  1. Did you spec the illuminated kick plates? If not, they're a good little mod. I've added them to my last two 370s.
  2. Go see him. I lost my dad to a heart attack at the age of 12. It happened so quickly and unexpectedly I never got to say goodbye. I'm sure your Dad will make a good recovery but go just in case. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

  4. Cheers Dan. Also shows I really need to learn to park.
  5. Thanks chaps. I'm pleased with it. Expensive lesson though....

    370Z Nismo

Thanks. I held it up to the bumper next to the number plate and on the lip below the splitter. To be honest it looked good on all of them but I didn't want to stick it to the bumper, which has recently been repainted, and I preferred the way it looked next to the red line on the splitter. Here's the link if you're interested - just have a hack saw handy to remove the grill attachments. It's not a solid back so you have to position the tape carefully otherwise it's visible behind the badge. Still a super easy mod though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grille-Emblem-Nissan-Skyline-Silvia/dp/B00BS8CLWI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421329721&sr=8-1&keywords=nismo+badge

    370Z Nismo

Added a bit of discrete Nismo branding to the front of the car today. I noticed the Mark 2 Nismo has a Nismo badge near the number plate which looks quite good. Our Mk1 bumpers don't have space for one to go in the same place, so I tried a few different positions and decided I liked it here best. An OEM badge is around £90 on ebay(!). This is a third party badge intended for attachment to a grill. It cost less than a tenner on Amazon. I used a hack saw to cut off the two protruding areas where the grill attachments should go, smoothed it off with a file and then carefully added automotive double sided tape to fix it to the bumper. Nice little mod I think and cost a grand total of £20 including the tape etc. (I wondered about the quality but was surprised to find that it's a metal base rather than plastic). Feels good quality and looks virtually identical to the OEM one on the back of the car.
  10. Definitely a nicer looking car than the BMW. Interior looks great too.
  11. He's calling your car boring
  12. Just a personal opinion but I'm not keen on wraps - never seen one I've liked. I say wait, save if necessary, and buy a Z in a colour you're going to be happy with.
  13. I'm quite partial to the SLK 55 AMG.
  14. Thanks. I think you'd be fine if you were getting the whole kit painted - the real problems start when trying to get just part of a panel painted to repair a scratch etc. it's really hard to match the new paint on a single panel hence the need for a full bumper re spray.
  15. I thought this might be of interest to those with pearl white Zs like mine. I'm generally really careful when parking but just before Xmas I misjudged a space and picked up a small but very visible scratch on my bumper. The one upside was that I was visiting a local body shop to discuss a wheel refurb and the car I left a bit of my paint on was in for a full bumper respray anyway! My heart sank because I'd read before how hard three stage pearl paints can be to properly match, especially the white used by Nissan. I rang around a load of reputable body shops. Some reckoned they could probably blend the paint on the repaired area to create a match while others advised a bumper respray because of the difficulties with matching pearl white. I ended up going to a place in Ashford (Middx) - Andy's Autobarn. He's a former Mercedes man with 30 years experience and lots of good on-line feedback. We discussed the options and he advised that getting a good match with a partial repair would be very difficult but he would do his best and if I wasn't happy he would do the whole bumper and charge the difference. When it came to collect the car Andy immediately told me that he himself wasn't completely satisfied with the partial repair. He said it looked perfect in the paint booth but slightly off under certain conditions outside. In dull light I could just detect a slight difference in the repaired area. Knowing this would bug me to death I asked him to do the whole bumper. Anyway, picked the car up today and I'm really happy with the results. All white Zs have slightly off colour bumpers, some worse than others. Mine wasn't a bad example but you can see from the pictures below that it did have that slightly creamy tinge that affects these cars. The new paint job is actually a better match to the body than the factory finish and the standard of work is excellent - a really nice quality finish with no visible imperfections. So I guess my advice to anyone unfortunate enough to pick up a bumper scuff on their beloved pearl white Z is to get the bumper redone by a good shop. It's probably the only way of being certain of an invisible repair and while a perfect plastic bumper to metal body match is virtually impossible, you might get a better shade than the factory finish Andy told me he'd seen so many issues with pearl white cars he'd never buy one himself. Not sure I would buy another one! The offending scratch Not big but very noticeable with the black plastic showing against the white paint Picture 1 of the car with the factory finish bumper - note the slightly duller creamy shade on the bumper. This was a really big issue on early 370Zs and GTRs. Nissan seem to have improved the match on later cars but not completely. Picture 2 - again a noticeable difference on the bumper (although this picture has a filter which makes the difference look much worse that it actually was) Pictures 3-4 - the resprayed bumper - not a perfect body to bumper match but I wasn't expecting one due to the plastic and metal difference. It is however a closer match and to my eyes a more pleasing shade than the slightly creamy look of the factory finish
  16. KingMansion wifi reader and OBD Car Doctor app (free) worked very well for me.
  17. Clean your car have a points scheme which is very handy if you spend quite a bit with them.
  18. Depressingly inevitivble that something will happen here in 2015. I usually say I like working slap bang in the middle of the Capital. Not so sure now....
  19. All other things aside don't rule out the 370 on reliability grounds. They are a reliable car.
  20. That looks pretty smart. I think darkening the wheels would be a good next step.
  21. Before we went to Istanbul for my other half's birthday in November her mother was saying she was worried about terrorism in Turkey. We both laughed it off, as Istanbul is generally considered safe, but I see on the news that a suicide bomber struck just a few days ago, scarily right in the area we were staying.
