  1. I find with the mitts the feel through the mitt is better than the bar, you can feel when the clay might bite on the paintwork a lot easier than a bar and thus avoid marring. But yes the bar is great for getting into the nooks and crannies, depends how OCD you are!
  2. Much of the above was predicted by remainers, but were told to stop being so negative, to being so anti-Britain etc. Politicians will never come together and sort this out, because they have diverse ideologies, and god forbid the likes of Boris having a serious say on it. There are too many politicians on the take out of this. I think a deal will be struck, but it will crawl over the line.
  3. I find polishing by hand quite frustrating as when you do use a DA instead you can see the difference is night and day. Only thing I would mention are that clay mitts are a lot easier and quicker to use than clay bars, reduces the chance of marring etc. but are just as effective (ok havent tested this but the finish to touch feels the same to me)
  4. I think pretty much the very small mentions of it shouldn't have happened were aimed at the issue at hand, in that it was political points scoring, much as it is now. Politics is in a downward spiral right now and I would imagine public confidence and trust in politicians is at an all time low. What is frustrating is the lazy use of language to describe where we are, Leaving is not 'the will of the people' it was the will of the voters, as cited above its pretty clear that the demographic that didnt vote are by and large remainers, something leavers are pretty frightened of which is why they use language like 'will of the people' to make it sound like its anti-democratic otherwise. For me the worst thing about this vote is not leaving the EU, fine we are going I can handle that, the worst thing is the power being handed to racist bigots like Boris Johnson or Jacob Rees Mogg just to give the government what for. Under some sort of illusion they are pro Britain when they are nothing but pro career and could not give two hoots about this country or the people in it, even if the economy collapses they have a lovely privileged background and bank account to see them through.

    NEW LOOK

Polished rim all the way, just get them out from hiding in the arches and you are in business

    NEW LOOK

Yes they look a little lost in the arches Martin, but it might just be on my screen the tyres are black and dont show up!

