Might you be considered high risk due to your job? Do you cover very high miles? Don't want to rub it in but Sky were very good with me when I insured with them last month - I'm 28 (just!), had no NCB in my own name (although 10 years as a named driver which was taken into consideration). My previous car was a 1.8 Almera and before that a 106. When asked if I'd ever driven a Zed before or any other performance car I told them the truth which was only on the Zed's test drive! And they quoted me £850 (excess £350). Hope you manage to get a better quote, S.

Makes sense but I can't be the only one that doesn't like the thought of only half a bonnet done as you'd think, and which Waltzinblack confirms, that you'd get a visable line on the bonnet where the vinyl stops. I can't imagine the cost of the extra vinyl being an issue and I wouldn't have thought it was too much extra work for the fitter to cover the whole bonnet but could be wrong I guess! S.

Saw the above this afternoon at about 3.30pm (was a coupe, not the spotted roadster from a few weeks back). I'm still awaiting my first wave so got incredibly excited and waved like an utter manic. Unsurprisingly I did not get a wave back. S.
-
Thanks Waltzinblack, some great info there. This might be a daft question, so apologies in advance, but why only do half a bonnet? Cheers! S
-
A friend of mine can get me 'mates rates' on something similar called VentureShield which I'm considering once I get the bonnet - anyone know how this compares to the Hexis stuff the OP mentioned? S.

Cheers Bullet - I'll get it on Gumtree tonight. Don't really use that site as much as I should but it's got better recently now you can do national searches rather than forced to contain it to on city. I've sneaked an advert in the local paper (where I work) so hopefully something may come of that too! Yeah, I'll be sad to see it go! I know Almera's aren't usually considered the most sexy of cars but I've enjoyed having it and it's a good looking example of one. Before buying the Zed I'd only ever driven the Almera and a 106 so I'm on a bit of a learning curve still S.

Yeah, extremely annoying that the AutoTrader site doesn't give the location of cars! From doing a bit of detective work it appears that it's in Birmingham. I too bought one with the Nismo on S.

If you don't mind an imported model then this one could be of interest: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p With Nismo too! S.

Hi all, This is probably of no interest at all to many on here but you never know! Our front drive is resembling a second hand car showroom at the moment as between myself and Mr Squee we now have four cars (somone got jealous of someone else's Zed at the weekend and bought themselves a Leon FR to add to the fleet) so we're selling my previous car, a 51 plate Almera Sport+. Feel free to send me a PM if you want any more details/pics. S. EDIT: We're in Chester. ------------------- Nissan Almera Sport Plus 1.8 51 Reg 2001 (2001) 84,500 miles £795 MOT until November 2011. Tax until March 2012. This car has been my baby since I bought it with 65,000 miles on the clock in July 2007 and if I could afford to keep it I would, but I have bought myself a new toy and so need to sell. Since then the car has only covered an average of 5,000 miles a year as my commute was quite short. The good bits: The engine sounds as smooth as silk and it is a real head-turner looks-wise (the Wolfrace alloys on lowered suspension, body kit and privacy glass really set it off nicely). In addition, the cream leather interior really complements the exterior looks. Ideal for a younger driver as despite the sporty looks it is only insurance group 7. The car is mechanically A1. I have scanned the on board computer and there are no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present whatsoever. The QG18DE engine is tuned to provide lots of torque at lows revs, making it feel very nippy around town, yet the engine is quite frugal and still delivers 37 MPG (I recently verified this myself). It also features N-VCT, which is Nissan's version of Honda's VTEC dual overhead camshaft variable valve timing which gives extra power when you really put your foot down. The car has part service history until 2007, after which I have had the oil changed at the local garage at least every 6000 - 7000 miles and changed the air filter and spark plugs myself annually. The car has only covered 84,500 miles, which is a relatively low mileage for a Japanese vehicle. The engine is chain-driven, so no worrying about cam belt changes. In the past year the car has had new brake discs, pads and calipers all round, a brand new complete exhaust system, front and rear engine mounts and a new tyre. All tyres have plenty of tread on. I have every MOT certificate and a ton of receipts. The bad bits: The steering lock does not work. It was like this when I bought the car and I have never been able to figure out why. One alloy is quite badly kerbed thanks to Manchester airport car park and the others also have some less severe kerbing. There are four or five surface scratches of about 8cm just below the driver's door handle thanks to a careless 4x4 driver at Sainsbury's, however I suspect these may T-Cut out. There is a deep scratch on the front bumper of about 8cm (Sainsbury's again!). I have a touch-up paint kit for the car which should sort this out and which I will give to the buyer. There are a few stone chips here and there which is only to be expected on a car of this age. The interior is a bit tatty. If you have any questions at all or would like to see pictures of the above please do not hesitate to get in touch. Below is the full feature list for this car. Appearance: Metallic silver paint Factory-fitted front spoiler Factory-fitted rear spoiler Factory-fitted side skirts 17" Wolfrace "Street Mantis" alloy wheels Low-profile tyres with plenty of tread Lowered suspension Body-coloured bumpers Body-coloured mirrors Chrome door handles Aluminium scuff plates with 'Almera' logo Factory-fitted silver windscreen washer jets Front fog lights Factory-tinted windows Clear side indicator repeaters Comfort: Electric windows Power-assisted steering Air conditioning (needs re-gassing) Electric sunroof Electric mirrors Full leather seats Factory-fitted Momo leather gear knob and gaiter CD / radio / MP3 / USB / SD card head unit with iPod / MP3 player input Four speaker audio system Height-adjustable steering wheel Illuminated vanity mirrors Convenience: Outside temperature gauge - warns of icy conditions Front cup holders Coin rack Central locking Split 60/40 folding rear seats Full-size spare wheel Rear wash / wipe with water jet Curry hook - no more spilt take-aways! Rear 12 volt power outlet Safety: Four star Euro / NCAP rating ABS All round disc brakes Driver's airbag Passenger's airbag Side airbags Isofix child seat anchor points Rear headrests Immobiliser Deadlocked doors High-level rear brake light

