  1. I'm with manphibian... £7k might see it stick around for a while, £6.5 would see it sell quickly - there will be low mileage GTs around for £7k.
  2. well, part of the reason i disliked my last Nissan Z car was cos it got 22mpg on a GOOD day - normally hovered around 15! So yeah, i did by my new zed for the MPG! but really, are there any 280bhp+ cars that get better than 33mpg on a cruise? the zed is probably better than most as it has a very long 6th gear, and a very relaxed engine - maybe one the new breed of turbo 4 cylinder engines could make 280bhp but still return 33mpg if you drove it everywhere off boost, but although every man and his dog has a turbo'd 4pot, who actually wants one over a V6?
  3. Jeez, some people really need to get a life... i mean really, yes its a zed, but its also a 9 year old nissan that was only worth £25k when it was new - nowadays they can be picked up for less than a nearly new ford fiesta. makes me sick - if these idiots want a 350z, they should just go and buy one! problem is people see a 2 door, 2 seat sports coupe and think the owner must be a wealthy ****, rather than an the realistic enthusiasts we are! If i was a wealthy ****, i'd have a porsche or an BMW, but im not, hence why i bought the superior Nissan
  4. As long as i get him by the 12th May the latest then he'll be off on an epic roadtrip with me... thats assuming Vik has had her evil way with him first!
  5. isnt this a repost? im sure that figure was stated about a month ago?
  6. if we're going to play the 'highest mpg figure' game, thats an easy one - i reset at the top of 4 mile downhill section, and coasted with the car in neutral all the way down - trip computer said 99.9 mpg for a good few minutes shame the display only has 'xx.x' format, would have been hilarious to get a pic with the speedo saying 60mph and the mpg reading 140mpg or something ludicrous
  7. Taken from wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating#Regional_variations United Kingdom: 'regular' petrol has an octane rating of 95 RON, with 97 RON fuel being widely available as the Super Unleaded. Tesco and Shell both offer 99 RON fuel. In April 2006, BP started a public trial of the super-high octane petrol BP Ultimate Unleaded 102, which as the name suggests, has an octane rating of 102 RON.[21] Although BP Ultimate Unleaded (with an octane rating of 97 RON) and BP Ultimate Diesel are both widely available throughout the UK, BP Ultimate Unleaded 102 was available throughout the UK in only 10 filling stations, and was priced at about two and half times more than their 97 RON fuel. In March 2010, BP stopped sales of Ultimate Unleaded 102, citing the closure of their specialty fuels manufacturing facility.[22] Shell V-Power is also available, but in a 99 RON octane rating, and Tesco fuel stations also supply the Greenergy produced 99 RON "Tesco 99". For fuel to be classed as 'Super Unleaded in the UK, it has to be at least 97 RON - so any super from the pump is fine. However if you have the means, Shell V-Power is 99 RON and Tesco Momentum is also 99 RON. BP Ultimate, where available, seems to be 97 RON. However, i seem to recall that although a zed prefers a diet of 98 RON or above, it can run fine on 97 because Super unleaded has various additives over normal fuel (?)
  8. pssh, average mpg over a year doesnt mean a great deal to me - i know that when i drive to and from work i'm lucky to see 15mpg, but the other type of driving i do is cross country jaunts, in which case its 27mpg, or long cruises, in which case its 33mpg. if i had an average from the year then the dte would be inaccurate for the type of driving im doing. i normally reset the trip computer whenever i start a different type of driving - doing half a tank round town and then half a tank motorway cruise gives me a meaningless number IMO.
  9. its hard not to worry when the price of petrol goes up by a penny between every fill up. it'll be £2 a litre soon no problems. however, im plenty happy that on a cruise controlled 75mph i can return around 33mpg - any car that does over 30 on a cruise is fine in my book.
  10. ditched cds at home aaaages ago... all music is stored on my laptop and then hooked up to speakers. In the car, it used to be mp3 cds, but then went back to normal cds for the standard cd changer in the zed (all other cars had aftermarket HUs), but since that is worse than terrible i bought an 8gb mp3 player and a cassette adapter, which is working just fine at the moment - and allows me to keep the BOSE amps and the steering wheels without the faff of ripping the dash apart.
  11. Daily Driver - i keep saying to myself we'll use the gf's far more economical 1.1 206 for long journeys at weekends, but since im usually the one driving, i think about how much i'll miss the zed and end up using it instead!
  12. ah ok, but bikes have no torque, just make ludicrous power by having a high redline. 350 bhp probably equates to 350lbft of torque, which is a hell of a lot from a 1.8!

    A car

It's owned by a woman. I'm not very sexist but I rest my case. Amazing it was serviced at all imo.
  14. An R8 it aint! Not for me thanks, i'll stick with my naturally aspirated 3.5 litre. 350bhp from a 1.8 is asking for trouble.
  15. should be plenty around - i paid £6800 for the exact same spec as that, a 53 plate with 41k on the clock. could probably get a slighty newer one than that if you're prepared to go for a higher mileage example.
  16. welcome to the forum! Rookie mistake to allow a 17year old out in a zed... especially one thats not his! plenty of good zeds about for you dont settle for anything less than the perfect car for you!
  17. think you're pretty much done on the engine front - only possible thing might be a 06 airbox? sounds to me like brakes and suspension are next on the agenda, the zed is already a pretty stiff chassis.
  18. 350z magnetic tax disc holder for £5 and stubby aerial for £6 off fleabay, then a decent car shampoo, wax and sponge combo from halfords for the remaining £9. or, if thats too much for you, heres my list of cheap (free) mods... wind windows down a touch - better exhaust sound into the cabin make sure all tyres are at the correct pressure (usually 35psi on 18s) - better handling, better fuel economy take the spare wheel and jack out the boot - saves 20kgs of weight, giving fractionally better acceleration, braking and handling ditch the missus - saves xx kilos of weight, better acceleration and handling, plus cures the annoying whine from the nearside seat when pushing on, allowing you to brake later and corner faster
  19. Another vote for Admiral just wrote off my civic, so claimed on insurance, bought a zed and they wanted £560 for the remaining 8 months of the year. im pretty much situation as you as well, 25, driving for 4 years, and had 1yrs NCB.
  20. loving the wing! Now thats man size. although for the racer look i'd go stanced with a stillen splitter, rather than the GTR bumper. Its not a GTR, its a Zed!
  21. All good apart from the really blurred 370z - if the car was sharp it would be fine
  22. lol, i just googled "A Petrol-Head's alternative to backpacking" (the most important bit here being the quotation marks) and only one page came up
  23. awww looks like he made a few new friends! And as for smelling of Cow dung... what kind of cleveland steamer did that cow do to him? Ps the Goat mountain looks mental!
