Amazingly NO - the bores are in very good condition. I am having that block to rebuild my SC engine with and my old engine (from before I went forged) is going into this build.

New block sourced Had it checked by an engineering company - bores are good and round, that's in for a hone tomorrow Cosworth 11:1 pistons on the way this will be an engine build thread coming soon That's all folks ...........................

Well I took the investigation of the old engine a step further today as I had an afternoon off. Heads off Sump off Crank shaft coming out Pistons out What's left The piston from the cylinder with low compression A closer look Now that's is bad in itself and obviously the reason for the low compression and smoking but I thought I would check the other pistons while I was at it OMG So that's what happens to a Zed engine when you stick a Haltech on it !!!! I would assume it also had a not so safe power tune and I would guess it was being run on standard fuel?!? Result = 5 pistons errrr damaged???? Anyway I had this under a tarp in the garden so that will now be going back into the Zed. Autobots!! Let's roll.....................

From last post - ---------------------------- I did a compression test and 5 cylinders ran 160 - 175 1 cylinder did 115 that will be the place to start the investigation ---------------------------- She was smoking badly as well and not running well on all 6 so probably a head gasket.

Another fun day in the ZedShed assisted by my wife today (you can tell it's her car!!!!) Beb dropped in again as well Stripped the front timing/cam chains down the paper clip trick to stop the tensioner moving Slowly came apart Then we decided it was too hard to work on the engine in situ so ............... That's better - big pile of bits in the garden Had to grind all the zorst bolts of they were rusted solid!!! The we stripped the heads down No signs of bore damage No real signs of head gasket problems either I may investigate further and check the stem seals etc but I'll probably just use the block to repair my blown engine and drop my old engine that has only done 40,000 into this Zed. Autobots!! Let's roll.....................

Hello and welcome along to the start of works. The current plan is to get the engine back running on all 6 cylinders (before JapFest so I have a backup Zed) Then give the car to the wife as is for a month, if she likes it I will sort the rest of the problems to her liking if she doesn't like the car (some hope)I will either do it up to sell, keep it as spares or sell it as is - haven't decided yet. So far the Haltech ECU has gone to a more deserving Zed and I have swapped the LMGT's for the BK's as the wife prefers them (fine with me ) So I rolled her into the ZedShed at 7am - you can still see the smoke clearing Bonnet up Strip the covers etc I did a compression test and 5 cylinders ran 160 - 175 1 cylinder did 115 that will be the place to start the investigation Bob had visitors from overseas round today, but Beb showed up for a visit and soon got stuck in, He also raised the bar for all ZedShed visitors!! I mean chocolate hobnobs were the norm for visitors to guarantee a warm welcome and a hot coffee, Bed arrived with fresh bread and a pack of bacon - Now that's the way to do it!!! Cheers for lunch and the help Beb, had a good afternoon and we did it despite the bloody manual Got the front end stripped down today will pull the heads tommorrow and see how much damage we are looking at. Autobots!! Let's roll.....................

07:30 and the plugs are out of the "other" Zed I've just come in for Coffee, then it's a compression test so HURRY UP Also sourced a new set of Pistons well I did find out I had a problem 12 hours ago!!! and you can't hang about

Thanks for the support guys @ Mark, Thanks for the concern - had a bore scope done today only one piston is showing signs of damage, but I will get the full report on Monday. The compression test showed only that piston down as well. May be just one piston and liner - may need a new block not sure just yet. Will keep you all updated as and when things happen.

Sit down this is gonna hurt!!!!! The really bad news - The Bitch may not make Japfest The Bad news - I have damage to 1 bore and compression is down 20 - 30 psi on that piston. The not so bad news - she pulled 400WHP on 5.5 pistons what's she gonna do on 6 Don't worry project Zebra starts tomorrow for 2 reasons 1. I need a Zed for Japfest. 2. I may need an engine block. So that will give you something to read while we decide on the best course of action for this project. O and as your probably all wondering what/why/how - the chances are that some residue shot blasting debris got in the piston at some point somehow sh*t happens - nothing to be done except solve the problem She will rise again!

It's Kawasaki green !!! Thanks for the support - Just spoke to Carl (who buillt the engine) may not be a major job to sort the smoking (fingers crossed) - will update after I speak to Dan tomorrow. Is that the vid that AME have posted today on FB then Chris? Has she got lime green bits ?

I have had a few bikes - I promised the wife I wouldn't get another one. "It's not you" she would say "its all the other nutters on the road!" I blame the helmets they restrict the blood flow to your brain and then things get silly real quick!!!! My advice is do the CBT see if you like it then buy something a little tamer than an R6, Fireblade etc try a 250cc see how quickly you become aware of how much danger you are in then after a while maybe move up to a pocket rocket. It doesn't matter if they pull out in front of you Car v Bike = Rider will NOT win that argument!!! -

I was going to post you could do it with a DPDT switch and a resistor just s leonk says above. However as GT4 Zed points out you may has a weight sensor as well - I don't see this actually being a problem if the original seats are staying as the resistor will fool the ECU or the airbag controler don't think the two are linked? The weight sensor will do its thing irrelevant. I'll do you a wiring diagram if you want to give it a go

Got a phone call tonight ................... The good news - she's running smooth on all 6 cylinders The bad news - Dan thinks the SC has an airleak He is going to run a smoke test on her tomorrow and see what he can find. Will keep you all informed.
