Keen on these, whereabouts are you based?

My god......the joy of forums. There I am, Sunday, it's snowing and the passenger side window's jammed- thankfully UP! So I check out the details and find out that the motor is a common problem etc etc...get some quotes and get ready for a £200+ bill (up to £850 for the regulator too?!) or trying to clean it meaning probably most of a day swearing that i've broken the little plastic clips that hold everything together and "oh, where does this last bolt go?" And then I read this and it was the damn Passenger window locking switch which i'd accidentally hit! Why, seriously does that even exist?! Comical. Thank you 350z-uk.com for saving me half my months wage on motors and labour.

Just saw this over on pistonheads. Wanting something special to change up from my 350z (and can't quite stretch to the GTR) looks like this could be it! Can't see a price though? I think it's sold at around a £5k premium abroad? I looked at importing them and the costs were insane! So glad they're bringing it here Great looks although anyone thinking that asrse is subtle...?!

London to Edinburgh on one tank (results p3 & p4)
Siman350z replied to ddcboyle's topic in 350Z General
Interesting read! I too have gotten very high 30's driving 56-60 experimenting on my commute and also driving up to Yorkshire (where I averaged 36mpg driving 60-70mph). Your fuel tank sensor probably needs cleaning. They often read out and it's a common issue. Fixing it just involves draining the tank (driving about lots) then removing some of the trim in the back, pulling the sensor out and cleaning with cotton buds. It's an amazingly basic sensor which just getting clogged up over time, making the car claim the level is lower than it really is (rarely reads higher in my experience). Easy to do, just have to be careful 1) Not to get petrol all over the place and 2) Don't spark up during the job. Guide: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/54763-how-to-fix-the-inaccurate-fuel-gauge/ -
The noise. Full nismo exhaust and filter with the windows down always makes you grin That and the torque + RWD, oh and the perfect balance in corners, and the feel from the front end when you're driving with a proper bit of flow down your favorite B-road, and the sub behind the seat on the right tune..the look of the thing....er ok so quite a lot then Makes me grin every time I drive it. Enjoy! ..But go easy in the freezing weather As far as viewings go...few niggly issues that can crop up check: 1) Gearbox for frustrating notches/ crunches esp into 2nd and 6th 2) Rattly sound when car in neutral/ clutch depressed (clutch release bearing) 3) Check bose headunit doesn't skip/ all speakers working 4) Clutch shouldn't be too stiff. 5) Check bushes around the front suspension especially. Listen out for any knocks/ clunks. Usually straightforward to sort but always good for haggling Rust is rare- bonnet is aluminium for example (check for corrosion- aluminium oxide build up, around bonnet lid) and check wheel arches as you would with any car. Also check condition of brake pads and discs and tyres as normal- OEM parts and good aftermarket parts can be pricey so you want to start off with a good bit left on them You can always ask on here about any issues you come across! Good luck.

I take it back! Wussed out this morning in our village- because we're in the middle of no-where the roads aren't salted and it's now compacted, snow-ice. Took our puma in which was fine. Drive safe out there guys! Winter tyres are better in this weather although remember they are better for the low temps, ice but no necessarily snow itself although i'm sure they make a huge difference vs summer tyres. ..Also shocked to see people driving on non-icy, non-snowy, well salted wet 60mph limit roads at 15mph in a straight line causing huge tail backs...

Yep, I would also see pistonheads sticker as a bad thing- and I am a big fan of the site. I think even car enthusiasts lust after a totally standard car with 1 lady owner/ just used to pop down the shops etc (in a perfect world). I'm (nearly) in the market for a 370z and the car looks great, perhaps with the exception of the non-standard colour wheels.

New gas struts are £65 for the 350z, keep meaning to but haven't got round to it. Until then it's rest it on your head! Pennies and lube will sort the double pop issue for 90% of the time For anyone wanting some, this is the chap I got my quote from (no affiliation): Andy Wyatt | Gas Strut Sales Tel: 01332 226 290 | Fax: 01332 290 514 Email: andy@sgs-engineering.com SGS Engineering UK Ltd Unit A6 Cranmer Rd, West Meadows Estate, Derby, DE21 6JL www.sgs-engineering.com

+1 for the jiggling. I like your style. -
I used to have road angel and snooper systems of various sorts, worked fine. I now use gps location of the cameras/ sites though. All mobile sites are published (they actually publish them in the local paper too so it's no secret). I use the tom tom to detect mine and as it's their 'live' system, it's automatically updated. I would go for this now, the mobile detectors are a bit old hat/ pricey for what they do. Mobile laser jammers are illegal although it's very hard to get enough evidence to prosecute. IMHO, you'd need to be doing high speeds fairly regularly to really make that sort of risk worthwhile. And if you've been warned that their may be a trap there, there's no need to be speeding through it anyway.

