  1. Ironically you are giving out an opinion on how to bring up kids that will rub other people up the wrong way too in the same way they rub you up the wrong way. My life long friend who I met in nursery when we were both 3 years old had a child at 20 and she has been the most amazing parent (doing it alone) and is one of the most resilient people you will ever meet for example - she now has two nice cars (including a cool hot rod) and her daughter is off to uni and she recently married a great guy. I don't think there is any right or wrong way to be a parent. The most important learning I have from being a parent is not to criticise another persons approach to bringing a child into this world - some people change their priorities some don't but thats life. The other learnings I have personally are that money is not a guarantee of a childs happiness and that time is more important. My son would rather spend time with me kicking a ball around over the park or putting together his space project than sitting on his own without me around playing the latest computer games on some snazzy expensive games system. Anyway. The video. It is kind of good'ish. The internet has bred a new generation of keyboard warriors, you certainly wouldn't have anywhere near the sort of aggression if everyone were stood in the same room together. The anonymity of the internet makes for some very angry people hiding behind a perceived safety net. Also you get a lot more one-up-manship on forums like PH or the hateful Barrys forums vs somewhere like here where people are a bit more grown up. Is there a mass of hatred out there? I don't think so. People post up pics of their cars, that will encourage feedback, if people don't want it don't post up the car.
  2. Power companies in turning off renewable energy production during oversupply but still burning fossil fuel shocker? But agreed hardly any confidence in the fish but even less so in trash like the Express who would have you believe the Tories are doing a great job with many things right now. There is a huge economy of energy pricing that happens pretty much daily, its not a case of Homer Simpson sitting in a room and seeing a dial that says 105% so presses a button that turns off the turbines - pinch, salt, taken.
  3. Massively right wing newspaper in anti SNP article about nothing with debatable facts 'shocker' ?
  4. We have to move to renewable energy because a. our growing world population demands more energy and burning stuff generates too much pollution and b. fossil fuels will simply run out so, it makes complete sense. To call electric cars right now 'clean' is a marketing language joke pushed out there by the government though - it's like saying the AC in my car is 'clean' technology because it runs off electricity. There are conflicting reports about the pollution generated making batteries and disposing of them. EVs are not clean by any stretch but they are clearly not as 'dirty' as ICE driven cars. We have global pollution targets to meet we aren't meeting them so the government needs to push a message/tax ICE cars so that they dissuade people from using the more polluting option. The way EVs are built interior wise and outside/the styling, the lack of noise/lack of ability to tinker with for me at the moment adds up to just about one of the most unappealing cars out there - I can see how they appeal to others though. Owners however cannot honestly say they are not producing pollution as ownership of one dictates it does, just not as much as an ICE car. Its cleaner, but not completely clean
  5. Although appreciate that a Nissan stamped book will suck in the average uninformed buyer, a much better selling tactic should you ever sell the car is to start a build thread here and record with pictures everything you do. It would certainly be more of a factor for someone viewing the car than a book of stamps.
  6. £4k for half decent S14, £2k for Gramms Boss kit, £500 fitting, £2.5k respray, £1.5k on cool wheels...hmmm tempting! Just love the american muscle look on this kit.
  7. I imagine the beating the HR comment was a bit tongue in cheek. It makes little sense to buy a DE and spend thousands getting it to the level of an HR when you could just buy an HR, but hey its the modding bug and I guess there is no sense in any of it I wouldn't cite VED as a reason to buy the DE either, an HR with a new set of tyres on it vs a DE with tyres than need changing will cost you the same over the first couple of years - £200 is nothing for these cars considering all the perishables that you might have to replace (a plenum spacer for example will cost you the best part of £200 and is the cheapest part of modding a DE power up). Only advice I can give is think hard, don't launch into a purchase you spent 10 minutes going over in the dark (I spent 6 weeks looking at cars and bought one 200 miles away from me and took a mate as a second set of eyes), don't be afraid to check the car out via members on here for any previous history before parting with your hard earned.
  8. Good point but it does raise the conflicting argument (which has no answer really). Although we see the above as simply archaic and absurd (which I personally agree it is!) other countries would see it as quite normal and very accepted to persecute homosexuality. Boot on the other foot, if we had the tech to reasonably accurately predict if someone of middle eastern origin might commit Jihad against the UK would we use that tech? As it does identify potential criminals, in the same way other countries could use it to identify potential criminals of their laws no matter how bizarre they are they would argue this. I'm not saying you are wrong Doc, hell you only had to watch the Rees-Mogg interview recently to realise how messed up religious beliefs are when they mix with politics.
  9. Damned if you do damned if you don't it seems. Sure this could be used in an ill founded way, but also its just a case of the human race working things out. Instead of ill founded supposition around 'why is someone gay' why not actually try bring out some evidence. For example the defence and intelligence agencies in the UK are always under huge pressure to prevent attacks, when they happen you get the same uproar that they should be doing more, but to do that you have to bring scale to the solution - the second that it involves them potentially looking at you there is uproar against personal privacy - the public are asking for a solution which cannot be done in the absence of magic and sorcery.
  10. I would disagree on your thoughts on modded price, most are well under priced vs the total cost of build. People spend thousands then list at maybe 10% over stock price. I have to say I had the same mentality as you of wanting to mod it myself but really the process of adding a plenum, exhaust, sports cats, remap etc. wasn't actually that much fun but was massively expensive. The fun bits for me were new wheels, painting parts, polishing stuff etc. The absence of LSD on JDM cars is down to the spec. If you buy a brembo brake UK car they will have LSD. A quick google turned up comments about the base JDM spec doesn't, the rest do.
  11. Some useful comments on a forum thread about LSDs here Both cars listed look reasonable enough. What are your plans for the car? Keep it stock or modify? There are a fair few out there with work done - if you are looking for increase BHP/handling etc. its an expensive journey (plenum, exhaust, cats, uprev/ecutek is going to cost £2k and upwards for around +20bhp give or take) you would save money buying a car with the work done on it.
  12. Sounds like some kids story to me... ...maybe spellcheck gone mad with the word Fairlady?
  13. ..which was then left by the river bank when the floods came?
  14. A legend leaves the building I think its fair to say a lot of the work admin do behind the scenes is exactly that, all done behind the scenes with little recognition but Al has always gone above and beyond, getting him to accept a compliment for his efforts is hard work! Enjoy spending more time with the kids and the boat matey!
  15. Presume you got the car uber cheap? Boss kit and respray is going to be £5k give or take?
  16. Great build this is also something I would love to do at some point. Boss kit looks great would be tempted on wedging an RB26 in the front there with it
  17. OK thanks CS - can you let me know when you make the leap so I can update my records
  18. Go easy on clicking that Submit button!
  19. Excellent, despite a shocking episode 7
  20. Not a bad price. I would have a think about what mods you are looking to do and see if anything is for sale that has some of those mods done, especially if its on here as there will be build threads in all likelihood. It saves a fair wedge of cash to have things done in advance and the 350z has been around long enough for a lot of these cars to have various work done to them.
