Safety? 70% of land on the planet is north of the equator, in the event of an issue its better to have a chance to land somewhere? And demand, if more destinations (and more populated ones) are north of the equator, then would stand to reason you stay north of the equator?

You are right we haven't observed the inside of the earth so have to rely on known laws of physics, experimentation and the like to find a most likely answer. But then flat earthers have not observed a flat earth at all to start with, they haven't provided any evidence that an ice shelf exists around the earth, they haven't tried to prove any of the evidence they present that shows how gravity works via a mystery force from an unknown source - If you are put off by guesswork I struggle with how you can believe moreso not even educated guesswork but complete fantasy that people on the internet have made up. The NASA stuff is always taken out of context. Literally all their imagery is composite they have openly said that, that means they don't get a camera in your traditional sense like joe public would snap something and take a photo (when capturing the detail you need for the shots they need that doesn't make any sense anyway). Its a process of taking detailed smaller snapshots and creating the final image. So its very easy for ISS to take the photo, they just take a number of photos as they orbit the earth. Its all very explanable if you read the full context of NASA related stuff they release instead of the out of context snippets flat earthers quote on websites and videos. Context is everything, a video here and a photo there with a conclusion is just not sufficient - without any controls or context around it, it is kind of worthless as evidence.

It is pretty loud I can assure you...when we drove up to Cov last year I mentioned how loud it was to Buster I think it was and he was skeptical probably took what I claimed with a pinch of salt. He followed me to the venue and later said 'god your exhaust is effin loud!' Nur Spec has a much better tone to it as well as being a little bit quieter for my tender old ears

Yep all good mate. I had a little wobble a month or so ago when the temp gauge flew up and there was coolant in the undertray. Of course the FB community (there is no GT4 forum to speak of) went through all the possible issues from water pump (which was replaced before I bought it) to various other doomsday scenarios. Got the undertrays off, and noticed some red dry residue on a rad pipe (which is an aftermarket silicon hose). Checked the clamp and it literally was spinning on the pipe! It was only staying on by virtue of the slightly tight fit - no idea how it came loose. 30 seconds later and some tightening of the clamp ran the car for 30 mins not a single bit of coolant - has run perfect since. I am off on a Euro road trip later in the year so going to do all the belts (they were done about 18k miles ago by previous owner) again anyway no harm in having a load of new stuff on the car. Also looking for a used Blitz Nur Spec exhaust (not really up for paying nigh on £800 for a new one!) as the current one is pretty loud and not sure I could handle 2000 miles of that!

Not specifically a sealant but used this for 3 years now on the Celica and the car still retains its deep red colour. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/victoria-wax/victoria-wax-3oz-concours-wax/prod_312.html I am sure others might have gone the extra mile and put sealant on too and will comment shortly!

But not as purposeful as my ST205

New MoT certificate sitting proudly in the documents wallet

Ironically people that live in built up cities where pollution is an issue where EV cars would help very rarely have access to charge from home.
-
Agreed the E46 just sits so well on decent wheels and just looks so purposeful.

Nice one Bri, always good to try different cars and different eras - as a car nut why not!

Tax is all swings and roundabouts - the government doesn't have enough money to run the country right now let alone see tax revenues drop on the motoring masses. Remember when you had to pay to draw money out of cash machines? A big push to get banks to remove that cost? Which actually then happened, and within months oh look so many bank accounts suddenly had a monthly charge against them. EV's aren't being taxed right now as the government wants people driving them - once it has everyone in one, taxes will follow as much as day follow night.

Clip ins are certainly not for casual road cycling - they are pretty dangerous not just releasing but also when cyclists make a balls up of taking off from lights and their foot cracks out the pedal and suddenly they are all over the place. I changed the pedals on my bike to standard ones (ok so I dont get the power benefits of clip ins) just so I can be much safer on the road!

Sounds like you are going to be using it regularly (as you said VX would only be a weekend toy) so would imagine an RX7 comes out the equation unless you are ready to spend more time than usual in maintenance (oil top ups etc) and a rebuild when required. Funny thing was literally just now I walked down to the high street and back and a black lowered RX7 came by and it looks amazing. 90s cars are now at that 20 year+ age so you have to buy VERY carefully. I have had my Celica now for over 3 years and aside from a builder dropping slates on my bonnet it has been trouble free but bear in mind I paid a little over market value as it has had so much work done to it such as clutch, pumps, all hosing replaced, belts, so on and so forth. - when you lift the bonnet it looks very modern. The interior is very plastic but you will get that with pretty much every 90's Jap car.

