Thanks. I was also thinking of the red ones to go with the Nismo engine bay. I already have HKS filters. Like you, I don't expect to notice any difference in performance or sound but it's a nice bit of bling for the engine bay

I've been reading up quite a bit on filter solutions on the U.S. forums recently. General consensus seems to be that the Stillen Gen 3s are the only worthwhile ones in terms of performance but even with those the gains are fairly minimal for the cost. A lot of people regard the drop ins and post MAF silicone tubes solution as the best value alternative to stock. Can I ask where you got your post MAF tubes and how easy was the install?

Can't question the quality of the Akro', but from what I've read the back box system isn't much louder than stock. You could consider a good value full system such as the Invidia Gemini. Then if you keep the stock system you can swap it back when you sell the car. There are usually plenty of buyers on here for an after-market system in good condition.

Glad you're enjoying the car. Not sure if you will find short tails a bit too loud but I believe some members have fitted them and like the sound. Failing that, there's a great selection of after-market exhausts to choose from.

Would look very nice indeed under a nismo bonnet Hmm I know. I'm planning to hang on to this car for a good while yet so I think I will be doing something with it along these lines at some point, just to keep things interesting.

If you care about the car just take it to a decent body shop with a good reputation.

There can be an issue with the Berks HFCs + Stillen exhaust combo. The HFCs push the exhaust down onto the cross-brace causing a nasty rattle/vibration. I think you'll be fine with the Cobra exhaust + Berks HFCs. I accept no financial liability if this advice turns out to be incorrect

No I didn't get it from Nissan, just an eBay thing, it came with 3M sticky foam on the back rather than grill pins and I think its actually plastic rather than metal but does look identical to the one in your picture. Probably the same maker then - thinking about it, mine is probably plastic but the studs were metal. Either way, they're surprisingly decent for the money.

Just curious - did you get the Nismo badge from Nissan? It looks identical to the metal one I got and added to my front bumper having seen the one on the Mk 2 Nismo. I believe it was supposed to be a grill badge, but I removed the metal studs at the back so I could use it on the bumper. I got mine from Amazon for a modest £12 but it was surprisingly decent quality.

That's enough cute kittens time for some ageing overweight specimens (all three of us) Molly on the left is about 14. She is Sonny's mum. He's about 12. We inherited them from the people who lived here before us and have come to love em both dearly. They don't really get on and usually have a minor scrap at about 6 o'clock every evening for some reason. I'm especially fond of Sonny, as he's very dog like, affectionate and a bit daft. Both are currently on strict diets at the direction of the vet. Sonny has already lost half a kilo.

Just as a matter of interest how does the GTR drive in full auto mode? I read something a while back about it being set up to conserve fuel so it is reluctant to change down to lower gears in normal driving conditions, but I'm thinking that might have been in relation to the early models. Is it still pleasing to drive in full auto?

Yep. It could be that the G3 has just dulled the lacquer, rather like a very fine grit sand paper would. If so, you should be able bring the shine back with a polish, but if that doesn't work you've gone too far and you'll need to get a body shop to sort it.

My other half has been renting her flat in New Malden out for the last eight years - it's been a largely positive experience - only one slightly dodgy tenant who she quickly got shot of. She uses a local management company who take care of most of the practical stuff and they've been quite good at finding new tenants when the existing ones leave. i think she pays them about ten percent.
