Yep totally, as I said its in their interests to not demonstrate walking away is easy (additionally even if the EU did make more than best endevours to make it easier it is still a massively complicated process) they still have their own interests to look after. None of us are party to the discussions that got us to the final deal May had presented, I suspect all the flex the EU had and their own red lines have been reached - given we are only 10% of their trade its quite reasonable (especially with industries making a lot of noise about relocating to mainland Europe) that they might conclude that no deal would be better for them than giving more concessions and let it roll into that. Not cutting off ones nose at all if the no deal outcome for the EU is no worse than further concessions, both economically and politically.
-
Of course they do. They have their own interests to protect, to make the whole process easy would be completely irrational. BUT they are also negotiating a business deal, as a business you negotiate the best deal you can. You use your leverage and economic advantage to drive the negotiations, the deal we got to has some concessions from the EU but more from us because that's how business works - bigger players get better deals, that's why the EU exists to leverage its size and clout when dealing with business. How anyone in their right mind thought we could as a single economy with no credible recent negotiating experience wander over to Europe and demand what we had before and more against their army of experienced trade negotiators is quite frankly mind-boggling

To be fair, he is right but he is also culpable. David Davies wasted 18 months of our 24 months achieving nothing in his negotiations leaving TM 6 months to step in and sort it out, by then we were already on the back foot. Boris as foreign secretary did nothing to improve relations with our global partners instead mostly making a complete cluster **** of it. Both of them are massively responsible for leaving the UK government no time or leverage to get the best deal we could. That said, the issue of Ireland has been around for 2 years since the vote, it got kicked into the long grass too many times and anyone involved in the process refused to face into it. We shouldn't have got 20 months into the process before all the MPs started getting their knickers in a twist about it and forcing unnecessary splinter groups.

Is he in a baby bouncer hung from the ground waving union jack flags about?

Your typical Leave response will be to show similar comments by pro-remainers making equally outlandish statements. Additionally all the quotes are out of context (especially the Rabb one). But it is a fair point, both sides just made @*!# up without any clue as to how it would be, the difference is that the side that won are then obligated to follow through on those commitments which clearly isn't possible.

I think even if TMs agreement was a good one (to be frank its only the backstop that is putting a fair few MPs off otherwise we have done well) you would still see a reasonable amount of opposition to it by those in red on a point of forcing an election whilst the prime minister is down. She has already said she wont stand at the next election, Labour fear they will miss the chance to grab power if they dont force an election now hence their total disregard for our economic welfare and sole interest in forcing the no confidence vote repeatedly. At a time when the working class are seriously under threat through potential sweeping changes to manufacturing, production etc. Labour could not give one effing hoot about them.

Corbyn talks a good talk but his behaviour around brexit has been as obstructive as any MP in parliament. Talking utter rubbish like lets have an election, Labour win, then go renegotiate and get a better withdrawal deal...the guy is either in fairyland or just happy to grab the PMship and to hell with what follows.

Couldn't agree more, Ed was a complete disaster, had no authority and could never have been trusted to run this country. Was completely bemused David didn't get in, must have been Tory conspirators fixing the result!

Actually if Labour had put the right Milliband in place one wonders where we might be...

In case anyone advocating a no deal is interested, here is what no deal means and who we are dealing with and what we need to agree to: https://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/tif_e/fact2_e.htm
-
Going back and saying no deal means we then have to go to the WTO and create a new deal with them, then once agreed with the WTO we have to trade with the EU, possibly create a trade deal with them after our own government has voted down the deal they negotiated with us. I think we need to clarify that no deal doesn't mean we are free and off and running, we still need to thrash out a deal, but with a different organisation (with more members who are more likely to vote against us). Thats all assuming our own parliament can agree what our trading deal under the WTO is, which I very much doubt.

Watched the first two short treks and quite interesting, literally 15 mins with one or two characters in it only. But quite a compelling watch.
-
Discovery starts up again tomorrow. In case you didnt notice, there are 4 'short' treks on Netflix also which are 15 minute films of specific characters from the Discovery series.

No no, you are wrong, it will be a formality, just like 2 years ago when pro-exit politicians told us exiting the EU would be a formality and we would be signing trade deals by 2020 (Am just being sarcastic before anyone jumps on me with serious responses)
-
This will come up a fair bit, the UK wants to simply 'copy paste' its schedules from the EU to itself within the WTO. The issue is going to be that we will be effectively demanding what the EU demanded, but we are not the EU and a much smaller entity with reduced economic leverage. If we do end up going down a real no deal route the other WTO countries will definitely pay more attention to our submission (which Reuters cite is just a training exercise if you like).

We only have the report to go on (i.e. no context) but on the face of it seems such a shame. That's mob mentality for you and its not confined to Asia you only have to switch on UK TV and see the same vitriol and hatred at an EDL march or other extreme group/mob.

There are two specs for the UK market, GR and A90 both have same performance the A90 being limited edition with various trim changes as I described previously. Or just read it here https://www.toyota.co.uk/world-of-toyota/toyota-gazoo-racing/toyotagrsupra Can imagine Japan might have extra variants.
-
According to the website there is the A90 which is the storm grey version with red interior limited edition 19 inch alloys - no mention of any suspension differences or additional electrics. Otherwise it is in its standard form the Toyota GR (Gazoo Racing) Supra...

I could easily do that, but some people could get funny about it. One is a guy who lives in Teeside who is the dad of my wifes good mate, I don't want to get into a back and forth about it on social media. I think best thing is just unfriend and ignore or whatever the button is.
-
Am I the only one considering blocking or unfriending people on social media? I use FB mainly for keeping tabs on car stuff, meets etc. but have to put up with certain people on there who are lovely people constantly just sharing Memes with all sorts of crap on them. Things like welcoming a no deal brexit when they have not even spent one minute reading the WTO rules. If we move to the WTO rules (we are already part of the WTO through the EU) it doesn't just happen, we have to agree our schedules of operations which all the WTO members have to agree to - so are we 'taking back control' well to a degree, but we still have to agree how we operate with an economic bloc called the WTO instead of the EU moving forwards. As much as some people with a very simple view of the world wont like it, trade is a global 'thing' which no amount of flag waving or chest beating will get them away from.
-
To be honest though, we must look like a bunch of utter numpties to the EU. They negotiate a withdrawal agreement with the government, not with Theresa May, with the British government. In the meantime any MP who wants their name in lights is ranting and jostling for position, we must have about a dozen different groups in parliament all whinging and ranting about their point of view and getting us nowhere. All the while the EU sits there watching our currency tank and we make no progress - how on earth anyone here thinks we can negotiate all these trade deals with the rest of world when we cannot even get past hurdle one of the exit with any sort of consensus in parliament needs their head examining.
-
I could imagine our currency tanking again if things get nasty today. I said it before but I have never seen politicians sinking so low in the hunt for party power. There seem some good ones in there if you look hard enough who debate a good debate (which is the point of parliament) but others like Corbyn are even more blinkered than May, the fact that the EU has already said no more negotiating and he is still banging his drum about another election, go back to the EU and renegotiate. He has even less credibility than May and is quite frankly the wrongest opposition leader that could possibly have been in play.
-
Just going to have to admit on this occasion Dan you are wrong Go on, you might feel a lovely warm glow inside and want to hug random strangers in the street.
-
Well today's the day, looks like May is on to a hiding, Corbyn continues his quest to 'get a general election at the expense of the UKs economy so he can tell his family he got into power even if it means financial ruin' and many more people on either side get back to calling each other liars and that the MPs on their side lie less than those on the other...has May got a brilliant secret plan B, or is she just so blinkered she still thinks today will go ok for her?