Although I always avoid taking rear wheel drive cars out in the snow, i've previously been out there with my exige (fine) and bmw 330ci (awful), amazingly the 350z has probably been the best of the lot. Its SUCH a well balanced car, as long as all your inputs are super-smooth it's a very natural thing to drive in the snow if you get caught out (that was vreds on the front, F452's on the rear). I now have 452's all round and although they are definitely not the best tyre for grip in cold, damp/slimey conditions, in dry/ very wet they've been fine. We'll see how they fair this winter! Also, fresh snow is never too bad, it's the compacted then frozen stuff thats the worst.. As for FWD vd RWD discussed above, the real issue is getting the weight over the driven wheels, and in addition, the thinner the tyre, the more pressure on the road surface. Hence why rwd cars with wide sports tyres like the bmw are so classically stranded and other, more basic FWD cars are often better. Best normal car I have ever driven in the snow is a hyundai coupe. Very heavy, low power, thin tyres and engine weight over the driven wheels.

Damn....sorry, that was about the only piece of journalism I HADN'T read... Any word on how much they have gone for when imported? If not, I suppose it's not all that hard to source and fit the bits, still not the real deal though. I'm coming from a 350z with nismo bits and wanting something special to change to..still not totally ruled out a newer 350z. Cheers for the replies!

I'm sorry to sound so novice here but i've hunted all over the site and wiki/ google and yet still can't find the info. Is the Nismo 370z available in the uk? How much do they tend to fetch (it mentions 40k on this thread which makes me think they're import only..? Also, for the upgrades you get that has to be an exaggeration- twice the price of the regular car??)
-
Any updates? Amazing work, they look fantastic (and at £3k for brakes they ought to!) just hope you managed to get them working..
-
There are 2 DIY methods, a UK and a US version. The US version (which it sounds like you tried) is no good on our cars. If I can find the UK one I will.

When to buy a diesel for work and ended up with this lol
Siman350z replied to lotuscorsa's topic in 350Z General
Great pair there! Loving that RX7...very nearly got one but...does yours blow up as much as everyone says they do? My mechanic practically begged me not to go for an rx7 lol. -

Have the discs gone yet? Interested in them- how deep is the lip around the edge? Miles? Cheers!

No one's mentioned that this is WEBUYANYCAR, not glasses' guide or similar. They offer sod all for cars because essentially they take anything and have to be at least reasonably sure they can sell it on for a profit. This is not the value of your car, just what they in particular will pay for it. Because of the way they trade and the types of cars they're used to dealing with, i'm not surprised that they steer clear of import vehicles- especially when there is not shortage of UK models for the 350z. An import is more likely to stay on their books for longer, take up storage space, all the while depreciating right in front of them. They're assessing it in terms of risk to themselves and vs the UK car, and there is more risk in the import hence the price.

Clutch fluid changed... Whats wrong with this pic
Siman350z replied to R-Face's topic in 350Z General
For two different mechanics to be THAT bad at something as simple as changing clutch fluid, I certainly wouldn't be going back there! Personally I would have been "Money back, i'm going elsewhere" as mentioned earlier. At least you got it sorted though. -
I take it you mean the 5 series from ~2000-2006? If so, they aren't all that reliable but fine for wafting about in. The diesel has lots of torque although be sure to research the common issues, of which BMW's from that era have a hell of a lot (self-destructing plastic swirl flaps on some diesel engines, front bushes, breaking sunroofs, leaking rads etc etc). I think newer ones are meant to be better. Lots of torque on the diesel engine just don't expect it to be 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' Sadly this is a marketing lie, as I found out.

Made a video - 5 minutes - noise + hooning
Siman350z replied to TameRacingDriver's topic in 350Z General
Shame I missed it! You have to remember that on a car forum, no one speeds ever and certainly never races. In reality though, posting videos like that is never a good idea (all sorts of legal reasons). The mixed tyres thing refers to the never-ending debate as to whether it's fine to mix tyres or will turn your car into a death trap. Do a search -
Not a stuck thermostat is it? That's what happened on the BMW E46 I had...exactly the same symptoms no idea if the system is the same on the 350 though. Get it sorted as mine happened in mid winter when there was a fair bit of snow about- not good times with no heat!
-
Not sure what you mean by "drive out of the law?". It's a superb car all round, the torque is excellent just for leaving it in 3rd/4th round town or take it for a blast on the B-roads. Life is far too short to own a good car and not use it- petrol prices are only going one way and it isn't down so i'd enjoy it whilst you can! Mine is my daily driver and I can't think of anything i'd change for.
