My Wife's JDM does that even if you open the doors!!!! would have locked the keys in had the window not been open!!! But her aftermarket alarm has a mind of its own it started flashing the hazard lights for no reason a few days ago

Weird Why was no belt on was it like that from when you got the car? If so smells like the previous owner may have had a problem. Unfortunately our cars are very clever and have lots of sensors that sense what other sensors are sensing and try to make sense of it Now the aircon does/must (from what I have read) have some input into the rad fan control as it is used as a second fan test - Fan 1 running turn on air con and Fan 2 should start - me and Andlid were using this to test our aftermarket fans were wired correctly. So no belt - turn on air con fan starts My Guess is control gets an incorrect reading so fires up the fan to cool the rad????? Maybe!? Belt on readings correct so fan does not turn on. Aircon not firing up - Hmmmm - as in the interior fans don't start? Test - remove the gear stick surround unplug the ribbon cable from the white box behind the AC controls, turn ignition on wait 10 seconds all fans inside should turn onto full speed. Or Does not fire up - no cold air? No Gas??? - get gas checked first, the re-gas system should do a basic check for leaks - if it's still not cold then compressor not compressing?? No idea how you can test that, chaeck the clutch hasn't stuck first maybe? Why was the belt off??

Do they look like this?? If so I did these on the wife's Zed with a machine polisher - medium then fine compounds and they came up like -

Its aircon day today Trick question that. If the car is hot enough and fan 1 is running fan 2 will start when the aircon is turned on - if its not hot enough no - Fan 1 will turn on based on engine coolant temp not aircon use. Or I read that bit wrong - which is possible what's not happening? If its not cold enough a re-gas is probably the first step.

Thats the one I was on about on top of the cylinder - the fly lead comes through the front panel and onto a clip that holds it to the front panel where it joins the wiring loom. Thats the bit you may get to below where the slam panel would be The horns are up there as well - just to make it a bit harder to get to

On the driver's side behind the bumper on the end of the air con rad there is a connector (top of the cylinder at end of rad). Not sure you would get to it without the bumper off - never tried you may be able to get there if you have no slam panel. On the compressor there is a single wire if IRC surely if this needs a 12v feed to prove the problem just run a wire from there to the live side of the battery? Can't be much more help as I haven't played around much with the aircon. Good luck

Now that's a good question.

It was a first for me another Vortech SC Zed at the Shed After a couple of weeks of PM's Darren ventured down south to prove once and for all if you can change the clutch on a Zed while on axel stands in one day and drive a couple of hundred miles home after................. Lucky the answer was Yes really Mini out Zed in and another visitor pictured at this well??? known landmark I like this bit Darren was soon removing his interior exterior and lots of bits from underneath The aforementioned top plate being re-sealed Another coffee break - I like coffee Out with the old here they are old and new All in all not a bad days work Thanks for the kind words Darren pleasure to work alongside you on your pride and joy, had a good laugh and it all went back together OK. Next time we will use the trolley jack to lift the gearbox back in O and I'm still washing the oil out of my hair - we should have drained it first! Your Zed is a great example of a sleeper and I'm impressed with how smooth your V3 runs, I'm just glad it's only black - If it was green and black it would be as nice as mine Saying of the day - Keyser - "It's in the Red box 4th draw down in the blue tool box" Darren-B "No it's green" Keyser "What the tool box?" Darren-B "All of it" Keyser "Pass the yellow grips then" Darren-B "No" Keyser "NO?!" Darren-B "No - They are green as well" Keyser

I'm not on Google ???? Come on Mods why not Check my location Jon The Zedshed is my garage and it's in Ferndown near Bournemouth, I mean it's my garage where my Zed lives (currently my daughters mini) not a commercial garage but we like visitors here and we have Buster gut Bob on hand most of the time to blame for any and all problems. If you need a hand with something drop me a PM mate You need very strong thumbs to push that clip in its a fine line between click and crack so be careful

Hello everyone I said I had another project waiting in the wings and as the SC 350 is built (not finished but built!) I know a few of you like reading about my shenanigans in the ZedShed (or looking at the pictures anyway ) I also know this is NOT a Z but it's for my daughter as her first car and she can't get insurance on a Zed So welcome to Keyser's Mini Adventure - The story so far - A few weeks before my daughters 16th birthday (it's going to take a while to get this one on the road) the wife and I accompanied by my trusty mate "Bob the bolt Buster" we collected this 1986 Mini Mayfair. It has in a barn for 6 years She was quite overwhelemed when she got it on her birthday It's been sitting on the drive since then - until Friday night Then we rolled her in We have begun the strip down on Saturday but I only have 1 pic of the that as the camera batteries went flat The ZedShed had another guest on Sunday so we haven't done much more. We will be on it again tomorrow night so I'll get some pics sorted for you and an update on of how it's going. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode .................................

A wild guess bassed on the info given, If its on the back of the head and is a DE I'll guess it's the cam sensor plugs - one is at a 45 degree angle the other comes straight out. Most of the plugs have the "push to release" part in the middle on one side or the other. you push it in so you are squeezing the plug. These have a flat plastic bit on one side you push it in so towards the engine/plug when it clicks the plug will slide off easily. Pic would help
