  1. It's also worth asking yourself how much you will actually get to exploit the sound of the equipment when you decide how you much you want to spend and the right equipment for you. I used to have some really good home cinema equipment (Yamaha amp. etc,) but I ended up selling it on Ebay because when we moved to our current place (an end of terrace house) I could never really crank up the volume for fear of upsetting the neighbours. I thought I'd hate just having the sound coming out of the TV but I got used to it pretty quickly. Periodically upgrading your stuff can be quite addictive and expensive too. Unless you're really committed to the whole home cinema/audio thing I'd suggest a decent sound bar.
  2. Very bad in Richmond yesterday but at least it meant shops were pretty empty.
  3. Oh yes, it's a joy. A nice sound when you have the throttle down & nigh on silent when cruising. Hows the Nismo??? I'm chuffed you like it Nismo is not all that different to the Stillen. Maybe a shade quieter but defo a sporty sound.
  4. So Darren are you enjoying my beloved Stillen then?
  5. Welcome to the forum. You may struggle to sort an integrated camera on an 09 as it doesn't have the necessary software in the sat nav but you could consider a decent set of sensors.
  6. Agree Tarmac. I'm waiting for someone to fit HFCs and give us impressions of the sound.
  7. I know where you're coming from. I know some people absolutely love modding and fair play to them, but having dabbled in it with my previous 370, the cost, hassle, occasional risks of something going wrong, insurance, returning the car to stock for resale etc. etc. means that I've decided it's not for me. I'd don't plan to do much if anything at all to the Nismo (fortunately the exhaust sounds fairly decent as it is, otherwise I would definitely would get a different one.
  8. I hear what you say about the hassle etc and it's not cheap to get a decent system, but the 370 sounds so much better when you fit a decent CBE I think it's worth doing. I returned mine to stock prior to picking up the Nismo and I couldn't believe how duff it sounded in comparison to the relatively tame Stillen system I had on for most of my time with the car. I'm no expert but I doubt that anything will really improve the sound except fitting a decent exhaust. You've obviously spent a fair bit of money on a very nice car so why not bite the bullet and endure the brief hassle / expense to make it sound like it should. I doubt you'll regret it.
  9. Fair play -.probably wouldn't have been sufficient for a bad scratch but worth bearing in mind if get any swirls in future. My previous Zs pillars had some quite bad ones and the Meg's did a good job removing em
  10. Point made and if it was on an old 'cheap' car I would - and have done in the past. But on an almost new sports car, spending £86 (which itself is a joke for a lump of plastic!) is acceptable. I'm not sure where the idea of replacing both sides has come? - I've always said it was just the driver's side. The only niggle on the whole car is the driver's side B-pillar trim so replacing it for £86 is not too much to worry about. Plus saving £66 to then spend best part of a weekend sanding a few coats of primer, rubbing down in-between, and then a few coats of colour and lacquer is money well spent - I'd rather be out with my wife enjoying my weekend and driving my new toy. Hi depending on how bad the scratch is you might want to try polishing it with some Meg's Ultimate Compound. I found that works quite well on the B pillars.
  11. I love a night in with a film, my better half, a few drinks and some good food. In the winter we light the real fire - very cosy:)
  12. Nice. Be great to hear about the sound from the cats. I was surprised that the Nismo sounds sporty stock after the crappy sound of the standard car but if cats improve the sound a bit more I might give em a go
  13. Interesting. That wasn't my experience of the MPSSs although I was comparing them to a fairly worn set of Bridgestones. The new Bridgestones on the Nismo are quieter than I was expecting.
  14. Awww very sorry to hear that. Remember the good times and remind yourself that you gave her a great life
  15. Hi mate - be great if you could post some thoughts about how the HFCs affect the sound once you've fitted them.
  16. Sorry - that's just me posting the wrong link in haste 21 and 19 fit perfectly on the front (no idea about the rear). I've already swapped over the wipers on my Nismo with the Bosch ones from my previous Z. I really like em.
  17. I've definitely seen videos of a Nismo in the US where the guy had fitted HFCs with the exhaust left as standard and was happy with the results. There are also plenty of people over there who fit a different exhaust (I'm quite happy with the one it comes with).
  18. Kudos to you and everyone else who gives neglected animals a home. I saw a horrible picture the other day of a dog in Romania that had had part of of its jaw hacked off because the media there whipped up a frenzy after a child was mauled by a dog. There's so much cruelty to animals. It really makes me smile when I see people giving unwanted pets a loving home. We currently have two cats and five bunnies - all rescue
  19. Yep I know there can be issues with them so I'm gonna give it a try and keep an eye on how it works out. If it starts to look iffy I'll stop using it.
  20. I've read most of the reviews online and I agree that in some cases they aren't exactly glowing. I think the negativity is usually on the basis that the changes aren't significant enough to merit the price hike over the standard 370. That's probably a fair argument to some extent, as the power hike is small and the other changes don't exactly stand out on paper. All I can say is that the minute we turned up and saw the car I knew I wanted one - they really do look stunning 'in the flesh' and as soon as I drove it I could feel the power and additional poise. It just feels quicker and sharper (and my previous Z had an uprev). My advice is go take a look and a test drive and then decide. I agree the GT Edition is a great car. I was happy with my Black Edition as well but I'm one of those heart rules head people. Once I saw it, that was it for me
  21. I've been researching breathable car covers. My Z has to live out in the street and typically only gets driven at the weekends so I'm thinking about getting a good quality cover, partly to protect from the elements and partly to help protect against the risk of vandalism. I've not had any problems so far but the white Nismo is a lot more conspicuous than my previous Z. I know some people don't like the idea of using a cover but having read up on it I think its a good idea for me. Just need to make sure the tax disc, parking permit and reg are visible and that it's only put on when the car is clean and dry
