Its a clip on connector - press the clip in and pull the plugs apart - if you want to. Have you checked cables on both sides? Passenger side is usual culprit. If the light is coming back on it means the fault is still there.

O have a Hilux- recently hit by a bus They have given me a 12 plate Warrior while mine is repaired I only tell you this as I would like to give you this little bit of advice DO NOT BUY A MITSUBISHI WARRIOR!!!!!!!!! On my Astra VAN I have their (vauxhalls) own lease purchase package as the interest was so low and I got an extra discount when I bought the van. On my Hilux (I bought the ex demonstrator) they offered me a package but the interest rate was stupid, would have been better off using a credit card, so I just got a bank loan paid it off now and hope to get at least another 2 years out of the truck.

+1 On gareth29 above - Crank position sensor and 1 cam sensor do the ignition timing so could be worth checking - as well as the earth that Darren B mentioned - I was throwing a sensor fail, had fuel and spark but would not spark - Jez at horsham tracked it down to a poor earth - it was earthed just not well enough! Good luck.
