-
As above, glad your OK and you get things sorted with no drama.

Cool little vid there mate
-
Thanks for sharing But hey at least you had a go
-
I'm with the others M4 and beyond is North Although I like @Jetpilot suggestion it could be Ringwood
-
Thats why I use so much filler to hide the duct tape, the photos are out of focus to hide my bad paint work
-
If it was me I'd Just hacksaw through after 3 and stick them on with some duct tape It's quite surprising that V8 swap I did actually runs I'm sure you will figure it out and come up with some incredibly complicated way to over engineer a mounting and control system for them - I for one am looking forwards to it Keep the updates coming

Cool pic -
Sounds like the clutch thrust bearing has dried out and is making some noise - Not usually a big problem but they will make a noise when the clutch pedal is up, when you press it the bearing comes under pressure and the noise stops. On start up you press the clutch - no engine noise the bearing spins you hear the grinding noise. That's my internet diagnosis

It's nearly always the yellow connector under the passenger seat, the reset works fine unless the fault is still there then the light will come back on every time. Try the connector under the passenger seat then do the reset hopefully you will be good to go after that, The clock spring failure cause the light to come on as it detects a fault in the steering wheel air bay I have only seen that on one Zed so far, it's not a common problem from what I know.
-
A great place it could go would be just as you pull out of the car park and head onto the Ring especially if it happened to the Zed in front of me - which it did to Andy However after we pushed him off the road and completed our laps we topped up his fluid and he managed to drive it all the way back to the south coast including getting on and off the train for the chunnel and the repair wasn't that bad. Additionally Andy now holds the record for the least number of gear changes for a trip between the Ring and Bournemouth Things happen worrying won't stop them do try and have fun @leonk Tsk Tsk - always check the oil

Welcome along -
Have fun with whatever comes next mate
-
Cool - can I come and watch that - the destruction of a perfectly good car just for new seats If you need the hole welded up bring her over I can do it or we can let Buster have a go - he loves to weld stuff
-
They look stunning mate - hope the mod goes well on the drivers seat
-
I'm with BBK, done loads of cash deals I nearly always take a mate Just be sure the car and seller are genuine as above photo proof of seller and the V5 along with an HPI check for the car and you are good to go
-
Always fun having Buster in the Zed shed Gotta give him credit for having a go but his welding does need practice Mind you it may not be pretty but he got good penetration (first time in a while I'm sure ) and it was strong enough (didn't stop me taking the Pi** though Good effort mate hope it works well - not tried it yet!

Short term reduction in pollution from car fumes means less people dying now. - Big short term problem Medium term reduction in pollution from power generation means less people dying in the future. Huge long term problem due to exponential growth! As @SuperStu so eloquently points out Kids have a huge carbon footprint as do all humans, it could be argued that we actually have a bigger problem with the population than we do with how we get our power. The solution is obviously mass genocide - this won't worry @Ekona as long as he can carry on driving his chosen car and isn't on the list. However I may have the answer if we go with the Gaia principle then it follows that - Humans uses fossil fuel - Fossil Fuel kills a large percentage of humans (pollution) Less humans require less power - AF's supply a large percentage of this lower demand Existing fossil fuel last long enough for us to all drive cars until A. The human race dies out B. a suitable sustainable alternative is found. In the interim we should have nothing to worry about and can all carry on as is without a care in the world - Even global warming will be under control. Some may say I'm being naive though?

