  3. Well what a bad day Dropped the engine in with Dan today unfortunately my free replacement block is no good - It has bad degradation around the top of the bores - Dan said it had been driven to death and then they kept going Mind you it did have 5 smashed pistons in it - what really annoying is the bores themselves were fine, it's the main face that's had it (the bit the head gasket sits on). So now I need to source a new block - which hopefully I have done a nice little 9,000 mile number that was removed from a working engine If not Bob will have a shock next time he tries to start his If this one doesn't come off I'll be on the lookout elsewhere............. Ho hum the trials and tribulations of building a custom engine. On the plus side at least I have another Zed to cruise around in until I eventually get mine back on the road! Decided that I will start on the bodywork while I wait for the engine to get sorted, at least it will stop me getting bored and give you lot something to read. That's all folks..................................
  4. WOW absolutely awesome Serious amount of work, effort and dedication in that - stunning mate!
  5. I want one of them Got a VAT free day with them coming up as well I still need to drive mine onto blocks though its to low for anything else.
  6. Yer and then you burn oil on the first dyno run and the engine comes out again and you rebuild it and so on and so on, But dam 500+ ponys at the rear wheels thats gotta be a goal to chase
  7. I knocked on the neighbours door and asked if it was anything to do with them, It was the nurse visiting my neighbours elderly father, she (the nurse) couldn't apologise enough It was her first time here she thought she was visiting my house ( I only look like I need care 'cause Bob is my mate!) anyway she ran out and moved it straight away - no real problem. It's very annoying though it's not that I wanted to go out at that exact moment it's the fact that I couldn't if I did. If you know what I mean!? All sorted and no blood was spilled
  8. Lovely weather - for ducks!! Well it is here anyway! It was indoor work today after a lovely day outside yesterday. So as usual Bob was round Saturday afternoon and started with a quick wash (as he smells) Then Bob instigated a rear spoiler discussion with Mrs Keyser ... The rear spoiler Mrs. Keyser has complained that A. She can't see out of the rear window B. She doesn't like the current rear spoiler C. The rear spoiler is not fitted centrally! She spotted this by eye - when measured it is in fact 5mm of centre!! So Bob pointed out that it would probably be better to have no spoiler, next thing you know we then discovered that this car has had at least 3 spoilers and we guess a wing on the back at some point it is dented in several places and had a lot of holes in various places - some filled in some not. More on the spoiler later - Just for glrnet Thanks mate Next we rolled the Zed into the ZedShed ready for a gearbox oil change - now if anyone has done this especially off axel stands it is not easy getting the oil from the bottle into the gearbox! Bob and I discussed possible solutions to this last week and this is our solution .... Drill 2 holes in the lid push the 2 bits of pipe through and pour some fibre glass resin in, allow to set Add some filler to the top for strength and to help keep it air tight Take some gearbox oil and moly from the man who always has it in stock and good to go same/next day (Thanks Alex) and you get stick the long pipe into the gearbox filler and the air compressor hose (via an on/off vale) into the short pipe and there you have it 3 litres of oil and a tube of moly into the gearbox in less than 10 minutes with no swearing ---------------------------------- Sunday and time to do something about the spoiler removal!!! Please note this is a temporary "fix" so the car still looks OK and I can take it to Japfest after that it will most probably get a full re-spray and may even change colour! So first off I put some fiber glass over the holes from the inside then sanded down the glue/filler and dents from the numerous installs Some filler some sanding some more sanding A spot of primer a light sand and some stopper Sanding Blend out the primer line from this to this cleaned and dried ready for paint Now as I said this is a temporary fix, I had no Kuro paint so this was done with a £5 tin of spray from Halfrauds!! Don't worry about the over spray I'll MOP that out after it dries tomorrow had to blend it at some point So almost finished (just polish to go) it looks like - Not bad for £5!!! Autobots!! Let's roll.....................
  9. Brilliant G - Gotta be the best so far but I did have a good laugh at some of the suggestions Sorry Bob
  10. Only about a dozen time Me and Bob (Buster) have it down to 6 hours now! The block does not get ported it gets re-bored The heads can get ported and polished Don't worry about a low mileage unit if you're having it ported and polished as you would expect to get the valves done and lapped in at the same time. So get a hammered one and get it to a competent machine shop - Sorted PS I have 2x cylinder heads and a block (needs a re-bore) sitting in the Zed shed PM me if you want more info.
  11. That just mean - But if it was him

  16. How about this ???? viewtopic.php?f=29&t=59978&hilit=nisomo I'd take £20 for it everyone else is scared of the BHP increase!
  17. +1 On that Mark Yer take the motor out the heads are a pain to get clear otherwise timing chain covers have to come off so its easier to take the engine out!
