  1. I have always just got something from Amazon and never had problems. You can read verified reviews see what cars people use for some guidance (some verified are fake though!) - they often give guidance on engine size capability etc.
  2. I think ditch the BBQ space mate, and it all goes away. And yes show that his crap is causing damp in your walls and get him to shift it. As an aside, I can imagine some people objecting to builds simply because they don't want building work going on i.e. the noise, random people, rubbish etc. it generates - maybe thats also said jerks motivation?
  3. Yes much better, I think in this case where the car styling has very distinct lines subtle is better.
  4. Nah it will never happen, the Daily Mail told us so, so it must be true. I think any reasonable person must acknowledge that financial passporting is hugely important to EU finance trade and stuff like this was inevitable. I think whats more challenging is that many living outside of London will feel it has no impact on them...
  5. Is there any way to build dream garage whereby he has no grounds to object? Not sure why neighbours who do not share the wall have any grounds to object given that they do not have any connection to it! Just keep being the bigger man Stu, there are so many idiots in the world the place is rife with them, I am sure you will rise above the pettiness this jerk is showing and you can stand there with a big smile once said dream garage gets its final brick put in place.
  6. Richmond is very pretty and upmarket but you might find it hard to find somewhere to park. One pub you could try is the Rose of York https://samuelsmithshotels.co.uk/rose-york-richmond-upon-thames/ which is between Richmond Hill and Richmond high street. Lots of parking and very nice pub. You can also drive along Richmond Hill (see the view off the top you can see for about 25 miles or something) and do a lap of Richmond park where the wild deer roam around. You can also park near King Henrys mound in the park and look down the protected view into London (from that point in the park you can see St Pauls cathedral with the naked eye its quite bizarre).

    Tyre Query

Although concerning reviews, depends on which site you look at, these two do not rate the Falkens above Michelin or the other performance brands for instance. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/91870/tyre-test-2018-results-by-category https://www.evo.co.uk/features/18309/best-car-tyres-evo-performance-tyre-test/page/0/6 They seem to perform well in dry brake tests but drop way down the list into the other mid-budget tyre range for many other measures. I suspect the Auto Bild is something of an anomaly and shows the importance of looking at a number of tests as the weight of the car, set up, test environment etc will all have an effect on the results. I am also on a number of car forums and I haven't seen revelations that the Falken 510s are better or as good as Michelins or the like, I am sure if they were car enthusiasts would be all over them. Without wanting to jump on the bandwagon, I am surprised that you have borrowed heavily to buy a car then find yourself struggling to put what I think everyone would agree the MOST important thing on it, the bit that keeps you on the road. The Falkens will be fine, ditchfinders are the drivers that don't know their limits rather than the tyres, but you have borrowed money to get a performance car which by getting mid-range tyres means you cannot actually use the performance you have paid a big premium for - it seems like you should have possibly saved yourself £10k and got a standard one and enjoyed the car without the pressure of the financial outlays?
  8. I am in Richmond so a relative stone throws away, although no longer in a zed, and selling my Toyota at the moment! A member called Steph on here organises a meet at a pub in Cobham once a month, its currently on hold until the weather improves but will be an option (straight out on the A3)
  9. Would it interfere with the boot opening? Looks like it would drag down the sides?
  10. Not for me either, nice flowing smooth lines suddenly come to an abrupt halt with a spoiler from a 350z. Also hides the nice 'lumps' you see in the lines behind each seat. Just looks a bit amateurish bolting on an old spoiler to a newer car.
  11. Looking good guys, have a great time, sorry I cannot join this time around its a bummer coinciding with kids half term.
  12. Ha yes, the price is in the title of the ad I copied it from but good point out! Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.
  13. Don't worry about imports and insurance, its a bit of a myth that seems to still be doing the rounds. Go to a specialist insurer rather than some faceless generics ones like Admiral et al. and insurance is fine. A quick google shows autos as being around 0.3 to 0.5 seconds slower 0-60 sprint but to be honest if you are not tracking it then when are you ever going to notice?
