Assume the fact they look different shades of blue is just down to lighting conditions?

Walk away.

I obviously don't know your circumstances but I thought I'd mention we picked up a brand new Toyota Aygo as a second car recently on a very low monthly payment. Free insurance for a year, no road tax and a five year warranty. Just a thought....
-
Personal contract purchase (or plan). Lower monthly payments than HP, guaranteed final value of car at end of agreement - three options - give car back, px towards another one or pay off the balance. Good if, like me, you tend to want to change cars quite often.
-
I reckon quite a lot more. Mine's on a 4 year PCP and I'm paying a fair bit more than that.

few small plans... 1. change the nissan badges for black Z. (currently in my shed) 2. visit maybe rt-performance to see if they can wrap/paint the doorhandles black. 3. POSSIBLE exhaust upgrade later in the year 4. POSSIBLE 10mm spacers but doubtful I will do this as I don't want to change the cars geometry at all as I love the set up. 5. POSSIBLE rear window and side rear tints. 6. 100% some form of cat sticker on the car. What no GTR starter button!? :)I don't think the Nismo needs spacers. My only remaining mod, when I get around to it, is a set of the illuminated kick plates that I installed in the previous Z - they make the interior look a bit more upmarket and are fairly easy to install. ah yes! I forgot. GTR button and kickplates in the future!! let me know where you got the GTR button and goin to get the kickplates.. I got both from Steve on here who I believe trades as Redline - check out the trader section and drop him a PM.

If you buy the Black Edition you are basically buying it for the cosmetics, an additional degree of exclusivity and (if you get the Quartz) for the unique colour. I really liked the Quartz colour - it had a quality of looking different in different lights and always generated positive comments, but you're correct that in real terms you're not getting anything substantially different for your money. I did love mine though!

Having had one I reckon its the nicest of the 370 interiors. There are usually a few on Autotrader for sale.

Bloke was doing similar right next to our new second car (Toyota Aygo) the other day. Using a power saw to chop up the branches he'd been employed to remove from the neighbour's hedge. My other half looked out the window and at one point he's using her brand new car as a table to rest his gloves on. Politely asked him not to and he looks at me like I'm mental. The way I see it someone's car is their personal property and you don't touch it any more than you'd go into their front room and put your hands on their TV etc.

Not me unfortunately. Got boring in-law duties.

Here you go. Review and cold start clip. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/83723-my-nismo-given-the-cobra-and-stillen-treatment/

I'd take the leather and alcantara seats from my previous Black Edition given the choice. The cloth seats are very comfortable but I prefer the look of leather/alcantara and being a clean freak I don't like the way the cloth seats are a magnet for every single particle of dust and fluff that gets anywhere near them. It's a small niggle though about what is otherwise a car that puts a huge smile on my face every time I go anywhere near it. I don't personally think that the exhaust would ever have got to a point where I was happy with it. G-Man is obviously happy with his and I expect other Nismo owners are as well, but I felt the car needed to sound substantially more sporty to match its looks. I don't regret the additional spend though - it was definitely worth it for me.
-
Bad news. Fairly sure that even for the silver Rays it's a two stage finish, so there is no paint code. Best thing you can do is take them to a pro to match the colour.
-
The exhaust is better sounding than the standard 370 but still fairly quiet. Cloth seats only (for me the only thing better about the newer variant Nismo in the U.S. is the seats).

Get stuffed Ekona Lovely car mate. What's your initial impressions of the exhaust? What exhaust... It's silent!!! For an exhaust with cans that big, it's crazy quiet. Let's see how it warms up Looks like you'll be ordering a new one then I'm afraid you won't notice much difference in time. Even adding HFCs to the stock exhaust didn't quite do it for me. New exhaust will give it the sound to match the looks. Cleaning Tip. If you're using waxes or sealant keep it clear of the red trim. If you get wax etc on them it collects along the ridges and is a pain to remove.

Amazing animals. Shame the Chinese are so fixated on Ivory!

Nice.

Best of luck whatever happens

If you've got to modify it to make it look good that seems to confirm it's got something wrong with its looks. The 370 is definitely a head turner - how about picking up a cheap one and spending the balance on a low cost runaround for family duties?

You asked for opinions so I'm assuming your open to all points of view. I have to say that coming from a generation when it was the norm for people to move out as soon as possible (17 in my case) and live independently, I cannot imagine being in the situation you've outlined (I know it's more difficult these days). From what you've said, it sounds like your mum has made some seriously questionable choices and I would be very uncomfortable with the idea of one of my parents being financially dependent on me while at the same time going on two holidays a year. You say she 'has' to go on two holidays a year...nope she 'has' to have food, shelter, clothing...not two holidays a year. I've never really bought into this family is everything thing - if someone is behaving stupidly being family doesn't excuse it. I'm with Ekona in that I think you need to have a difficult conversation with her and stop being an emotional crutch who she can conveniently use to blame for her mistakes (and subsidise her holidays). Sorry if that sounds harsh but you did ask...reading your post made it sound like you're the parent.

My other half saw a girl using two cars as a sort of buffer while she parked her car in Richmond - some people don't seem to realise that other cars aren't supposed to be used in that way!
