  1. Well I can do it so ...................... You do need a steady hand, be very careful of the sparks (or hot metal fillings the bonnet is ali) they will mark the paint and burn the into the windscreen so make sure it is well covered!!!! After that you just need to practice on something - I use Buster's Zed Other things to be aware of - go slowly and stop often, you will generate a lot of heat so even with a clean edge you can get paint burn outside the area that will be covered! Grinders can "kick" it's when you tilt the disk and the sides wedge against the cut and it throws the grinder out this will leave a nasty gash if you are not careful, experience and practice will teach you when and where to be more careful of that. So get an old sheet of metal and practice first other than that just remember to cover and bare metal with something after you have cut or the rust monster will be in like a shot!!!! Good luck
  2. My first thought would be - A Lot Lack of planning permission ? There is a name for people like you But thanks for that little reminder!!!!!!!
  3. Normal service will be resumed as soon as Andy James returns to work See the way i passed the buck to someone else - Years of practice to be that slick
  4. But he does have wing vents now
  5. Whinge, whinge whinge!!!! For weeks if not months now he keeps on and on about bloody wing vents - looking at replacement wings on flea bay, sending me links and every car show or meet we go to he drags me round to see all the different variants. But will he settle on a look? O no just keeps on looking and umming and rrring it's doing my head in Well enough is enough so tonight when he started on about it again I snapped While he was busy surfing the web for yet more ideas I just assaulted his Zed with my angle grinder That should shut him up !!!!!! I suppose now I have calmed down I should add It will polish out, maybe :
  6. That sounds like bearing mate driving it like that you run the risk of it seizing up and that can put a hole in the block (ask Grundy) You may find a second hand engine is a better way forwards though.
  7. Sounds fairly terminal to me - either bearing or chain I'd go with bearing except the noise seemed to change. Gonna need some work though Good luck
  8. Do you want to paypal me the money or bank transfer?? I will have it spent in no time don't you worry about that New garage door will be the best thing for me at the moment
  9. Sounds good looking forwards to the build
  10. :tumbleweed: ^^^^ That's what the garden looks like Were are we then, ever started one of those simple things and it turns out that it wasn't that simple? All I wanted to do was build a garage in my back garden, nothing complicate in that surely? But it turned out to be one of those simple jobs After the waterboard did the survey and agreed to let me build in my own back garden - thank you - The waterboard techs got involved with the structural engineer and they have between them created a set of foundations that although not completely unbelievable, they would be more at home under a multi-storey car park We have some huge pads over 1m deep and 1.5m square along with some major ground beams - Hows this for pouring a huge amount of money into the ground This little baby turned out to be directly above an old soak away so we had to dig down 2m!!!! Then we have the traditional foundations that will later join into the ground beams we have some blinding on the other side ready for the next layer But we do actually have some blocks in now - would you believe that the second course of blocks is how deep the base has to be Yes I will have a 10" thick concrete base plus it will be strengthened with steel mesh!! It's back to hurry up and wait again at the moment while we wait for the cages to be built hopefully arriving early next week. More when it happens ........
