The over lap is making them £££££'s they won't change it. If the car had been sold in the middle of the month (November) you would have got December back - they would not refund the last 2 weeks BUT the new owner would also have had to TAX for a full month so they would have been paid for 2 weeks in November by you plus 4 weeks in November by the new owner (Chris) so they make 6 weeks Tax from the same car, you sold it in November but didn't get December back, if Chris taxed it to drive home on the 30th Nov then the Tax presumably started 1st Nov (to make him legal on the way home) so they got November and December from him and November and December from you, that's doubled what the car actually owed them. Sucks don't it, On a side note for car Tax - I was talking to a car dealer and he pointed out that he was bored so did the maths on paying car tax and if you pay by DD with a 10% (or whatever it is) surcharge the APR is something like 40% which is quite high to say the least Don't ask me the finer points he did explain it but I can't remember the exact details.

Yup so you buy it and as Dan said above you must tax it as it does not transfer - to tax it you pay from the beginning of the month but they refund the previous owner after the end of the month so they get paid twice - well played by them However as to getting stopped you won't set any of the ANPR systems off on the way home as they won't have been informed of any changes until the docs go in - routine check or doing something to deserve a tug could mean they look more closely - Grundy got pulled as his was registered as SORN, we did the engine and went for MOT he did the right thing and sorted the TAX while here but got pulled on the way home as the ANPR takes time to update so they wanted to know why he was driving with no Tax or MOT which he wasn't

I'd be tempted to change the VVT's out to be honest seen them cause a couple of problems before. Of course you will also want to fix the oil leak

It wasn't that cheap

Only thing I can suggest is you get a mate to push down on the boot - then pull the cable release then with it still pulled get ya mate to try lifting it. Might help take the pressure off the catch
