  1. i modified my car by lowering the tyre pressures to 34 psi, rather than the usual 35. i find it gives me more grip, thus allowing me to accelerate, brake and corner noticeably faster - do i need to tell my insurance? or actually how about this... i swapped my rear camber from -0.3 per side to -0.5, which gives me a noticable increase in grip round corners, would i need to tell insurance? both of these are not serious enquiries, rather thought provokers... track tyres and superpro poly bushes are an obvious modification (although not many people declare a change of tyres) but geometry and tyre pressure changes can have an equally significant effect on handling, but would never be declared...
  2. not quite an Amuse kit - the real thing is a lot smoother, and has a different front bumper. I think a real Amuse would look good even when parked in a car park... but that one doesnt do it for me. why bother with wide arches at the rear without spacing out the wheels?!?
  3. what were the other two infringements? not that it matters anyways, rules is rules. hitching a ride definitely isnt the safest of things to do. Besides, i very much doubt Mark Webber cares any more - only a handful more races and then hes gone. and it actually might make a race exciting to have a fast car start from the middle of the pack. Was generally not that impressed with the Singapore GP, you can always tell a dull race when the leader gets very little tv time as hes so far ahead.
  4. looks like a nice little outing! need to get out to north wales again, great area of the country.
  5. well it seems inevitable to me, the age of the big naturally aspirated engine is dying, in favour of fuel economy and emissions. One line does give me some hope though: "It'll be smaller, lighter [than the current Z] but not less powerful." so at least whatever they come up with will be fast. my real loss will be the V6 engine... really hoping that Nissan dont follow everyone else and install a turbocharged 2litre 4pot (yawn) i dont care how much power it makes, its still a boring 4 pot! with any luck they'll go back to what they've done so brilliantly before, either a twin turbo 2.6 straight six (a la R34 GTR), or a twin turbo 3 litre V6 (a la 300ZX) heck, how about really going down the eco route with a 2.4 litre turbo V6, with some kind of KERS?
  6. welcome! and yes jealously is a cruel mistress... dont even rise to it, comparing bikes to cars is like comparing apples with giraffes!
  7. stubby aerial yes, thats the first mod i did! however one thing i can't get on board with is a rear spoiler delete... just think a car looks really weird without a spoiler on!
  8. looks sweet Ian! next step up is a house with a garage lol. sure you and suzi will spend many a happy hour together in the garage!
  9. agreed, he's obviously put a lot of time and thought into the sale, right down to the little details... i see no possible reason why this could be anything other than a legitimate sale?!?!
  10. This ones quite a good one as well - the Roadkill chaps strap 4 leaf blowers onto a '78 Chevy Monza to try and reduce their drag times:
  11. hmmm tempting... i've done 5 trackdays, but since four of them were sharing the car, they only count for half would love to try out snetterton, i think a fast flowing track would suit our BMW a lot better than the tight twisty stuff.
  12. just noticed this on their site: "Rounder overall tyre shape provides better balance for wet or dry handling." Ahhh so i should stop buying square tyres and then my handling might be better!
  13. eeek green wheels on an orange car... by all means prove me wrong but i'm afraid im not convinced at the moment!
  14. OMG someones running 245 width tyres on 12" rims! thats some hellaflushstretchstanceworx going on there! EDIT: just checked another photo and a close up of the rear shows the remains of a label showing 265... but still, pretty stretched!
  15. might i recommend http://www.rimtuck.com (warning - there be stance and wheel porn a plenty ) save you the hassle, there are only 5 zeds on there (of around 90) that are running 12" rears, and not one has overfenders. http://www.rimtuck.com/search/thumbnails&make=Nissan&model=350Z&widthr=12&sort=1 This ones on 18x10 front and 18x12 rear, looks a tad wide for me!
  16. when i get the funds i'll be purchasing one of these, decided several months ago! Was hoping i'd be doing something a bit different, but you've beaten me to it!
  17. Well, i'm afraid i dont like WhatCar?. Brillomaster says...
  18. tricky on a modern NA car to get good flames out the back... although you've done all the right steps by removing all restrictions from the cat and exhaust! might have to get it mapped to overfuel, or switch the ignition timing or something!
  19. admittedly the clutch is a tad on the heavy side... but i like to feel its connected to some bits of metal, a lot of cars with superlight clutches just feel like toys. And whats wrong with the gearbox? any car i've driven with a light clutch also has a terrible gearbox, really long throw, inprecise, doesnt feel like its in gear when it is, that kind of thing. i think the zed is very good, short throw and direct, no slack. only car i've had thats better was a mk2 mx5, the gearbox in that is perfection
  20. +1 used this company a few years back and had no problems claiming back medical bills when i had the misfortune of dislocating my shoulder.
  21. wow that looks genuinely stunning, been far too long since i was last in france, i think its a wonderful country. Scenery is simply stunning, i cant think of a better way of spending a bank holiday than a convertible zed on great roads
  22. yep used to have one of them! great camera, cost the thick end of naff all, so had great fun mounting it whereever i fancied on my old track car, safe in the knowledge that its less than a tenner lost if it detaches and bounces off down the road. pretty decent video quality too, this was filmed with one: word of warning though - i also tried mounting it the bottom of my model helicopter, and it didnt have enough oomph to carry the extra weight off the table. bear in mind my chopper is only 8 inches long though!
  23. i had inner tyre wear and it was tracking, not camber. get an alignment, job done.
  24. yep definitely get bartering! when my civic was written off i got the payout increased from £1000 to £2100... definitely a case of 'if you dont ask, you dont get'!