Pies, lovely lovely pies, pie appreciation thread
Squee replied to Willy P's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Seeing as there's so many pie fanatics on this thread I thought I'd share this pic of what's possibly the best example of 'fusion' food ever seen. I saw them in a high class shop in the high class town of Ellesmere Port a few weeks back and got so excited that I had to take a picture: Unfortunately I was so excited by the concept I forgot to buy any. S. PS...I hope I get my Zed back from the garage soon - been at the garage for a week now! Getting rather bored hence uploading pictures of pies on the internet -
I love driving in the States and undertaking is (mainly) allowed there - in some ways I think it makes for safer driving as drivers seem to be aware of movement in both lanes. Maybe it works ok out there as, aside from around large cities, the motorways are a lot more quiet compared to over here - could be a bit chaotic on a snarled up M6 I guess! S.

Apologies if this has already been posted before but thought it might be of interest... In this month's 'Which' magazine they have vehicle scratch removers on test with T-Cut coming out on top and beating ScratchX. Link to article is here: http://www.which.co.uk/scratchremovers. To be honest I often find Which articles to be written by idiots for idiots but thought I'd share anyway! S.

Looks mint! I'm hoping to have my first play with a clay bar soon and those pics are very encouraging! S.

I had a similar-ish exchange with my neighbour yesterday - had a courtesy car since Monday as my Zed's gone back to the garage to have some wheel bearings replaced etc (but that's another story). When my neighbour first saw my car two weeks ago he couldn't wait to shout across the road that "those cars are very fast and unsteady you know!" at me and when he saw that I was Zed-less this week he rubbed his hands in glee and asked me if I'd "crashed it already?". I replied that it was back at tha garage "being made faster" (a lie, but thought I'd say it anyway given his comments from a couple of weeks back). He then told me that the courtesy car, a Megane, was "better than that Nissan anyway!". What a cheeky c-nut! he's clearly jealous so I aint too bothered and I think he's a Megane fanboy as him and his Mrs both drive one. Saddos! Really missing my Zed now! been without him since Monday and still don't know when I can get him back S.

