  1. I feel your pain, to some (many) people, the car is just a means of conveyance. To them it means nothing to ding doors as they get out of theirs, scrape bumpers as they have their miserable attempts at parking. Boils my blood!
  2. Well it wasn't so much a 'split' as the hose coming away from the end fitting due to it being so rotten and rusted. Quite worrying as brake hoses are made the same way! Could well be worth taking at look at your own clutch hoses. If the end fittings are a rust ball, new hose time ! Thanks again to Abbey for sorting it out so quickly and for fitting my new wheels and spacers (I'm getting SO lazy in my old age!!)
  3. I'll see what Mark says. I doubt they need it hanging about and I don't want to be without a car that long. Engine is coming out because Mark has a box sailing across the sea with forged rods and pistons in and I have Ian's S/C in my garage oooOOOooo.. when you get that done mate let me know so I can pop round and have a nose please I'm only round the corner. No definate date as yet, depends on Tony "Daddy" Abbey's engine building schedule but hopefully September some time.
  4. Car got collected by Green Flag at 1 on the dot as arranged. Mark text me at 2 to say it had arrived safely, then text me again half hour later to say clutch hose had split and he had braided ones in stock. How's that for service!

  6. ...until 6.30 this morning when I put my foot on the clutch and BANG, pedal straight to the floor Now I have to get home lunchtime to meet the recovery truck to get it taken over to it's favourite second home, Abbey Motorsport Annoying thing is, engine is coming out in a month or two, couldn't wait 'til then could it! Had to be awkward and break today
  7. If there is only one way to fit them (which there is) and he's re-fitted them another way (how?) I think I'd be inclined to take a wheel off and make sure he hasn't done something inventive! My ex wife took her MK1 Escort to get some shocks put on the rear (she needed tyres so had this done at the same time), she said they took over an hour fitting them! It's only a 10 minute job for goodness sake. So I had a look. It took an hour as the had to butcher the top hanger so they could instal them upside down ffs!!
  8. You're kidding! If someone supplies there own motorcycle parts to me and they are wrong or faulty it's their problem not mine. Very strange statement.
  9. Take their engine then. If they instal it they should warranty it, as they supplied it. If you supply your own engine and it goes pop, you'll have the same situation, and bill, all over again. Also keep your old engine to sell on and get some money back (or rebuild it with trick parts for a later swap )
  10. 12k for a short block?!! You can get a Cosworth short block for £6k! I'd be very wary of their diagnosis if they're not used to that model. It generally seems (from reading posts on here) that most Nissan main dealers aren't familiar with Zs. I expect the extra diagnostics was a leak down test but these tests are only as good as the person running them and interpreting the results. Good luck with it.
  11. M1 ... as in the 30 miles of speed restrictions! Wonderful. It makes Santa Pod seem so much further away at those speeds!
  12. A217 between Banstead crossroads and the roundabout just before Belmont.
  13. It doesn't matter how wealthy you are, being trapped in that car, in that situation had to be majorly embarrassing But on the subject of generalising 'women drivers', yeah there's some dreadful ones, but there's also some equally dreadful men drivers too. Fortunately my girlfriend is a real demon behind the wheel (but safe too), and as for reversing and parking, she puts me to shame!
  14. Ditto to never noticing them, now I do!
  15. looked fairly stock at a glance, just driving toward sutton past the hospital. 80 year old and his mrs?!! Cool, I could handle that lol.
  16. Don't!! I'm up to my eyes in it with my coupe already
  17. You could try just selling the guts as that is the part with the platinum in it. We've got a yard near here that has a 'cat man' turn up once a week so check with your local yard before going there. Unfortunately this service is usually used by undesirables that come and cut your cats off your car/van/truck at night and cost you a fortune in repairs
  18. Great photos, some real rich boys toys there! Even the tech with the laptop wears a white shirt hmmm ... there's something about roadsters I'm starting to find appealing .... uh oh
  19. Could've got a couple of hundred quid down the scrap yard for those!
  20. As Mark at Abbey has shown me, putting stock cats on can almost eliminate any exhaust smoke as they burn so hot and burn off the oil. Though only a temporary fix, it does work. So as you've 'de-cat'd ' yours, maybe get hold of some used cats and fit them 'til you can do a motor swap/rebuild. I think Mark may have some available, worth a call.
  21. Well, if I pack the container full, both end they cant take out everything and search the whole container, can they? And what sort of fees are there? Customs can do what they want, literally ! If they want to send a king charles spaniel up your backside looking for a supercharger they will! Fees will be duty (on the goods) (variable depending on what you ship) and VAT on the shipping and duty (oh yes, they even charge you on their taxes!!)
  22. Last time we brought a container in from CA it was about £1600 but you don't get away with 'fees' just because it's in a container. Customs will open them at random so shipping agents don't take risks and therefor declare what's in there. Now, if your wheels happened to be in the boot of a car and the lock didn't work so the boot couldn't be opened ........
