* Gamers * new Sony 3D multi tv
DannyBoy replied to Michael robinson's topic in Off Topic Discussion
That's a slightly different thing, works on sending two images out at different angles, so perfect for a car where you can predict roughly where people are sitting. not sure it would work so well for a living room unless you could adjust the viewing angles to suit your particular seating setup. * Gamers * new Sony 3D multi tv

Sorry but that's not true mate. The Active Shutter method of 3D reproduction (which is the one that sony use, the other being polarisation like you get in the cinema) just alternately shows frames of left and right eye, whilst the glasses only allow the appropriate image to be seen by the correct eye. this happens so fast that your brain can't tell what's hapening but you're actualy only ever seeing with one eye at a time. All you have to do to create this dual image effect is switch two pairs of glasses totally 'on' and totally 'off' in opposition, so that each person only sees the picture they should. It's more an interesting new approach than a revolutionary leap forward. DB -
The VS kit is personal (bad) taste, but the BS in the headline isn't: 2003 and 313? I think not mate DB

Not just 20 bhp http://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-driv ... mbers.html I have gone from a DE (276 bhp) to a HR (313bhp) engine, I would never go back. You also get 1000 more revs to play with as well. In my humble opinion, save/wait for the HR. The Half-way house is to do what i did, and use the money you'd spend on an HR to get a nice DE and spend a few grand tuning it. Admittedly it's still only 307bhp instead of 313, but the torque delivery is now in another league, and you get the soundtrack of the Milltek/Berks combo as well which more than makes up for the 6bhp DB

Yea, wasn't sure about that whole 'V8 Vantage is useless' thing. Admittedly i've never driven one, but i can't see how you could ever call 420bhp underpowered, and whilst it's true you could get a quick 911 for less cash, you would then have a Porsche, and not an Aston Martin. Think he missed the point a bit. DB

I actually emailed the seller and i think this time it's a case of the dealer being fed a load of BS by whoever part-exed the car. They seem pretty convinced that it is what they say it is, but have asked me in response whether it appears genuine to someone who knows the cars. They say it has a Nismo supplement in the handbook though, so someone's done a pretty good job of it if it is just a crock of s**t. DB

I realise this is a bit of a resurrection, but I actually got a reply to the email I sent the seller about the eBay listing. The guys seem fairly certain they know what's going on with the car. This is a direct quote, nothing omitted except the intro: 'It's not a UK car. It is a 2002 car imported in 2005. There is a Nismo handbook supplement bound into the main document pack. It states it is an Export 'Track' Edition. It does not have a bodykit and has a gas flowed exhaust and tuned system with induction alterations... Lightened Aluminium bonnet and tailgate... It states 300BHP in this Form. It certainly does have Brembo Brakes (calipers powder coated gold and embossed with the word Brembo' I wouldn't bother posting this but the seller asked if i could clarify if this information sounded genuine, but while it still sounds dodgy to me (300BHP from an exhast and induction kit?) I don't actually know whether any of that could be true. So, any ideas people? DB
-
I'm feeling in a 'self-righteous arsehole ( )' mood tonight so i already have, lol DB
-
Yea the Track Edition was one of the US spec levels, one of the lower ones. DB

Is there actually any way of stopping people doing this? It seems unlikely that they should be able to get away with it legally. Thing is, if no one says anything they probably will get some poor sap coughing up 7K for an old 62k non-gt car with a nismo badge plastered on the back. Surely false advertisement or something? DB

Picked up my car from Jez today after having a nice long shopping list fitted: Plenum Spacer Milltek cat-back Berks HFCs Uprev Front DBA 4000s and DS2500 pads Braided brake lines all round New ARB drop links all round Front banana arm bushes Geometry re-alignment New gearbox oil with molyslip Feels like a new car, the Dyno says 307bhp ('04 DE) and the butt dyno agrees. Significantly more power, especially down low in 3rd/4th. The molyslip has certainly quietened the embarassing 1st to 2nd shift a bit, and the Milltek and Berks combo had me gurning like a child the whole way home . Great job and great service Bang on quote and on time with no fuss (except for a bank fail causing payment issues ). DB

Good call, TBH I think most people have grown out of using HDR for the uber-saturated comic-book look anyway. I only really use it as a way of shooting backlit or very shiney (car) objects to capture light levels accurately. DB
-
I'd be prepared to stump up some cash to co-own a car, but couldn't justify buying a second zed all for me just to race. So, count me interested. DB

Yep, shared ownership looks to be the way forward with this if it was to go ahead. I reckon two or three committed parties and a bit of sponsorship on top should make this affordable for those who wanted to give it a go (such as me). But that's possibly getting ahead of the game a bit as this is still nowhere near happening. DB

They really shouldn't be photoshopped as it's a photography challenge rather than a drawing one. It is however difficult to tell sometimes if something is photoshopped. For that reason I'll leave it up to people to hopefully leave them un photoshopped, if however there is obvious evidence it's photoshopped i'll fire a request back for the unprocessed original I'm guessing any level of HDR-ing is out of the question then? I was considering going in with a mate to get a 944 to track prep and do a bit of amateur motorsport a while back, and the reason that died was that at the end of the day neither of us really wanted to end up with a 944. A zed on the other hand would be very interesting, much more expensive, but i think much more rewarding as well. I'll watch this with interest. DB

Exactly the same issue with mine, so would like to know as well before i replace stuff that isn't broken. DB

I think the word is 'nerd-gasm' DB

Just put my Zed up for sale, looking at an Audi A4
DannyBoy replied to chrisgunton's topic in 350Z General
I would definitely stay away from the diesel A1s mate, had a brand new one as a courtesy car when my old A3 was in at Cambridge Audi and they're the worst kind of diesel engine, all the power in a tiny band between about 3-3.5k at the top of the rev range and soul-destroying lack of torque everywhere else, properly hated it and i only had it 2 days. A3 FTW DB -
The best bit about that is that half of those pictures are clearly cats DB

YOU MUST read & look at this!!!!!!!!!!!

+ about a million Steve Jobs died of cancer, which sucks, it really does. However, he did not die for the iPhone, he didn't die for his revolutionary marketing ideas, he just died. The 382 British personnel who have died in Afghanistan, three of whom were my personal friends, absolutely did die for what they believed in. They may not have had any world-altering ideas or revolutionary beliefs but they were fully prepared to die for the beliefs they did hold. The fact that this loss goes relatively unnoticed due to the death of a single man from natural causes, I think is wrong, very wrong. DB

Nismo 19" LMGT4 - brand new - $2000
DannyBoy replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Spotted on Ebay or Other
Yep, absolutely, it's also illegal. I didn't make it clear, but i never actually did that for the above reasons, the sellers just offered to do it without me even asking.
