  1. On another note, we need to get the air from the new Turbo inlet (as formed by Beb) down to the turbo via a filter so ......................... some ally pipe and a filter some chop saw action later load of masking tape to see if it fits all looks good so out with the welder and after a bit of cleaning I got to here Happy with that just need to do the top angle and powder coat it More Soon
  2. So be prepared fo a bit of a mad one So now we have everything cut out we need to make a new scoop ...... but how, I had no idea but I came up with this in the end enjoy cardboard cover thats not to cood sooooo ....................... expanding foam start to shape and build up the low spots getting there the final shape coverd that with tin foil and then got the fiber glass out well it's bigger now more soon ....................
  3. Now for a saga that is still bugging me somewhat, I think we are on the 5th variation and we still don't know if it's going to work but the only way to find out is to build it, drive it and see what happens This solution came about for 2 reasons and several options were looked at, the new charge cooler does not fit under the original bonnet scoop we looked at a few options including using an intercooler and a different style of charge cooler but in the end we went with the one we planned on because it was the best for the job. The engine not being central to the car does not help, anyway we cut out some bits and got the back cover to sit all the way down - Thats the first problem sort of sorted, now we move onto the next - we need to cool the charge cooler so radiator/s are needed I have 4 to choose from the first was going to be this - started making a temp frame up to hold it but it was to big so we switched to 2 smaller rads, first one as we try locations added some tabs to mount them Yes I welded them so they may well leak this is where we ended up with them now we had to get them to fit under the back didnt leave much of the origional Please bear in mind during discussions we considered a lot of options, the first was the front of the car, but that just won't happen without compromising the shape and the crash can so a no go. Next we looked at the side pods in front of the engine rad (other side already has 2 stacked rads engine oil cooler and diff oil cooler) but Sean was concerned that this would reduce the engine radiator efficiency and as the turbo will produce more heat not less we need to do everything we can to get more air into the back, unlike a motorbike or front engine car the radical has the engine directly behind the driver behind a firewall so gets very little airflow. As I say I’m not convinced we have this right yet but in the next post apart from laughing you will have to agree we are gonna get more air back there more in a mo
  4. Hi all, Having an evening off from the garage tonight so thought I would bring you up to speed, few bits n bobs been happening, Strating with this ally off cut - bit of shaping Test fit The AMS 2000 boost controller has a G sensor in it and this will be used in the mapping to help lift off map so I don’t over boost coming into the corners, the instructions recommend it is mounted in line or at 90 degrees to the direction of travel and as close to level as possible. More in a mo ......................
  5. Nice write up mate Keep us informed, hope to get my toy out for some testing in the next 2 months
  6. Nice to see the man that built the garage in it Pleasure to fit some real nice upgrades with you mate, don't forget your old diff is here, see ya soon.
  7. if it does it when the window is up, check the auto drop is working - as in the window drops a few mm when you open the door and goes back up all the way when shut, if not do the reset procedure
  8. along You need to swing by the Zedshed so we can see your new motor, Few owners in and around Bournemouth
  9. It's OK mate - I had my eyes shut as well (I may have used some poetic licence in my story as we all know I am a driving god cause I passed 2 MX-5's on one straight once) You will have to come along when we get the new engine fitted and have another PAX lap see if you like the improvements But this is the problem, Johnny Slowpants has gone out and bought his GT3RS and thinks hes the man, so when he sees anything less than another Porsche in his RVM he cant accept its actually lapping faster than he is, after all hes leaving it for dead down the straights isnt he? I remember more than one occasion when Ive been chasing a mate in a Megane or a Clio, weve caught up some kind of exotica and we have actually had to swap positions as the Porsche (it is usually Porsche drivers) will let a wide 350Z or a 1M lookalike through, but not a Renault. If we are prepared to troll round an entire lap so as not to break the overtaking rules, why cant they pull to the side and lift off for 2 seconds? Mate, Dan and yourself both make a valid point, papa smurf was passenger with me at Bedford and we got stuck behind a 911 Turbo left us down every straight but we nearly ran into the back of him every corner, right bellend .......... So we all agree that there are some prize plonkers with no regard to anyone else spending the same amount of money to be there as someone else, however this does not give anyone the right to pick on someone because they are not as good behind the wheel or lack the confidence to go faster round a bend, it's up to them if they ask for advice about how to be faster then by all means tell them but that article basically says you bought a fast car you’re not that good you will never get better so you can no longer drive on track - What if they are happy not getting faster? Why do they have to get better? The guy that is currently designing the new Bugatti admits he always wanted to be a motorbike champ but realised early on that he could practice as much as he wanted he would never be the fastest so he tried to become the best engineer instead (he ran Porsche for a while and was head of 911 development some would say he did OK) didn't stop him going on track though. We all get annoyed by idiots and that’s not just on the track they crop up all over the place, and as Dan said some of them are good drivers in fast cars my point is being slow on a track day for whatever reason does not mean they are idiots or they should be banned if they don’t get better – leave them alone! Now if you want to have a discussion about not knowing track day rules, being and ar5e on track or coming up the inside of Dan when he wasn’t expecting it then we can but I don’t think our opinions will vary much. PEACE! EDIT: Dan may have a different opinion on the coming up the inside bit