Would you buy one? (Updates with pics page 2)
Squee replied to neo-ninja's topic in Off Topic Discussion
How would you get on with copyright? As Ozz said Lego is trademaked isn't it? You say that costs would be about £150 and sell for £200 - how long would it take to make one? If it's only an hour or so then that's all good but if it takes a week then there's probs better ways of spending your time to get more cash. I must say though they do look well mint. Give Ricey's suggestion of raiding the Poundshops a go - a couple of summers ago I was buying packs of craft beads for £1 (obviously as it was a Poundshop!) and sold them for £20! Unfortuantely I only managed to source 25 of them but was well worth it. In all fairness though I probably have wasted tons of cash by buying stock that turns out to be crap. In fact our spare room looks like Del Boys flat as it's packed with brown boxes full of crap from my various failed ventures I know on the moneysavingexpert site there's a very lengthy discussion regarding earning extra cash from chat lines if that's your cup of tea! S. -
Saw a rather nice blade in the carpark at Lidl in Whitchurch (Shropshire) today at about 3.45pm. I'd just dropped off my baby to have some work done at the garage but was given a rather nice Megane coupe cabriolet as a courtesy car which numbed the pain a tiny bit! S.

What's funny is the Norway shootings post has had 5 replies whereas this has had 78. Remember my comment about who kept her in the media... True that it seems this thread has disproportionate replies compared to the Norway one in the context that this is about one person dying compared to 90 odd but there's not much debate to be had about the Oslo one unless anyone here is an extreme right wing neo Nazi. In which case they'd have a VW probably anyway so not be on a Nissan forum. Winehouse on the otherhand opens up the whole drugs policy topic which you're gonna get more differing views on I guess. And quite right too!

I don't really get the whole 'role model' argument. What's the criteria for someone being a role model? Being famous? Often when a celebrity is caught being up to no good people say what a bad role model they are but I'm sure Amy Winehouse never wanted to be a role model - she just wanted to be a musician. The line get's a bit blurred when footballers are concerned as so many children so aspire to become professional sportsmen and women but to expect Wayne Rooney to be a role model is overly optimistic. Might sound harsh but if a parent encourages their child to look up to celebrities so much that they want to emulate them then they're a bit of a chump. Is it me or is the whole 'celebrity role model' concept quite new? I certainly didn't have any famous role models when I was a kid and it never did me any harm! S.

Cheers fella! will get some of that ordered tonight! Loving the pics by the way and getting sorely tempted to upgrade my exhaust! As mentioned only had the Zed two weeks and don't know where to start with the mods S.
-
Thanks guys! So it literally says it on the tin haha. Just double checked and defo no Nismo enhaust for me! I think as my car has the Nismo bodykit that's why I was asked. Unfortunately I don't think the previous owner ever cleaned the tail pipes so looks like I have my work cut out to get em nice and shiny again! S.
-
sorry to crash this thread and apologies for a stupid 'newbie' question but how can you tell if the exhaust is a Nismo one? Someone asked me if I have them on my Zed and I looked pretty thick when I said I didn't know! Only had him a fortnight so it's still all new to me. Thanks S.

Was in CostCo earlier and noticed they had big packs of microfibre cloths at 36 for £12-ish near the car stuff area. Other people seemed to be snapping them up and CostCo are meant to be top quality. Personally I couldn't face the ques as the shop was rammed but think I'll be going back later in the week to purchase. Just thought I'd share as it seemed a good price for a potentially good quality product and no doubt many of you will be outside detailing now the weathers a bit better S.
-
don't want to put a downer on things (and no doubt you already know this) but you will get heavily stuffed on VAT and import duty. I buy lots from the States and whilst a couple of years ago things used to slip into the country without being molested now EVERYTHING get's pawed at by customs and charges slapped on It may well still be cheaper than buying from within the UK but it's best to be prepared for it. S.

sorry for the old thread revival but came across this whilst searching for the Poorboys Black - proper awesome job on that Passat! Looks 'mazing. Unfortuantely I don't think I can invest in a G220 right now - what do you think the best manual applicator is? I've read on some sites to use an applicator sponge but I thought sponges were evil when it came to detailing? Hopin the rain will stay away this weekend so I can give my lovely Zed a wax for the first time! Really, really want to get some of the Black Hole potion. S.

Who are you?!? don't think I've spied you before....although I have seen an Azure blue in Boughton a couple of times. Unfortunately we passed going round a bend and there was no chance to participate in any waving so I'm still waiting for that first wave! Glad to see someone else in the 'hood though! S.