    NEW LOOK

    Do those wheels need spacers
  8. Passenger seat is notorious for having the bolt from hell which is under the seat I will definitely be removing the driver seat as it has a coin under there (sorry Doogy that tool would be no use getting under the seat!) that MUST be removed!
  9. Yes might change the badge to the modern vauxhall one, I actually like people seeing it and going 'urrr vauxhall, cant be that fast then' First mods arrived in the post this morning... Speakers are an absolute pain in the backside, as the passenger seat doesn't move you have to literally fit them in a gap around 5 inches in depth. Should be fun, accompanied with copious swear words! Took the car out for a spin today, bloody hell it is blisteringly fast. So glad its got bigger wheels/tyres on it, no idea how people controlled it with the skinny OEM ones!
  10. Nice!...definitely a girls car though
  11. Yes I think different colour on the wheels, the wheels are immaculate though so are down the list of things to sort. In reality they do look better than the photos as the iPhone camera obviously doesnt capture the light as well as the human eye. Inside its 'biscuit' which is the beige colour scheme which some VX owners love, personally I hate hence the requirement to change it asap!
  12. Gave the new car the coldel clean treatment today, prep, wash, clay, polish (by hand so not so effective) and wax. Wheels decontaminated, waxed, tyres cleaned. So all the exterior nicely done. Engine bay needs work, interior definitely needs work, but that will be some fun for Friday. When polished it really does come up a nice blue, takes a bit of elbow grease but really liking the colour - I was adamant I wouldn't get silver to the frustration of many on the owner forum who were trying to help me get a car! Doing a decent exterior detail means you find all the blemishes you missed first time. Found a few around the rear boot area as you might expect for this type of car, nothing that the DA wont shift though. Main paint issues are around the bottom of the 'ear's that feed the cold air into the engine bay, they are battered with stone chips, inevitable though I would think so not too concerned about that. Throwing a decent amount of water at the roof I managed to make some of it go through into the car, the seals are pretty good I think 99% of the time they will be fine for resisting water getting in, it worked fine in the hail storm that hit me when I collected the car! The roof itself looks like has been sealed by the previous owner, the water beaded and ran of it really well, and having another good look at it, looks in great condition (these are not cheap to replace circa £500-£1000). Next jobs in no particular order: New wiper blade (only need one!) Start planning the interior make over New head unit, rear speakers and tweeters (has very rare optional tweeters in the front) Find a way to get the damn coin that is stuck under the drivers seat and rattles about out!
  13. They are very different cars, I think whats more important is what you want out of the next car? TTS is fast, add a remap and its very fast, and will be much faster in a straight line than a 350z. The Zed is a GT car, great for lazy power, linear delivery etc. TTS is a turbo and delivers it with boost and arguably more excitement! 2WD vs 4WD has been covered above. Interior wise I am expecting the Audi to come out on top. Feel wise possibly the Zed (having not driven a TTS but Audi don't have good form in terms of driver feel).
  14. Thanks Andy, exterior wise it is already a smashing looking car, wouldnt believe it is essentially a 15 year old design. The camera doesnt really do it just for some reason. But anyway really looking at some ideas for working on the interior, want to carpet it, rework the seats etc. Also small stuff like change all the bolts in the engine bay and other fun easy stuff like that.
  15. If you didnt do this, you bought the wrong car.
  16. I bought a cheap Chinese unbranded one once off ebay for something like 60 quid, was about 8 years ago, but the tech was terrible literally the USB player had a different interface look and feel to the ipod cable interface vs the radio interface and so on. It took about 15 seconds to switch from one mode to another, it was terrible! Probably best just getting a decent branded used one off ebay?
  17. Remap was done by Rabbid Remaps, not heard of them myself but they are very popular amongst the Vauxhall VXR lot (Z20LET engine) and have to say it is so smooth in power delivery. The Chris Tullet exhaust isnt too overbearing either.
  18. ...like one I have had before, but a little bit different Remapped to 225bhp, it absolutely flies along, shame I picked it up this afternoon just as the heavens opened up and decided to unload a tonne of hail! I was all set to go topless! Car is mechanically in great condition, Tullet exhaust, 111r refurbed suspension, Compomotive wheels and brand new kuhmo tyres. Interior is scratch free but its something I really want to work on for this car, get it looking a bit unique and a tad more comfortable. The car drives really well, the 111r suspension is a bit more forgiving than the NA suspension I had previously. Clearly need to spend a good few hours washing, claying, polishing and waxing but will enjoy that (surface area on these cars is about half the Celica!). Also has an uber rare blue soft top. Anyway, hope to bring it along to a few meets, if you let me in! A photo of it having just done the M25 in a storm...
  19. Often comes up. But put it in context, you are going to spend between £5k-£10k on a car and £250 is an issue and a driver of what car you get? To be frank, that is bonkers. Thats about 2 1/2 tanks of fuel. Get the best car (HR's have many benefits) and cut a few beers out for the year and you are in the better place.
  20. Quoting me out of context Doc, how very brexit of you I did say it also has opinions based on good reading etc!
  21. To be honest the whole thread is full of conjecture, articles, social media, personal opinion based on nothing but personal experience, opinion based on background reading and so on and so forth. Remainers find the head in the sand attitude of Leavers infuriating, Leavers find the Remainers constant views on the negatives infuriating. You either tolerate it or do not take part. Sure some posts are just links, the poster is bringing it to the attention of those on the thread, it is just stimulus for the discussion. I think generally the best approach to this topic is read a post, take 10 deep breaths, imagine you are at the pub with these people and they have just bought you a beer, be objective, then reply....
  22. I can hear it, its very subtle, could you get someone to rev as you stand over the car and record it?

    NEW RIMS ARE ON

    And about time!
  24. Another defeat later then...TM is doing so well To be honest what did we expect? If we could unilaterally leave it then there would be no point to having it in reality. Have to chuckle still at Liam Fox saying 'leaving the EU will be the easiest thing in human history' - is anyone still taking him seriously?