  14. Yep, its for sale. Some of you may have spied it at meets, a few lucky ones got a passenger ride History of the Car Previous owner bought the car into the country in 2009 (I have photos of it in its condition on arrival) and upgraded the car with it kept in a lock up until 2015 when he sold it on to me. He was a wealthy car collector and was selling it to move onto another project (Escort Cosworth imported from Dubai). I have owned the car since April 2015 and have been constantly working on improving the car with both big and small changes. Reason for Sale I am looking to sell as I would like to get back into a VX220 and after having this car for four years feel its time to move on - I usually only keep my cars for around 10-12 months and move on quickly to the next one, I have owned this one nearly 4 years now to give you some idea of how much this car meant to me. The Details I have a lot of paperwork with the car, original manuals etc. as well as two folders full of receipts for parts since its import in 2009. The car is located in Richmond Surrey, viewing times can be done evenings, weekends and on some week days if I am working from home. Have two keys and two working alarm fobs. There is a blip with the mileage - the clocks failed at 109,791KM these were replaced with used clocks showing 60,072KM and now shows 89,100KM, so total distance is 140,000KM or circa 92,000M. Previous owner did very few miles, I purchased in April 2015 and average around 5000KM per year (aside from 2018 when I drove it across Europe) all of which can be corroborated with the MOT history. The car hits 24 years old next month. The car is for sale priced £9000 no swaps thanks. The car drives really well with no issues or hesitations, I have in my ownership done two big road trips - I drove the North Coast 500 in 2016 with the Zed club here and a European trip down to Italy via France/Switzerland in 2018 and the car was great. The only problem that arose was one of the top mounts failed on the way back from Italy hence the replacement upon my return. Otherwise the car is great for road trips as its comfortable on motorways but nicely focused on mountain/country roads with its 4WD. Full details can be found below, I have also a website for the car here http://celicast205.strikingly.com/ which is slightly out of date but you can see more images of work done over the 4 years of ownership. I have a most up to date video here https://youtu.be/eQajFYp-CPA. I hope from the below you can see the amount of time and money poured into the car, there are only a handful of ST205 Celica GT-Fours left in the country and at a recent Ace Cafe meet of around 40 cars mine came in 2nd overall. Can supply pictures of the scratch for reference.
  15. Yep like I said only moving the exec and head office location to change tax burden and most likely to ease the process of moving the goods they build in Asia across the world (including Europe). BUT politically for a British company to do this right now...fodder.
  16. ...and what will be seen as political fodder, Dyson a pro Brexit business, up sticks and move their Exec team and head office location to Singapore. Obviously since he decided to build the new electric car in Asia and not the UK and shifting his sales focus off to Asia instead of Europe clearly he championed something which he knew from a business perspective has little or no impact on his business. a bit underhanded if you ask me.
  17. Dont underestimate what Doogy says - do you have around a grand spare in case the clutch goes on your high miler? New brakes and pads will set you back five hundred quid. Tyres around one hundred a corner. Personally, I would think £3k is a stretch for a 'decent car' and you would be buying into pretty much the cheapest ones on the market which will be knocking on the door of 15 years old now. Make sure all perishables have been done recently and check for rust etc.
  18. Have had the car 4 years now...unusually long for me!
  19. For some reason, hankering to get back into a VX220. It was such an epic experience driving it, I forget about stuff like having an asthmatic heater, leaks etc and only remember feeling like I am driving an F1 car each time
  20. That said probably going to sell mine this year...its been 4 years now and getting itchy for a change
  21. Sounds like a sit down and talk him through it scenario Stu, he clearly doesn't understand your proposal for the garage properly. Take crayons and lots of nicely coloured paper and walk him through it...
  22. Osbourne and other remainers were simply playing the same political game leavers were, over stating the truth because quite simply the public were just swallowing it all. There was no political gain to be had by Osbourne saying that the UK economy would continue on but with hits to the currency (which no one would understand the impact of past how many Euros they get in exchange for a Pound when heading off on holiday). Fear was played both ways, Leavers had their Project Fear around immigration, around never being able to leave the EU, around jobs, around EU control of our policies, around amount of money spent on the EU each week - it was all 'Project Fear' as well designed to rile the masses which was as much an untruth as anything the remain camp came up with.