350GT? I would argue Evo's very much fall into the chav category too? Mazda 3 MPS for something a little more modern? I know I was joking but a GT4? Next year they become legal in the US, there are already dozens of US peeps signing up to the UK FB page waving dollars at owners and you could see a very quick spike in values.
-
Steady is on the money with the 3000GTs - my cousin did boost his up bigger turbos and the like but it was often all the small stuff that would he would be endlessly throwing money at. Its a monster of a machine now but has cost him an arm and a leg. What about a 350GT? A few bodywork changes and bigger wheels they look stunning, also you will be familiar with the engine etc. Impreza? If you can stand the chav persona that comes with it? If you fancied moving from something Jap my car after the 350z was a VX220 and it really was the best thing I ever did - going from a relatively heavy and cumbersome GT car into a proper low slung sports car, every second in it was an epic journey.
-
My cousin has a 3000GT/GTO and it has been an utter money pit - PITA to work on too. Still has it though! 300ZX? Celica GT4? R33 GTST are still cheap although come along once in a blue moon - can't be modded like a GTR but still very fast cars and RWD.

Instead of spending time doing stuff like this how about actually reading about the rules of flight - it would have been quicker and more informative https://aerosavvy.com/etops/ The 60 minute rule is the baseline, you can extend the distance based on the type of plane even if its just two engines. Actually, just read up about this stuff I don't need to explain it really its in the link and will help you understand why flight paths are not always shortest distance, or perceived straight lines etc. This also shows why anecdotal evidence is so unreliable.
-
Aircraft with two engines are complicit with law to fly within 1 hour of an airport which is why some take coastal routes rather than direct ones if bodies of water are involved.

dangerous tailgater caught on dashcam, what would you do?

I was going to say the same thing Colin for me conditions wise the 'majority' of that 3 minutes my first observations were: 1. High hedge on left hand side created regular blind bends to the Zed but probably not to the bus 2. Wet conditions, yes you might have the best tyres and big brakes and be the bestist driver in the world but people coming the other way probably do not so account for that 3. Road widths changing frequently as progress was made 4. Only a couple of spots where I thought you could have put your foot down a bit more but those passed quickly back to conditions of 1 2 and 3 On the whole I think you were driving completely within acceptable standards IMHO, is it worth going off the road for the sake of an extra few mph? Patience is not very common nowadays unfortunately on UK roads. The van driver was a complete *#$% and fair play for calling him out. -
Happy to look at these images if you post them up, I googled it when you mentioned it and watched a few videos of the Chinese probe, are we looking at something different?

I guess we are going around in circles a bit here Steady - I asked a question why would a space travelling interstellar species build something exactly the same as humans would build? Your answer was 'why not' based on the fact humans build something the same as humans on different parts of the planet/over last 80 years which is not really related to what I first asked. You are right its not something you should write off, but the jump from a grainy you tube video of a shape on the moon (shapes which regularly occur naturally on earth which is proven fact) to the likelihood that it was built by intelligent non-earth life is not a big one, its immense. Consider it, yes. Take it seriously, not really. Love the flat earth post Chris by the way Not sure if its on that website mate as I am sure it talks about various YT videos and the like but moving away from the basics of spherical distances and getting to the crux of the issue of flat earth is how gravity works. The reasoning is quite fantastic - apparently there is dark matter, from an unknown source, accelerating the earth at a constant 1g acceleration through space. Genius. Just for fun I looked at what that would mean in terms of how fast we are going now given that say the earth is 4.5billion years old, that you need to travel at 9.8 metres per second to achieve 1g, and that there are around 31.5m seconds in a year...short of the long is that we are now doing 1.4 quintillion metres per second, which is around 4.7 billion times the speed of light. (note this is something I worked out myself using the internet, much like a lot of this thread )

I'm still waiting for the guy driving the car who was videoing Jamie Carragher spitting into his car to get done for using his phone on the motorway to take a video! -
Naturally occurring pyramids and cubes etc. are not just 'very possible' its fact, they are all over the planet feel free to go have a look so you don't have to rely on YT or Google images doctored by the government covering up everything. Why would they build something like us? That is the question still standing and the answer is not, why not. Lets put the boot on the other foot. If in the future mankind makes its way across the expanse of space in super hi-tech creations that allow us to survive radiation poisoning, the slow killer that is weightlessness, suppressing the aging process and all the other barriers to space travel - with all that technology we land on another world and build a settlement that resembles a semi-detached bungalow in Croydon carved from the rock of the surrounding area - it just isn't reasonable, sensible or realistic. The problem is that conspiracy theories rely on people disproving their theory whilst grasping at very unlikely other scenarios, rather than making an objective conclusion from their own evidence. Look at this forum, someone comes on here and says that they have built a new product which does X Y Z we don't just take their grainy photos as gospel people question this new idea and look for solid evidence.
-
Which is why you should treat it all as a bit of fun really. The 'cubes' in the Chinese video are not artificial to the environment, they are made from the same substance as the surrounding rock and plenty of similar examples here on Earth - because they are square and look like buildings we build we assume they are not natural. Is rather arrogant really to assume that if a life form can travel across space, why would it build something that just happens to resemble something we would build? Do they even need buildings to live? How utterly daft of them to go to such lengths to hide themselves then just leave it on view for any probe to see? But as you alluded to people will see what they wanted to see. But some people will always want to believe, even if a thousand independent observers flew to the moon and stood next to the cubes and said yes naturally occurring squares someone would be on You Tube saying that all 1000 of them were part of a cover up, that they all were drugged and what they saw was an illusion etc etc and that's enough to just blindly go with it.
