Had a laugh today Bob was here and the first thing we did was hook up the starter motor to the engine clip on a a battery and test the oil - I've been warned that the pumps don't always pick up the oil that well after a strip and rebuild, so I bled the oil system as advised and though a test would be worth it before it was all bolted in the car with no oil pressure. A video (click to play) - modern technology aye! Then Karate Chimp (Rick) showed up WITH BISCUITS!!! and was therefore immediately invited in and plied with coffee - he also got the first official use of the ZedShed "Guest" overalls Drive covered in Zed's as usual Then we spent the afternoon doing this to Bob's car Click to play I'll let him explain the rest. Check for leaks. Test Oil cooler and new rad fans. Add Engine flush Change oil and filter Nice new Gulf Competition 15w-50 racing engine oil on order from Opie at the moment should be here Monday or Tuesday

Now you may think I'm trying to be cool and trendy (I am ) but if you look that up on urban dictionary - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... up%20homie - you will find the meaning is .... "neo medieval expression dating back to the early 1200's meaning hello night we must go to the catapults and sack those evil nuns" (although it has a few spelling mistakes) Anyway I digress few things for the blog today, went to pick up my exhaust and FMIC pipes. The pipes went in to have some "tags" welded on so I can bolt them in place and also some damage caused previously when a pipe rubbed against the front pulley strengthened. The exhaust was in to have a new flexi welded in unfortunately they had a manic week and haven't had a chance to finish it but they were working on it when I got there. Now I was so impressed with the effort going in (you can tell this is a precision engineering workshop) I snapped a pic on the phone cam He was making a jig so when he puts the new flexi in it exactly lines up again! nice work Also picked up some blanking plugs for the rearranged oil system. got that all bolted back on with some temp plugs so I don't have to attach the oil cooler to run the engine up (not just a pretty face) Tidy up on some of the wiring with a bit of heat shrink Bolted on some more bits then dropped the engine off the stand and started fitting the new flywheel Ran out of time here and tomorrow Bob has his Zed in to sort the suspension - apparently it's too low for the weight That's all folks ..........................

Still at it in the ZedShed, Lots of work but no massive leaps in progress lots of fiddly bits going on at the moment like - Take the exhaust studs out and clean the manifold face ready for the new gasket and manifold Same with the sump which is also now fitted Little mod to the sump while I was there, ground one of the fins down next to the sump plug So now a socket fits properly So the engine is looking more like a complete unit each day And my first "look at the bits I saved" This was in the box marked sump No idea yet - I'm sure it will go somewhere soon - fingers crossed That's all folks ....................
