  1. Hello mate long time no see, Sorry to hear the news hope you get her back on the road ASAP
  2. I heard you paid that much for your Zed
  3. Looks good mate BUT - I think you should put it back to how it was 8 weeks ago, O no hang on was it the change you made 9 weeks ago O no I remember it was the change you made 11 weeks ago, but then again it may have been the change just before that or for that matter just after that or the one after that or the one after that .......................... But it's OK cause if you do a search I think about a year ago (or 57 changes back) you said that was it all finished and you were happy
  4. Thanks for that and someone else said that about honeysuckle - I have no idea about gardening so the wife will be choosing - her garden my garage - we need something due to the "temporary" static caravan in the neighbors garden though!
  5. Of course she did - You don't buy a dog and bark yourself
  6. That's not my problem It was a concrete block wall with pillars before so the posts are 1" less than the original pillar so I have actually given him more space - I'm so nice They are a tight fit and Richard my neighbor can roll / drag them down there, last year when he was away his wife did ask me to swap the bottles for her as she can't do it on her own, I said no of course No I did it and it's not that bad 10 minutes of swearing saw the job done.
  7. Some great pics Colin - nice one Great to see Andy out again.
  8. Evening all, well can't do much on the garage just at the moment So in a vain attempt to both keep you lot amused and impress ATTACK (sorry mate still not onto brain surgery yet ) I thought I would share our weekends work Thought we would get the drive moving along and re-establish the boundary line with the neighbor so starting with a few posts and some sleepers to act as a retaining wall - Some new posts at the other end as we cut out some of the hedge to improve access, used some steel base plates on top of the pillars in the old wall for the rest of the posts then started on the rails, finished the rails and added some extra supports (you will see why in a mo) Then the board and some trellis Pickup in the back garden for the first time made a quick bed up for the honey suckle that will eventually grow up and over the trellis The finished job (so far need the retaining wall finished before we can do any more) Happy with that for a weekends work with just me and Mrs K Hope you all had a good one Keyser and the Zed Shed Crew More Soon ..................
  9. This definitely this Keep an eye on the Zed's for sale on here you get some awesome cars come up EDIT - Watch dealer fixes, or cheap fixes to the clicky axle which is basically take the shaft out grease it turn through 90 degrees and put back on, this can work for as little as a couple of months then come back, others have had more success depends how worn they are.
  10. Could be a rich mix. Is it only at startup or under load gear changes as well? 2500 miles that's not even run in yet!!! Has it been parked up for a while? My first idea would be an oil change and a dam good run to get everything moving again, could just be sticky rings
  11. Does this mean I was right? Sorry if I was but it did seem like it to me the other weekend. The rest of you lot have fun without me
  12. If you are taking out leather seats (that is with airbags) then you need to put a resistor across the connector to stop the airbag light coming on, very easy and very cheap to do
  13. clicky axle is a common fault on these and not to bad to fix, notchy 2nd is a sign of gearbox wear, which you should not get in a model of that year as they have the newer improved box, usually it is more noticeable when cold and goes when warmed up, 3rd and 5th often develop a crunch as the synchros start to wear but much more common in earlier models, at top money that one does not sound like a great buy so far! O and along
  14. I believe the answer to your question is no - head has to be removed to replace the valve seals - 2 years is not a long time, unless of course you have done 120,000 miles since the rebuild, you sure it is valve seals/rings and not something else? Is it good old black smoke or is it white, does the smoke smell oily?
  15. I was going to give you a +1 on that then I read the last line To be fair our circumstances changed - as in Mum and Dad got ill so we had to make major changes to accommodate, even if I had known it would only be for 2 years I would have still done it - it's family after all. Now our circumstances have changed again and it was the perfect opportunity to have a makeover, we actually always live in a place f0r 6 months to a year before we start the refurb done quite a few now but this is my last big one - I'll downsize next but hopefully not for a good few years yet, we love this place, location, neighbors and hopefully a very large garage soon
  16. Nothing special 6" (most likely) gravity sewer, had 30 plus tons of concrete removed in the last 2 days but I can't put any back until I pay a fee for a survey they know they cannot conduct approve a plan that has already been agreed in principle (and is a standard solution) and get a letter confirming I can carry on, Of course the fact that the same sewer runs through my next door neighbors garden and that fact that he built a swimming pool in his garden with no ill affect is completely immaterial as he didn't require planning for a pool even though he dug down 2m and filled the resulting hole with water - bet that weighs more than my garage!
  17. O yer I'm sure I would be a ton of fun to be with just now !!! NOT Anyway I can't I still have to rebuild the fence between me and the neighbor - the one I removed to get space to NOT build a garage
  18. O dear - big snag today, went to get building regs approval and they have informed us we have a main sewer running across the back garden This would require some major work to build foundations over so Plan B, C. and D were quickly discussed and discarded and plan F is now in force! Our current cunning plan is to change the design from foundations to ground bearing slab - for those that don't know this basically means instead of digging strip foundations filling them with concrete then building walls up on them to create a box and putting a floor in it you build a huge solid slab of concrete thick enough and strong enough to support the weight of the garage - a huge raft if you will. You then build straight up from this raft with the walls, the advantage here is that you don't dig foundations so do not need to disturb the sewer and only need permission to build over it - the real bummer is that although already agreed in principle that this is and acceptable solution it can take 3 weeks for the approval to come through from the water board and building regs won't inspect anything or let us proceed without said approval - hurry up and wait then!!!! Of course the knock on affect is huge - if the build is delayed by 3 - 4 weeks then the weather will be against us before we complete it thus slowing us down further, we then won't be able to have the outside rendered until next year!!!! So it could mean the garage is not actually finished/useable until next spring, in which case I will actually go mad, as pointed out by Wasso his car is blocking me using my garage and even if it wasn't I can't use my garage as all my tools from the original 3 sheds are either stacked in the Zed Shed or locked in storage so I'm screwed whatever happens I'm off to have a drink now - and I don't even drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Disgruntled Keyser
  19. Do the bodyshops spray cars with it then?? More importantly do I get trade discount ??
  20. Just for your info Sam, Ref the trolley jacks - the epoxy I used handles it well or has so far and we use them a lot!
  21. Hat tip to Lexx as I hijack his thread No seriously - I did the Zed Shed floor (concrete) with Epoxy from here http://www.garagedoctors.net/ However it is very expensive I managed to get 2 tins from a guy for about £10 when collecting my garage door (found second hand on eBay) Had it not been for this I would not have used it due to cost however I have had it down since the shed was built at least 3 years ago it has had everything split on it by way of fluids not to mention paint and thinners and it has survived very, very well - most things clean off easily it seals the surface so no dust from the floor overall very impressed! I'm thinking of going for a cheaper un-branded version of epoxy on the Zed Shed mk2 as it is twice the size so cost is a big factor! I shall follow this thread with interest to see what others have experience of or recommend
