Dave, My “Stalk Adapter†is running V.2.14 - not fitted yet, but arrived this week (ICT 29-674) Mark

Nice one ! Hope their e-Bay shop is more reliable ?
-
Working on it ! I just PM'd you the supplier details ! Mark

Hi Dom Not had dealings with these guys personally (they seem large enough with a few stores); According to their Ts+Cs - they can only charge you (if you are happy to wait for the product to come into stock!); if not - they are legally obligated to cancel the order; they should not be charging you, IF out of stock - unless you already agreed to wait? Availability If for any reason beyond our reasonable control, we are unable to supply a particular item, we will notify you as soon as possible. Payment will be taken for out of stock products to secure stock, only if you are happy to proceed with the order and agree to wait for the product. Which HU were you looking to get? I just purchased my Kenwood DDX4028BT (which is listed at £309.99 on Car Audio Centre), but I only paid £254.99 from a more reliable ICE supplier. Hope you can get this sorted out quickly, and order your goods from elsewhere. Mark

HUZZAH ! My goodies have started to arrive.............. ...but Santa has been officially placed on my naughty list. I've started working on my Kenwood ICE install guide (with rear cam) on MY06 with OEM SatNav.. hope the weather clears up so I can get busy over the weekend ! BTW - If anyone is in the market for a new HU - I had a bargain with my Kenwood DDX-4028BT...... only £254.99 + £9.99 next day courier. Purchased from a Kenwood Premier Centre. They seem pretty 'keen' on price, and was the cheapest I found (even cheaper than flea-bay!) PM me if you want to know more details. Install guide with plenty of pics / notes will be coming soon ! Ciao !

OMG - my neighbour totally did that to hide his SATNAV enabled HU in his Toyota Yaris. He printed out a picture of some old cr**py tape player, stuck it to a cardboard frame which sits over the top. I told him it maybe quicker to just 'eject / remove' the screen !

Sheer brilliance ! Thanks for that post. Made my day !

SpursMadDave That's like using a "Sledgehammer to crack a nut!"; If you want to see what that looks like............. click this... http://www.atomicshrimp.com/st/content/ ... ack_a_nut/

Also - check if you are running the menus in "Expert Mode" and not "Short Menus" (Not sure if that HIDES the more advanced stuff!) Page 16 of the PDF (Section 3-4) Might be worth posting your SW NAVI Version, in case anybody else has a newer update or can help? Let me know if you sort it !
-
It is ridiculous you can't turn your screen off. Here is a link to the 2004 BirdView 350z Manual.. http://www.courtesyparts.com/pdf/2004-N ... Z-Navi.pdf If you look at page 145 of the PDF (Section 11-17), you can clearly see the "Display OFF" setting; also read pg 148 (Section 11-20). This is trés weird...... I used to have an older X-Trail which had Birdview, and I had to update the unit using a system DVD (not the MAP DVD) - which performed a software upgrade on the unit itself. Perhaps your NAVI version is older than some others? If not, I dunno - give up Just trying to be helpful !
-
That is a shame! Any other settings in the diag. Menus on the 04?
-
Hi Adam It depends on the model (..and version for your MY); You can either go into Settings, Display Settings - and choose "Display OFF" in the menus; ..or press and hold the screen brightness button (the one with the sun / moon) on it. Cheers Mark

