  1. Aw, thanks all Well, I might be a little bit older but I'm certainly not any wiser as still persevering with that ruddy ZX which is causing all kinds of drama! The 350 was feeling a bit neglected so I celebrated my birthday by giving him a Meguiars bath n wax this afternoon and I think you'll agree he's looking pretty hot! I've always loved the smell of the Megs products and a bit disappointed that they don't do 'smellies' for humans so decided as it was my birthday I'd treat myself have a bubble bath with the Meguiars Gold Class so now I'm showroom clean and smell the best I ever have and before anyone posts a reply with a certain smilie...no there's no pics! S.
  2. Nicely done! Did you ever get round to putting your personal plates on the Merc? S.
  3. +1 on using Pepipoo for advice - some very helpful stuff on there! Defo worth a fight! S.
  4. Sounds like Odeon over here have got the PR machine fired up (excuse the pun). It was saying on the radio that Odeon are gonna search all customers over the weekend going to see the film....sounds like shameless self promotion if you ask me! S. PS. not all Americans are gun nuts. When I was out there recently I saw a few bumper stickers saying "arms are for hugging".
  5. Quick update - car out of the impound, seller's paid everything, turns out car is still taxed and I'm collecting it tomorrow morning. Hopefully S.
  6. Thanks Lexx nice to hear some words of encouragement. Hope your purchase, if you buy the car, goes a bit smoother than mine Progress has been made today....I went down to the local (Chester) DVLA office this morning and they were incredibly helpful - totally different to the t0sspots at Shrewsbury - they were able to provide me with an official acknowledgement that the DVLA head office has the V5 and have given me stuff that will allow the police to release my car. Tomorrow morning the seller and I will try again to get it back - hopefully with more success than yesterday I would have gone this afternoon to sort it out but I had to work this afternoon. Thanks again all! S.
  7. Morning y'all! Cheers again for your input...even though most of you are a bunch of cynics There are other cars out there.... not sure I would trust the current registered owner or the guy selling... interesting they are on the same forum but the current seller did not seem to know the owner?! If you continue with this check everything as Ricey says. I would just walk even if it it is all legit and go find a car with less of a dubious record. They do know each other but the guy who's still the registered keeper (which we found out from the police yesterday) sold the car in 2009 and the current owner (guy I'm buying from) bought it in Autumn 2011 - the car changed hands twice in that time so the current owner assumed that it was one of those owners who'd have the V5. It seems that there's a fair few ZX's that for whatever reason, perhaps as they're bought as projects thus are SORN, or because are solely track toys, are missing all the documentation...some people just aren't as meticulous as others when it comes to paper work! I'll just see what today brings I guess. Even though the guy who sold the car in 2009 (still registered keeper apparently) has offered to come to the police station tomorrow with the seller and I we need to somehow get the seized notice as that's required before the car can be released. Also the 2009 guy lives almost 3 hours away and it will be a bit of a logistical nightmare. But we'll see! The seller is only very young and is genuinely devastated by all of this drama. Of course leaving an uninsured and untaxed car on a public road isn't a good idea but not everyone has the luxury of off road parking. And he lives in a very small town where more of a blind eye is turned to that sort of thing as opposed to in a big city. I don't seem to have much luck with Zeds and V5's as it took me over 6 months to get the documents for my 350Z and that was bought in a "normal" transaction from an independent dealer. Hopefully I'll be able to post up some good news later Thanks again to everyone, S.
  8. Well a bit of a breakthrough....I've just spoken on the phone to the person who I found out today is the registered keeper and he's kindly offered to come to the police station with the seller and myself on Friday to get the car released. This guy I spoke to hasn't actually had the car since 2009 and is a bit baffled as to how he's still the registered keeper (the police lady told us his name hence we found out). He and the seller are regulars on the ZX forum and the car has plenty of forum history - if it wasn't for that I would have walked a while back. car has MOT til Feb! As I have the V5 document references I've checked it's past MOT history etc. I'll update if I get anywhere! Thanks again for your help, S.
  9. Cheers fella! Unfortunately that wasn't an option as Stoke man had filled in the V5C2 form with his details but never bothered to send it off. I asked the DVLA if I could do it at a local office but was told the only way to 'over write' his details would be sending it along with a completed V62 form to Swansea which is what I did. I guess I could have sent it 'internally', getting the local DVLA to send it to Swansea (and getting a receipt from them) but from past experience it's MUCH quicker to send it yourself via Special Delivery. S.
  10. Cheers for your advice all. I know that a logical reply from an 'outsider' to the situation would be to walk but I still want the car. The DVLA have told me that there's no problem with the V5 being transferred into my name, just that it takes up to 6 weeks. The seller is saying he's gonna cover the impound costs and like I say I've not paid for it yet apart from the £200. Thanks for your kind words Will I'm used to making a mess of things S.
  11. The new keepers supplement I got off the Stoke guy had been used once but you only get one "go" of it as the post office stamps it. The guy I'm buying it from has only had cause to tax it once as he's only had it less than a year and he taxed it online although obviously never had the disc. Although you're meant to display a disc it didnt cause too many problems as the coppers can check tax status from your numberplate. S.
