    decat vs hfc

I'm switching back to HFC's during the rebuild just to save agro but on a back to back dyno run with HFC's v Decats steadyzeddy (previous owner) got 20HP less. But she is SC so that my make some difference!?
  3. If nothing else the artwork is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CUSTOM-ISUZU- ... 1c22d975bd Apart from the engine swap and bull bars everything was done by the current owner - a member of DJCC
  4. Like I said not as flash as you @ Buster - saving the after shots for Saturday mate ??? Edit - hang there are more pics now (or I'm losing it)
  5. No mate not as flash as you (if you've picked a colour?) besides you can hardly see them when the whole lots bolted back in. I did think of painting the rest of the engine at one pint but that can wait for next winters rebuild Hope to get the engine back in soon so I can try and sort out the mess of wiring OMG!
  6. Me O yes it was me Cheers for the help again, as always mate Get to break ... errr I mean work on your baby this weekend
  7. Hello and Welcome congrats on the new acquisition
  8. Well funnily enough the one I used after drilling the hole looke a lot like that
  9. Evening all We thought we could carry on with the engine rebuild tonight so turned it over and put the upper sump on All on with nice new gaskets went to tighten up the bolts and BANG! first one snapped before the torque wrench clicked After crying like a big girls blouse for a few minutes and trying to decide the best way forwards, take it apart or drill it out in situ? I went with Bob's advice "Go on have a go, what's the worst that can happen?" So I "Had a go" PITA so close to the engine inside a hole trying to keep the drill from hitting the side! But I think I did OK Turns out one of my torque wrenches is jammed So onto the cam covers cleaned them up Bolted them down Engine now here That's all folks ..............................
  10. to the pair of ya! I'm watching with intrest Get a Group price - If its cheap enough I'll do the same as Neil and buy them to fit later as my car is also not ready
  11. Thanks Christopher Welcome down anytime mate You can see the sunny south coast and Mellie can have a sticker for the ..... er skateboard? Glad the date was a hit
  12. Well I hope everyone had a great weekend Saturday Bob and I cleaned out the ZedShed and fitted the new carpet Did a few other bits and last thing ran some primer over a few parts including my recently modified calliper mounts. Today I started on the engine the first job I wanted to do was take a mod I did back in the summer a bit further - I did this cam cover to stop it rubbing the SC drive belt but wanted to take it a fraction further as it still occasionally rubs so I marked up a new line with a hacksaw blade then filed it down sanded it and gave it a quick clean This one looked dirty now so I cleaned that as well cleaned up the housing and put it back together Then onto this and the AC compressor and PS pump - cleaned them up degreased and reasembled the engine is now to here Lat thing tonight I ran some black paint over a few parts, only have one pic though as the battery in the camera started flashing a low warning That's all folks.........................
  13. I like nuimber 2 a lot as well as 3, but all good. very clean motor
  14. Ouch...... definate project there where you based ?
  15. Are you going to make a hole for handbrake adjustment? I did think about it - and decided no (this may come back and bight me in the arse later! I adjusted them by turning the adjuster a few clicks at a time try the disk anoter fwe clicks until the disk would not go on then dropped it back 2 clicks the handbrake is spot on now. Of course whenit then wears a ring inside the disk and the rust/corrosion builds up - will I get the disks off again without damaging the shoes? Time will tell.
  16. Thanks for the feed back. The kit was on ebay - The advert said --- ebay ad -------- K-Sport 330mm REAR Big Brake Kit Upgrade for Nissan 350Z / Z33 / Fairlady Z (JDM Import) Floating 2-Piece 330mm diameter x 32mm vented and grooved discs 6 Pot aluminium billet callipers Alloy bells, compatible with existing handbrake Probably the weakest link in the otherwise great 350Z.... brakes. Even Brembo models use woefully skinny rear discs. I bought these for my 2003 350Z, but have now sold the car so they need to go. I had the 18" RAYS alloys and there was plenty of clearance - not sure this would fit the 17" JDM wheels. The kit is complete and includes: (Ksport advert here) and ...... Listed as 'NEW - OTHER' as the kit had been fitted to my car, but removed immediately after due to an issue fitting the front kit - pads have never even brushed against discs. You can still see the factory finish on the disc surface. Some very minor tarnishing where the discs were de-greased and handled before storage. If I am being picky, there is also some minor surface rust on the bracket fitting bolts, again from handling & fitting, but nothing to affect assembly or operation. ---end ebay ad -------- So either the fitment issue was more than just the front? or they are for the import - but that should make no difference as the Brembos are a straight swap. Also possible they are for a different MY or perhaps the guy I got them from got the wrong kit????? The D2's were a simple bolt on job the Ksport should have been the same - as far as I know they come from the same factory the difference is the colour. The other interesting thing is Ksport don't seem to advertise the 6 pot rear anymore ??? http://www.ksport.co.uk/order.asp?id=209&loc=4 Of course the one other possibility is I'm a Muppet and did something wrong in the fitment but I can't see any other way of doing it and I tried them all - it is interesting that they came with 2 sets of mounts so they must be slightly universal? Anyway apart from the alignment everything else is fine the PCD and the inner hub for the handbrake all fits fine (no hole to adjust the handbrake through though) But with Woody's help and a few minutes on an end mill I now have them fitted so I shall find out how they do.