All I can do is offer hope and support, Ebized is the man on this and gave me loads of help when I built the Zed Shed II in the back garden, at a mere 104 square meters the size of a 3 bed bungalow We had 3 objections, 2 were over development and one was implying I was trying to circumvent the covenants which state only one dwelling per plot - however I left the plans as they were and planning was approved and this was just after having a loft conversion which was also marked as over-development and I had 2 complaints from neighbours about overlook still went through - although I did have to agree to have opaque glass in the bathroom to get round overlook (like I wasn't going to do that anyway!?!) the funniest part was that I also had to have a restricted opening catch on the bathroom window so it only opens 2 inches as a vent again to stop overlook, the funny bit is that it is also the fire escape window so has to be fully opening to be in compliance with building regs, the solution - a quick release restricting catch, in other words a catch that stops the window at 2 inches unless you press a button then the window opens all the way as a fire escape - therefore breaching planning but apparently as long as you have to press a button it's not a breach Planning is just so much fun So it's not a NO until it's a rubber stamped NO and there are usually options. like appeals and small changes / concessions I feel your pain and you have my full support in getting through the red tape required so sanity can prevail GOOD LUCK EDIT : I should also give a mention to @rabbitstew, @ATTAK Z and @Jetpilot who along with a few others gave an assist on my planning app Thanks Guys

Lowering the sub frame on shims should not affect the squat of the car or if it does it would be minimal, rear spring preload has more to do with that, roll centre is to do with converting the spin of the engine through 90 degrees and into the back wheels there are two things here, firstly the rear diff wants to spin not transfer the drive and secondly you want a perfectly straight line from the back of the gearbox down the prop shaft and into the diff, the closer to perfet the less the loss and the strain for the angle, so I would assume the shims will help align the diff and gearbox thereby giving more efficient transfer of power and (by reducing offset) reduce shake I say shake as it's not the same as tramp - shake is caused by the offset from centre so you could say left to right but it's all directions - tramp is up and down - still with me? So solid mounts will reduce the ability of the subframe to move in any direction the diff still has bushes and they can move these could also be replaced with solid, the shims should straighten the drive chain reducing the off centre pressure giving a smoother transition and less side force. FYI - I can tell you from experience that the biggest thing I found that reduced tramp was replacing the rear gearbox mount with a solid bush - this is the other end of the "straight line" problem tighten the rear and the next weakest part will move so basically the gearbox shakes. A solid mount makes a huge difference but the trade of is cabin drum (I was running 450 RWHP in my 350z) How will it affect the handling - when you get it all lined up and solid it won't That's not strictly true! It will mean faster pull away without tram (hopefully) the additional side affects should be a "tighter" more predictable rear end as the "squish" or "cushioning" of the OEM design is removed you are left with the shocks, springs and tyres if these are all good quality (and setup correctly) the car becomes very predictable in the way it responds to any driver input - that can be recovering from a slide or just how much more stable the car is when you stamp on the throttle out of a corner or snatch a gear change the car stays flat and level so less chance of the rear becoming unbalanced. There is a trade off for all this - Noise trust me I had my 350z chassis stiffened and replaced every bush in the car with race or fast road spec replacements handling = awesome, noise = deafening you get loads of cabin noise - worth it???? Hmmm I sold the 350 got a 370 and a track toy but I'm getting old Hope that helps Disclaimer - I know less than John Snow about anything!!!

I have been following this thread out of curiosity, I'm a little lost or confused, it appears the discussion on fossil fuel usage is for the production of electricity, much as I am aware that we are running out of fossil fuel and the rape of the planet needs some urgent attention and is a worthy point for discussion the use of EV's and it's affect on fossil fuel usage is infinitesimally small on that figure at the moment - or I'm misinformed (a distinct possibility given the control of the media) As I see it you can't use fossil fuel as a "complete" justification for driving an EV (but every little helps) by the same token if you are trying to "save the planet" you can't drive any new car as the amount of pollution produced to build any new car even if recyclable materials were used in its production when added to the pollution the vehicle produces are far greater in the short term than carrying on driving some old gas guzzler you currently have! I am fully aware my point if used as an argument have huge holes in it the main one being "short term" however there is no simple answer hitting short term pollution targets is not the solution and we actually need a complete change to the system or the invention of a star trek style transporter system - assuming this does not have an environmentally harmful side affect - Basically the discussion is frustrating by virtue of the fact that actually we don't have a good answer to it. Or did I miss the whole point??? Flame proof suit on standby

It's all looking so nice, new and shiny Keep up the good work mate, coming along great
