  1. Feck me! Just had a dude come to my door to inform me about the new Government energy scheme. I said "what's that"?. Guy said " it's a new scheme where the government pay to have your boiler replaced if you own your own home and your boiler is over 5 years old". I said " sign me up pal" guy said "what benefits are your family on"? me "none, we all work". Guy "sorry tough luck, you don't qualify" me "feck off out my gate"! Honestly what incentive does folk have to work in this country, I don't mind folk getting help, but that's ripping the pish! The only folk who I think should get this kind of help are Pensioners!
  2. I think someone has been trying to buff there finger prints off!
  3. I posted a photo of my new car when the forum first went online. Now when i try to upload photo's including the original photo, its says image is too large.

Yip, the first ones where only in se, but the m sports are coming down now. I've been thinking about what to do, whether to keep what I've got, buy a 335i and I can't get this out my head just now! http://www.evo.co.uk...5is_review.html Test drive one. You will never know otherwise. You have some mad money to burn. If I had 30k+ I'd buy a 996 turbo or a gt3 or a c63 or a nsx or many other things I wish I hadn't spent so much now. When you see the cars available for under £10k it makes you think. Also I bought my car because I had a bad sports injury and thought I couldn't train again, but I've made a full recovery and back training and I could be using the money to fund that.

You just keep telling yourself that Honestly mate, I'm really enjoying it. It's great to go somewhere without costing the earth. I'd love a 335i but it would have to look exactly like mine. I was looking at one today at bmw in Glasgow. They tried to put me in a bmw z4 18i, which isnt out until next month. It's exactly the same car with the same engine and turbo as the z4 20i. Don't understand how they can sell a car for 3k more and it's only the engine mapping that's different. Yes but thats like saying I go out with a lady boy. Looks the same as a girl. BMW ultimate DRIVING machine not ultimate car to look at as it looks like a 335i but doesnt have the same engine or performance. The 335i is a good looking car but its the engine I would buy it for. Also you spent probably over 15 or £20k? How much fuel and is that saving plus a 350z will depreciate less than a new bmw. Your money though and as long as you are happy. Try £30k! WHATTTT!!! and how much money do you intend to save on fuel and deprecation? I can't argue with you! I thought my mileage was going to increase from 3000miles a year to about 15000 miles, but turns out I've only done 900 miles in it in the past 3.5 months. So I've probably saved about 40 quid, lol If I had known that then, I would have put the extra to it and bought the 335i http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/64893-my-new-car/ Nice though?

I loved my zed but that's the reason why I traded it in for my new e92 320i m sport plus edition. I think it's best of both worlds, great look and good economy. But I do miss the power of the zed. Also the new bmw engines aren't far behind the diesel equivalents nowadays. The 2.0l turbo charged engine in the new 328i is awesome, 0-62 in 6.2 seconds and 42mpg. There fitting it in the new z4 28i and it 0-62 in 5.7 sec, tip speed 155 mph and 42 mpg.
  11. , I've not hidden the fact I get shift allowance etc, but I still get nowhere near that amount for a days work.
  12. Opinions and comments are one thing, insults are another, watch your mouth dude!
  13. http://www.350z-uk.c...424-zed-prices/ Similar situation to myself there mate, you don't like getting fleeced, so why is it acceptable for me. Why is it ok for you to lecture about your overheads etc, but when Nissan apply the same principle to you it's a rip off? read my reply.... i got a quote and excepted it. yes its expensive but i needed to pay dealership rates to get a dealership stamp on a new vehicle. the difference is you can shop around, i couldn't I did shop about, I got a few quotes, you could also have used an independent. Point is you and the Nissan dealer has big overheads, but I deliberately avoided companies and still got shafted!
  14. Thing is mate, there running a business, where they have overheads, staff wages, heating etc. if you didn't like the price you should have got a few quotes. Also the tech's have expensive tools to buy and maintain. You get what you pay for!!! That also applies to the cars there selling, you get a guarantee, unlike buying private. LOL Thing is I'm not actually complaining, I got a quote and accepted it as necessary as I want the dealership stamp for at least the first couple of services. And 20% tax return plus all the VAT reclaimed is better than nothing Reads like a rant to me, just saying!

  17. No thanks, like most folk I know, I finished paying, time to save my cash!
  18. I've used several guys recently, jobs from knocking down walls to fitting staircases, bathrooms, rough casting, decking to name just a few. I may have been unlucky but when I sat down and looked at what I've been getting charged the absolute minimum was £300 a day. To answer your question regarding the flooring, I had 3 quotes all around the same price. I gave the guy the job who I was going to use to do other work a few weeks later.
  19. Exactly, you pay your employee's in excess of £150 a day, so I guessing that's about £150 a day. I'm not approaching big companies or companies in general. I'm asking tradesmen who work for a company to do a sidy, or a one man band. So why should I be getting quoted £300 a day. So how much do you think it costs to employ a tradesman who is paid £150.00 a day by Builder 49 or any other small company ? Obviously a lot more than there daily rate, but I'm not approaching small companies, as I've already mentioned about 3 times. I'm approaching one man bands. But it may prove cost effective to approach a company in the future.
  20. Fair point, I thought it would take 2 days, so I accepted the quote. Guy had no problem doing it in 1 day so fair play to him. Lesson learnt like everyone else I've spoke to regarding trades recently. Like the other folk I will not be in a hurry to give them any more work.

  22. Responsibility! Fair enough. So where do you stand on gas fitters? They have a responsibility too, as if they get it wrong they could kill far more in one go than the single person a surgeon could. Everyone has there worth, I agree with that. Consultants deserve there pay, gas fitters probably deserve there pay as they have extra skills, responsibilities, qualifications etc. the same applies to structural engineers, pilots, etc. but for a joiner to charge what they do is wrong. How would you know what a joiner charges, you paid someone who isn't a joiner £300 to lay some laminate in 7hrs Just admit it this isn't a rant at tradesmen at all it is just you realising you are a tool and admitting it on here for us all to enjoy Wrong, I talking about all the tradesmen I've used recently. surely a bit of common sense required, if all the trades you ask to give you quotes are as you say too expensive doesn't that give a clue that its the going rate??? You've hit the nail well and truly on the head. That's the point I've been trying to make all night and its simply too expensive and that's why folk I speak to don't want to spend any cash on improving there Holmes. Then the trades have no work and they have to put the price's up again to make a living wage. It's a vicious circle and that's why I used to pay trades £150 a day and over the past few years it now £300 a day!
  23. Covered this earlier, yip I would pay him more.

  25. Just for the record I do get paid shift allowances for weekend work etc, but its still no where near what I've been getting charged. As I said earlier, I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I think it's wrong what I've been getting quoted and charged. It's only my opinion, you are perfectly entitled to disagree.