  12. Hi all, This is a bit of a complicated one so please bear with me and please advise if you can! Some of you might know that I bought a Z32 a couple of weeks ago. A condition of the sale was that the seller was going to do some jobs on the car before I paid for it. A couple of weeks has passed whilst the parts have been sourced and he's been working on it and I was going to collect it later this week. The car has been mainly parked on the road near his house. However the car was untaxed and also his insurance on it recently ran out and I hadn't insured it as the car still wasn't mine. Unfortunately the car was seized by the police last night and taken to an impound near Shrewsbury and we've both spent literally all day trying to get it released but with no luck. The main problem is regarding the V5. The seller has never actually had the V5 and despite making a good attempt to get it from the previous seller never actually got round to it. He's a pretty laid back guy and I can see why not having it wouldn't have been such a major deal that it would be to someone else. I wasn't that comfortable buying it without any documentation so I got in contact directly with the previous owner and arranged to get the V5 directly from him as he didn't live too far away (in Stoke on Trent). When I get there it turns out that he never actually got round to registering it in his name thus didnt have the V5 himself (or at least didn't want to give it to me for some reason), but he did give me the new keepers' supplement (V5C2 or something), along with a load of other old paperwork ie old MOTs. As the tax needing sorting I sent off the new keepers supplement to the DVLA as soon as I got it from the Stoke guy as it says it take 4-6 weeks to process the form. It was sent via Special Delivery and I have proof that it has arrived there. I also have a photocopy. The seller and I have spent all day going to and from Shrewsbury police station and the Shrewsbury DVLA office to trying to sort this but the DVLA office couldn't help us as although they acknowledge they've received the V5C2, it hasn't been processed and can't be found internally (it sounds like it's in a pile waiting be be processed and there's nothing "on the system" saying it's in my name/being processed in my name). The police say the photocopy of the new keepers supplement isn't acceptable documentation despite the proof that it's got to the DVLA and it also turns out the coppers can't release the car without the seized notice which the seller doesn't have. He is however going to try and speak to the copper tonight when he comes on shift who's responsible for the seizure. As it stands the car will be crushed within 14 days if we can't get it released and the DVLA say transferring the V5 in my name takes 4-6 weeks. It is also of course incurring a £20 fee per day. It is very possible that we can get an extension so it's not crushed. So does anyone have any advice? Someone I spoke to at the DVLA in Swansea said we should speak to a police liaison officer who should be able to help but the policewoman on the front desk told us "we don't have any of those in Shewsbury". The car was bought from the ZX forum and it's been a very laid back and informal kind of agreement. The seller is saying he'll pay all of the costs and is feeling very bad about everything. We've become quite good friends over the last couple of weeks so I'm not going to tell him to get f*cked and sort it out himself and also as the car was insured, this morning, in my name and ultimately will be registered to me, it has to be me that the car is released to. I will add that I haven't actually paid for the car yet although I did voluntarily give the seller £200 as a deposit. Thanks for reading and sorry if it's a bit of a confusing read! Please advise it you can! S.
  13. You can spot me on the Hoole roundabout here then Fodder I've seen a red JDM (think it was 53 on the plate) at Broughton Retail Park a few times. Still not spotted you haha - you're in the Upton area aren't you? S.

To be fair the sound ain't too good and it was far from an ideal location to do a video shoot as there's a big roundabout at the top of that road so couldn't really go for it. Just thought I'd share as it's my first attempt at YouTube fame I'll try and get a better one sometime Put one up of yours Neil! S.
  15. More to the point.....was she foxy? Um. Well she's not really my type - wrong gender to start with I'm sure Builder49 wouldn't say no S.

My friend recently uploaded a clip of my Buddyclub with Berks (HFCs, not de cats) so thought I might as well share it here S.
  17. Spotted a brand new 370z GT edition (with the decals) on the Boughton roundabout/junction, Chester tonight at about 5.15. Plate started with DG12. At least I think it was a 'G'. A very frightened looking lady was driving and didnt seem to recognise a 350z a matter of feet away Was in a kind of off black with gold stripe and decals. Nice car but not too sure on the colour - I like my blacks black S.
  18. Isn't it still free to sell on PH? If so then you might as well give it a go! Get it on GumTree too S.
  19. Glad you've got it all sorted. Now you can start your summer job doing the airport transfer run Was the bloke at MB you dealt with Tony? he's the one who's been pretty sound with my Dad in the past. I'm surprised they actually rang you though - whenever we've used them they've acted like they're allergic to phones and never call. Like most mechanics that is though I guess. What year is your car? S.
  20. Really sorry to hear this Chris I'm guessing that all of the perps are over 18 if they spent the night in the cells? That might make things easier for you if you want to pursue them in a civil court. Hope you get it sorted and keep us informed! S.
  21. 30 next year! but thanks for the compliment. I sometimes still get ID'd for buying booze which is fine by me! I've got another NCB related conundrum...in the post on Saturday I received a totally unexpected 'certificate of NCB' from Admiral showing that I have full 10 years kinda annoying as the day before I'd paid the £594 to L.W. assuming that I'd only got 5 years NCB! Hopefully I'll be able to amend my protected to get the 10 years as the policy is still new and they want proof of the 5 years anyway. ouch. That's a stinger! were you not able to transfer it to the new car? S.
  22. It's actually my one year 'anniversary' with my Zed, Mr Zoomer, today. We went out for dinner last night to celebrate - a full tank of the good stuff for him and a KitKat for me S.
