Meh what's to be jealous off?? You Have a dream I have The Bitch But in the interest of the forum and anybody reading this thread for information purposes, I will agree you are correct there won't be a lot in it I average out at 17 - 18 mpg on the road and on track I get down as low as 6MPG As for reliability - I don't think its fair to say that an LSx will be any more reliable than a built VQ and anyone listens or notices strange noises in their car, the difference is an SC owner knows how much it will cost to rebuild his/her engine if it's a bad noise. Now go and pour £10k plus into your engine bay then hand on heart tell me you won't have exactly the same feeling when that gurgling V8 makes a strange noise You know I looked at the LS 1.2.3 options and decided the investment was not worth it as I could and did get the same if not more out of the VQ, it is worth remembering the supporting mods would be needed whatever lump you put in. IMO An LSA on the other hand is a lump I would be happy to have in a Zed but when I was looking 2 years ago at which way to go it was not cost effective. with some of the kits that are now available for the conversion I would say it is certainly worth considering if 500HP and lots of fun is what your after

Nitrous Oxide - trust me it's great

I don't! Just 100% pure fun! (OK, OK, with a bit of flames at the rear end ) Come on, somebody get cracking on it! I agree with Octet but there is one sound I like to listen too as I blast past with my 500WHP and thats the sound of American Muscle car V8 owners sobbing as they realise that the £100 of fuel they put in will only just get them to the next petrol station. (If they drive really carefully) SC and NOS FTW

along Good luck on the hunt

Thats close to what I was trying to say - just a bit more gently

That's a hard one, if you buy a mod like a TT system and its still in good working order it usually goes for 50 to 75% of the cost price, but no one will pay the labour charges back Given that a TT 350z would probably go for around £15K if you find the right buyer, I don't think you will get as much back as you hoped for just an engine and kit. Of course if you find someone that wants a TT setup and has just worked out they need to buy £10K in parts and yours is in good condition then you could well get £7 or £8k back That's just an example I don't know what you actually paid for your kit O but if you were thinking £2k for the lot can I have first dibs

Be intrested to see if you got good gains on an SC'd Zed, in which case I may be intrested - the kinetix V1 was known for blowing the welds (here come the F and F quotes) on high boost FI Zeds.

After a hard day working on the Zed, how do you relax?

I'm sorry to say that is no longer a restoration it is now a "heavily modified" toolbox ! Which leads me onto 2 questions. 1. Have you informed you insurance company? 2. How long does it take to modify a tool box? Looking great mate you can come and do this old red one someone left here if you like -
No stubby on a modified Zed Nice work on the window - we would have believed you, but the video was nice
-
A real restoration taking place here, looking good so far mate, different approach to me as I'm restoring but modifying. Luckily I don't have to worry about it being true to the original. Like the new toy I haven't got one of those to play with, not sure I can justify one but given the job your on it should get some heavy use. On a side note if you keep the updates coming I may stop giving you a hard time

Evening all hope you had a great weekend Full day on the Mini today and an evening watching the F1 (recorded on Sky) not a bad day really but we are knackered now! More dirty work needed on the interior so I sent the better half in again I started sorting all the bits that are needed to complete the engine so they can be cleaned, polished, painted or powder coated As you can see they need some attention! Got the inside cleaned Spent ages getting the sand out of the rails - still some to do but getting there. No chance of paint today though as the sandblaster revealed some nastiness hidden under the paint in the boot both sides So a little bit of welding and hopefully she will be in primer by the weekend. How did you get on today Leon? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ..........................

I thought a 2003 would have a CD006? I also believe (quite possibly wrongly ) that the synchronizers in the CD009 are a "harder" metal - it is usually the synchro that goes not the whole gear, so maybe a selector fork or pin has gone Hope you get it sorted anyway

She must mean Buster ???? to the OP

Back to the saga of the engine then so lets see what needs doing? Complete unit stripped and clean New gaskets and seals top and bottom (leaks at the mo) New oil filter Cylinder head decarbonised Valves re-seated and lapped in Bores honed New piston rings New complete clutch Gear Box strip check and repair as required New spark plugs New Lead New Dizzy Cap, condenser points etc. Full rebuilt with necessary parts, new paint and then all timed up and ready to go! The target date for on the road by end of July! So I thought I'd best get cracking on the engine as the bodywork still needs doing You know what they say - what a difference a day makes - so as Mrs Keyser and Junior Keyser took a day of to catch the matinee performance of "Hairspray" at the theatre, I assisted and accompanied by Baby Keyser got stuck into the engine started here at 08:30AM By 4:30pm we got to here ....................... 90% of the way through the list above not bad just some paint to do (not happy with the colour on a few bits) and we can bolt it in I know, I know, its impressive but when the going gets tough the tough find another way - or as my dad always used to say "If at first you don't succeed cheat" So how did we achieve this amazing progress in just a few hours? Well as the Zed Shed rather like the TARDIS is fitted with a time drive we simply popped back a few weeks and ......................... What you not buying that????? You want the truth? You can't handle the truth! OK OK Popped over to see Bob this morning, No not Buster another Bob he hangs out in a little Indy garage in a place called Coleford just over the Seven Bridge, When I got there he was just finishing up work on his GT4 Turbo charged celiac engine in his grass track racer ready for tomorrows fun O I forgot to mention he's now 70 He has forgotten more about Mini engines than I will probably ever know and hopefully he has sorted me out a good one and saved me a few weeks work Had to do something to speed things up and with the amount of work needed on the engine this seemed like the best solution and means we can get on with the bodywork, hope to get the inside all clean tomorrow and maybe even get some primer on. @ LeonK I know what you're saying about the coating and it's a great thing my solution as a DIY home mech is get the rust off and primer it quick does mean I will do the same bit more than once but it works for me Got any pics of the Jag parts yet? So folks Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ............................

Which part of "please stop putting temptation in my path" did you not get I hope she will be switching to a v6 Nissan when she gets to 25 mate Maybe a nice little 350z In Green - I should be ready to do a new one then
-
That's much more sensible mate, you know where I can pick one up with all the trimmings for < £500? O and I need and insurance company that does modified car insurance for learners Honestly I would love to do something like that but please stop putting temptation in my path - this is her first car it's already modified and getting a roll cage insurance is going to be as it is!

It's looking good now Nice rescue on that - so have you bought enough tools while repairing the tool box to fill it?
