  1. sounds mighty tempting, have been considering doing an airfield day that way for a while now. However, moneys a bit tight as insurance is due this month - might pop down tho for a few passenger laps with someone
  2. hmm, after seeing them side by side, if they lowered it and put matching wheels on, it would actually look pretty good. However, the California isn't a looker anyways, so they've done the best they can with what they've got!
  3. High flow cats are a must, more important than the swapping the exhaust for power gains as thats where the biggest restriction in airflow comes from. What wheels have you got on? if you havent got some rays, get some of them on - reduces unsprung mass and the weight of the wheels, which gives better acceleration, braking, cornering agility and suppleness over bumps
  4. I give you the TVR Cerbera. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4151914.htm 30k on the clocks, taxed and tested till spring next year, under £10k 1. Driving dynamics / enjoyment when driving at 10/10ths - 10/10. rwd, no traction control, silly power, silly lightweight. 2. running costs (not including fuel) - 7/10 3. Engine performance - 11-12 out of 10, easy. its a TVR V8 for peats sake! 5. looks - maybe a conservative 15/10? again, its a TVR 4. Practicality - 10/10... 4 seats, boot, many cows gave their hides to furnish it, and it'll annihilate anything in a this side of a supercar in a straight line
  5. is it wrong that (bar the stupid rear light clusters) i actually kinda like it? looks like a concept sketch that has actually made it to reality for a change!
  6. indeed a lot of those cars arent in the same league, but i can think of one glaring omission from the lineup - a BMW Z4. can quite easily get a fully specced Z4 with a 3 litre engine for £28k, probably one thats really only just rolled off the showroom. Admittedly its still going to be expensive to service, but given the choice between a GT86 and a Z4 with a lovely folding hardtop, you'd have to be a lunatic to pick the toyota, surely? With engine and that spec, it should be £22k basic rising to £24k for top spec. After all, its pretty much no frills motoring and has a measly 2litre NA engine.... should have been priced to compete with an MX5, which is £23k with the same 2litre engine driving the rear wheels through a 6 speed manual box. I like the idea, but at that price i dont think (and secretly hope) they wont sell many
  7. im sure you'll get used to it... just takes a bit of time. when i first had the car i was overrevving it to pull away and riding the clutch when changing gears, just not used to the high bite (and it seemed quite a quick bite as well) but now i can quite happily go from standstill to moving without the revs rising about 1k and no lurching... just takes time!
  8. seems alright to me? 1st to 2nd is always an awkward gear change, can't say its any harder than in any other car
  9. mmmm hello shes lovely! better than a lot of the girls with two legs!
  10. well he does make an excellent point about the zed being an 8 tenths car... but the difference is a GT86 is a lightweight, high revving sports car, whereas the 370z is a lazy, torquey GT car - its not a car for driving the socks off, its about effortless cruising and the ability to overtake without changing down two gears like you'd have to in the GT86. And im sorry, but the GT86 he tested is not worth £28k - that interior just looks too cheap and nasty, and as he says its short two cylinders... that cayman looks like a great buy though... if i was choosing a sports car for £28k, it would be 3 year old cayman with 30k on the clocks, easy.
  11. yeah this does rely on the mpg reading being right! im going to assume that is working ok at least! would hate it to say im getting 25 when actually im only getting 19 or something, which would put my calculations out!
  12. Should do what i do, and read a few issues behind... or, go on ebay and pick up 139 back issues (up to and including this current months) for the low low price of just 99p. after all, a month or two (or a year) makes little difference to me, i'll still never be able to afford anything in EVO!
  13. Looks and sounds pretty darn good! Need some more vids please, and if possible a dB rating with the valve closed and then open. I do like the idea of that, im sure i can commission an exhaust welder to put something in for me!
  14. Good work those guys, looks pretty good to me! and for a change its a wide body kit i actually like!
  15. im gonna give up on the fuel gauge, when my dte says 30 miles left i only got 61 litres in. just gonna work it out with maths for now - if i get 25mpg, 75 litres gets me 410 miles. so basically as long as im getting 25mpg, im not going to fill up until i've done at least 380 miles on a tank.
  16. is that a buddyclub exhaust? that looks lovely!
  17. Todays one is great! Kayaking slalom course... I'll start the ball rolling with a 22.3 second run, anyone do better?
  18. seeing as he has all the receipts for servicing, wouldnt hurt to see what parts and fluids hes been putting in it. and as for fuel, ask the seller what he recommends for it - will probably give you a good indication what is been run on.
  19. Thats a close second so far, so i'll give myself one of these:
  20. got mine down to 12.3, but my fingers arent used to this!
  21. ahh good times, will be needing another fill up by then! and also, not going to be using the dte as an indication of when the tank is empty... filled up with 30 miles left on the dte, and it only took 61 litres, so still had 19 in reserve!
  22. PS. this has to be the vaguest title for a thread ever.
  23. http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan--350Z-Drag-Racing.html Looks to me that when launched properly zeds do an 1/8 of a mile (200.5 metres) in 8 seconds... so my guess is a zed would take around 5-6 to do 100metres. Bolt has no chance
  24. you should speak to the man in the know, Jez is a trader on here after all!
