  1. Things are developing here - I should have mentioned before but being more concerned with the ECU not picking up and controlling the valve timing I forgot. Jez did the uprev and set the idle rpm to 1100 Dan re-mapped the lower speeds on the Haltech and apart from being a bit lumpy when cold she actually ticks over OK now, although we do have a very random and so far untraceable problem when you come to a stop after a drive, foot of the throttle pedal she drops to 1100rpm rev's herself to 1800 then drops back and sits happily at 1100rpm. No idea why yet - I don't mind but every time you pull up at the traffic lights it does seem like you're a boy racer revving away Been on the email to Haltech AU and Hal @ Dynasty - had a few suggestions so far but nothing that has completely solved the valve timing issue - good news is I think we have a work around so I can keep driving her Watch this space
  2. Had new plugs last time it was with AME - think they were just 1 step colder as the NOS wasn't being done then.
  3. Good luck with the hunt Keep an eye on the Zeds for sale thread viewforum.php?f=56
  4. Thats cool in the last pic the car changes to blue - must be the light?
  5. well that sucks Unlucky mate - with your skills you'll have it sorted soon I'm sure. How does the mesh look
  6. +1 use these on my RE30's look as well

But what are they on the side? If they are lazer's and work I won't some
  8. Jez had nothing to compare to and the top end figures are very simlar. He was also working on the tick over and the fault codes for me more than anything else - we also don't know when this problem started - It wasn't there the last time I was at AME so it may not have been there when I was at Horsham?
  9. That the VVT issue - basically on that run you see the torque is lower in the mid range then picks back up - as she goes through about 4,500 the timmining is close to stock so the torque and power comes back on. On the next run we did the VVT worked fine so both the power and torque lines were much close. The extra power comes from the smaller pulley but with the timming not reliable we can't map in the NOS or finish the map - I have an option on a new Haltech (direct replacement) but if I'm going to need a new ECU I may as well go standalone - The new Haltech for the 350 is a standalone and there are a couple of others to choose from.
  10. Green was the power run from the first mapping after the dyno run in. Blue was the last run we did.
  11. Why were you looking in the first place? Man up use a cut throat razor - be a real man (until you slip)
  12. Looks like you need to drop in and have a go mate - I'll do the pics for you
  13. I went to school with the guy that sings on those adverts
  14. Went to .......... Today Didn't quite work out The idea was to get the NOS mapped in but it wasn't to be Hooked up to the dyno Had a power run or 2 - she made 477HP on the Dyno at Horsham with Jez last week which translated nicely to a 430 WHP run on AME's hub dyno Unfortunately we have 2 issues still to overcome the first is the uneven idle - much improved after the UPREV but not quite there yet. The other came up today and may be related to the idle may even be the cause? The VVT is not picking up / transmitting the signal cleanly in the Haltech - can't take the chance on mapping in the NOS and then having a problem that could potentially damage the engine so we have left the NOS for now and are chasing up Haltech for a resolution - or some input from there end - I'm also looking at alternatives But just so it wasn't a waste of time Dan cheered me up by achieving my goal When I started I said I was aiming for 450 WHP without the NOS well ......................... We made it and I may still have a look at adding some meth into the mix So happy and not so happy but it's all part of the fun of tuning and I had a great drive up and back today That's all folks ............................
  15. Put a couple of hours into the roll cage tonight - still lots to do but what better way to learn than to do it So I set my daughter up on the welder and away she went Not bad for her second ever attempt bit of cleaning up with the grinder starting to get there bit more effort and it's nearly ready for primer Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ....................
  16. Local garage? Get down here we can get them done and you get a free holiday and to try some RE 30's at the same time
  17. Good evening, Back at the Mini again today started by stripping the new shell I also want to improve a few of the welds done when the previous owner plated and strengthened the car The next problem is that the roll cage is fitted errr ........ let's just say not to my satisfaction, he has added so much plating that it hits the roof so much so that it has dented it (hard to see but its dented!) so stripped the engine bay then the car, including the roll cage had a word with the insurance company and its only a few quid more so it stays So with that in mind I cut it up then we started putting the cage back in and tack welding it in place then Buster showed up to help Kat (my daughters nickname) with the Mini But you know Buster he was soon lining up for a centre driving position then he just got silly anyway when he had that out of his system we got the centre loop in the right place tack welded the other bars back in and last thing pulled it all out ready to weld it properly Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ..........................