Nissan 350z 300 sat nav/stereo question.
AFTERSHOX replied to mmaci12969's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
mmaci12969 That's the same HU that I'll be buying in a few days; plenty of choice in the £300 price bracket - after much research and deliberation I decided on the 4028BT one. I'm also fitting a reversing camera, which is mainly the reason for the HU switch. I have the same setup as you.... BOSE + SATNAV (late MY06 car); just figuring out the final details on removal of centre console (with NAVI fitted), and best way to get VOICE NAV over the mixed audio - rather than option 1 - which is to splice the NAV audio wires and attach to RCA connectors / ...or option 2 - splice wires and fit an extra speaker for voice. Once I get started, I'll be taking some install pics etc. so will likely write up a quick guide. Mark -
UK OEM BirdView - Voice Nav through aftermarket HU
AFTERSHOX replied to AFTERSHOX's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Assume the SATNAV control buttons have to come off for MY06 cars to remove the screws for the centre console? See thread below; viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3564 So, controls come off........ and screen stays put? Yes? -
UK OEM BirdView - Voice Nav through aftermarket HU
AFTERSHOX replied to AFTERSHOX's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
un1leash I'm not giving up on getting the voice nav (blended) over the normal audio (e.g. not splicing or splitting the NAV loom) - although at least I have a plan B..) wiring the inputs to RCA's ...or spursmaddave's method - which is Plan C) Slightly OFF TOPIC, and perhaps another dumb question... but did you remove your NAV screen before attempting to remove the centre console? I've not started ripping stuff out yet - just wanna make sure I have all the bits and info before I get cracked on with it. Cheers fellas ! -
UK OEM BirdView - Voice Nav through aftermarket HU
AFTERSHOX replied to AFTERSHOX's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Unl1eash, I was just checking some wiring schematics - and the pin-outs you mentioned seem to relate to the "non-BOSE" HU... is that what you had before? FOR THE BOSE AUDIO UNIT (PIN OUTS) - I think these are the right ones? On the M39 connector. 24 NAVI ON (R/B) – RED / BLACK STRIPE 30 NAVI INPUT (-) (W/B) = WHITE / BLACK STRIPE 31 NAVI EARTH (B/OR) = BLACK / ORANGE STRIPE 32 NAVI INPUT (+) (L/B) = BLUE / BLACK STRIPE Let me know mate ! -
The short answer is NO. The screen does not have a video input. The JAP NAV has a video input (but this is on the DVD Unit behind the drivers seat); If you want to use a video input with the OEM UK NAVI SCREEN - you would need to add a device like the NAV TV, but these are so expensive that you would be better off forgetting about using the stock NAV screen entirely. http://www.nav.tv/category/7/75/169 Hope this helps you?

UK OEM BirdView - Voice Nav through aftermarket HU
AFTERSHOX replied to AFTERSHOX's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
un1eash - that is very helpful mate ! Thanks. Is there no other to merge the audio inputs (splitter box?) - so the NAV VOICE gets mixed with your audio source? eg. MP3 playback? Something like this? http://www.maplin.co.uk/phono-2-sockets ... able-29192 -
Ooooh.. the JVC 840 looks tasty ! Not sure about the rear USB port though?
-
I'm considering two different Head Units to replace my BOSE toasted sandwich maker in the Z. Long story, but this is cheapest way to get a Rear Parking Camera; I've been researching using the BirdView NAV Screen, but the choices are very limited - so it's a replacement HU that I'm going for. I'm torn between the following two units.... Please vote in the POLL - thanks. Comments also welcome. I know plenty folks have the Pioneer; but I'm slightly favouring the Kenwood. Both are similar price. Cheers

UK OEM BirdView - Voice Nav through aftermarket HU
AFTERSHOX replied to AFTERSHOX's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Hi un1eash Thanks for the reply mate. Makes sense. Regarding use of the AUX input for the SatNav AUDIO; do you get 2 x Red / White RCA connections (Left / Right Audio) FROM the Nav screen? (Somewhere behind the centre console). Assume they are easy to find once the centre console / BOSE HU is removed. Cheers Mark -
Couple of quick questions for you knowledgeable types: Q1) Is it possible to get voice navigation from the OEM UK BirdView through an aftermarket HU? (I did search the forum, couldn't find an answer) Q2) Is it possible to re-use the existing microphone / steering wheel controls (for the Telephony) from the Bluetooth Kit on an aftermarket HU? (I don't intend to use the Nissan BT Module as the new HU will have Bluetooth) - but would like to the buttons on the steering wheel for answering calls / making calls etc.? Thanks for the help. Mark
