Hope you got something nice for the MX5.
Got a nice set of ally pedals and braided clutch line for it from the missus
My mum also gave me some money towards "what ever car parts you want now" so got to decided if I go for a clutch upgrade, bucket seat or coilovers...
Decided to finally take the door cars off to spray the red panels purple and while they were off I thought I'd have a look at the speakers and try and figure out why the audio always sounds so tinny.
We'll this might explain it... the magnet was attached to the inside of the door!
So along with the new purple door cars go a set of 230W Pioneer 2 way speakers. Not bad for £30.
All back together - Really need to do something with those seats now.
Well we plasti dipped the wheels white so she'd quite like some coloured or black wheel nuts rather than chrome but we did think about covers.
Those washers are 70p each and I've got a nice set of black nuts and lockers already so was the cheapest option. We did think about getting covers but all the chrome on the current locker has come off and the head had started to rust so they could probably do with being replaced anyway before they become and issue. We might end up just replacing those and trying to polish up the old nuts.
Long story short the missus wants to change the wheel nuts on her Civic.
I have a set of 60 degree tapered nuts going spare however the car still has the stock alloys which are radius / ball seats.
There is little to no choice of raduis nuts SO... has anyone ever used these radius to taper washers to allow them to use tapered nuts?

Considerably cheaper than buying a new set of nuts.
Any opinions welcome. My only real concern is them damaging the alloys if they dont seat in the alloy properly or if a clown with a impact wrench gets anywhere near them.
To be honest I think it will probably be wheel spin.
Traction control sometimes doesn't kick in at all if I pull away a bit sharpish in a straight line.
So I just had a play with some Plasti-dip like paint and painted the windscreen surround.
Pleased with my choice of colour and finish but i'm not sure its the right stuff for painting body panels.
This one takes just a little too much masking so that you cant remove it quick enough before it starts attaching to the masking tape
Will probably rip it off and have another go another day
Well I dont actually run the stock size wheels. My LMGT4's are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 which I guess is the same stagger but just an inch bigger.
To be fair though, I do have my GT4 alloys with a set of nearly new Falken 452's on. They probably wouldn't appreciate a track day but its an option.
Fair point.
I watched the tuned Z hot version video and two of the Z's there used 235/40 front and 265/35 rear which looked interesting. I'd assume thats on a 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 stagger but I couldnt find any info on their wheel sizes.
Looks is more of an afterthought to be honest. I'd rather have the right fitment than the best looking.
Yes I know, I'm sure there are probably ways of dialling out oversteer/understeer with specific alignment settings - most likely at the cost of tyre wear.
Why?
I'm not trying to be awkward. I'm genuinely looking for a reason for this.
Mark also suggested 18x8 and 18x9 or 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 but I'm interested in exploring the square fitment option.
Why is that? I keep seeing conflicting info on staggered vs square wheels and tyres. Mostly relating to traction control being an issue.
Edit: other info points to more neutral setup which can promote oversteer.
Suggested by Mark at Abbey after emailing him about track day mods.
Not been able to find much on them so guess its fairly uncommon.
Anyone running 18x9's all round or have any photos?
(ET25 preferably but beggars cant be choosers)
Suggestion was 18x9's all round with 265/35 tyres. Gives the advantage of being able to rotate tyres around easily.
Also some track day tyres in this size are like half the price of road tyres for my 19" LMGT4's!
Cheers
It was £100 through Kickstarter. Id assume it's roughly the same. Totally worth it based on the amount of effort the chap put into it and the quality of the finished product.