  10. What the guy that wrote this and you lot are missing here is he is talking about drivers like me, let me explain, I go to track in my slightly modified car and get passed by everything from Mini's to supercars and I can't use the “well it's a £150k supercar of course I was taking it easy†excuse, I can't rely on my years of carting or track experience as growing up on a farm the fastest thing I drove was a tractor So I go out and I buy a faster car or modified the current cars engine to make it go faster, now the fact that I still can't judge correct entry speed and have less mid corner control than a new born deer on ice doesn’t matter as I can make so much distance on you down the straights you are never that close that it matters if I corner slow, I may even pass a few MX-5's on a long enough straight and I get to go home having reassured myself I am in fact a driving god What this is referring to is the track day drivers that can actually drive so even if I do get ahead in the straights you catch me in the braking zone and end up pushing me out of the corner - this makes me look bad and can even result in blue (or black as above) flags being waved at me - imagine what that does to my ego!!! This of course applies all the way down the speed field as even I get to sit behind cars thinking is he going to let me passed or what!!??!! What I'm saying is a lot of the field of drivers/cars that goes to track days is probably there to have fun, a lot of people don't have the time or money to have a car for track and for road and the only time they get to open the loud pedal in a nice v10 BMW or whatever (without risking a ticket) is on track, I think it's a bit harsh to say everyone that goes on track has to be a really good driver or must improve in the next 3 sessions - it's an open to anyone event so a bit more tolerance towards other users, I can only remember 2 track days where the organisation was so bad that they didn’t have a word with anyone that was a bit slower and point out to them what they needed to do to allow faster drivers to enjoy the day as well. One of those was so bad it was almost funny Jetpilot was there and he did about 4 laps in a procession of 15+ cars at less than A road pace before he gave up and came in – not a happy bunny Any way each to their own live and let live (and don’t pass me on track )
  11. along The simple equasion is - Power costs so how fast do you want to go? As said above Basic mods should give you 280+ HP fully built NA will be higher but most tend to go for FI as you get more bang for your buck. Good luck with the project
  12. That I do hope. Should be refreshing to drive her, it's been over 2 years since I drove her. Totally forgotten what it's like, might need fresh boxers! Well I started her up yesterday just to keep everything sweet - that noise (I may of had a moment ) I drove it last year (mostly sideways) : we have to revisit the clutch upgrade the brakes as above, sort an air inlet/filter put a front bumper on Wasso needs to put his ipad/music/touchscreen/whatever dash back together then down for MOT assuming it passes that it's all cosmetic bits and any problems that arise after we take it to Castle Comb and rag the life out of it (if we can get passed noise as it bloomin LOUD!) If we pass MOT I would say Wasso should be grinning this summer and to be fair he has waited a while
  13. Looking good keep the updates coming
  14. Ioved the little garage its ace Nice hot wheels collection as well super cool
  15. Glad you got it sorted Matt, let me know on the price when you get a mo
  16. You have a pit so that's great, you can get those portable half height scissor lifts for one side if ya fancied and funds allowed
  17. They will have a set torque but hand tight is enough - if they leak they need a bit more - be careful on ally sumps such as the 350z has you can strip the threads so better to be a bit loose and need a twak (if it leaks) rather than get all manly and strip the threads. You really need to know the draw on the circuit but if it helps 1mm wire should be up to that job plenty of info on the web for cable size against current drawn. for example - http://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/cable-sizing-selection.html
  18. You seem to have it covered - White conector block into the back of the gauage Red wire - to an ignition controlled positive sorce via a fuse (so its not on all the time) Green wire to the sensor Black wire to earth - any earth point on the car so a bolt under the dash (look for an exsisting earth point) If you want to add this to the exsisting oil pressure switch you want a "T" Piece so you can fit both In answer to your last question - The taper on NPT threads allows them to form a seal when torqued as the flanks of the threads compress against each other, as opposed to parallel/straight thread fittings or compression fittings in which the threads merely hold the pieces together and do not provide the seal. Hope it helps
  19. It will be fine when you get rid of that super silent zorst and put something LOUD on - road noise nop longer a problem
  20. Nice mate some subtle but nice mods Let me know how the DAB module progresses (and the cost)
