Thanks, just saw that black 350z at the dealer we had a deal with sell the car I wanted - bunch of absolute *!&*@£s Another week and another blank...

I had a sat nav head unit on the Astra and have to say its just in the wrong place that far down the dash and not in your normal eye line when driving so wouldnt bother with it. Will probably replace the HU too and go for something with USB input (I have all my music on a stick) and Bluetooth, Double Din, not that expensive at around £200 and easy enough to fit if you have a bit of confidence.

The reason I heard was because the number of car thefts where the thieves have targeted a specific car that is garaged, then broken into the house and stolen the keys to take the car cleanly, is by all accounts on the up.

Wow, had someone from the Astra forum I am on say they are interested in the car, willing to drive down from Scotland! Fingers crossed

I stuck in a 350z under my name with zero NCB and it came out at £800 fully comp no excess. I heard somewhere that claiming to have the car parked in the garage makes the premiums higher than claiming it parked on the street.

I been driving for 20 years but thanks to living abroad for the last 5 have zero no claims - so my wife rang an insurance company she used years ago and they gave her 3 years NCB! So our current car is insured under that. What is more ridiculous is this latest ruling that women have to pay the same as men in insurance...that'll bump it right up.

I know it would be awesome - 62k on a 04 plate car - even though it has service history does worry me a bit though, means in about two years its hard to sell as it will be a 9 year old car with 80k+ on it...otherwise I would be on my way up there now.

Hmmm got a dealer offering a 62k miles car with service history, black, gt, for the Astra plus 2750 quid...got the Astra up for 6750 now private but no joy. Thoughts? In effect I would be taking 6250 for the Astra...they are asking 9000 for the 350Z, and it means driving 250 miles ...

I 'research' for a living so found this quite interesting! I will get the numbers once I actually buy my Z but its interesting to see that at the budget I am looking around for the colours are skewed quite heavily away from what was on the original post - under 10k the choices are silver, silver, silver, silver and a few Orange with a light sprinkling of GM. I really don't like silver as well...

Seems to be the same problem as me, lots of 'em around. I thought the fact my Astra has the XP kit on it (only about 1 in 20 have it) would have helped sell it but clearly not. But don't take the 350Z - there is something called sods law that exists out there and you know it'll be heading your way the second you leave the garage...

Funny enough I have been driving for nearly 20 years, have only had 2 points on my licence in that time (parking on a zigzag when I was 17) no accidents and I have zero years claims bonus Been living abroad for the last few years, also had a company car for 9 months. Current car insured under the wifes name. Would love to go for a forum members car I couldn't agree more that it would be better looked after, been offered some good deals, problem is I cannot shift this Astra thus don't have the cash. Via a dealer I can offload it and make up the rest in cash....

It was this dealer that burnt me in a previous post. Agreed to p/x the 350Z, agreed to bring the Astra up the following day - then hours before I depart for Borehamwood to get the Astra valued I call Leicester just to make sure its still there, they said someone from Devon has put a deposit on it and is coming up on Sunday...I was willing to buy pretty much straightaway, gutted. I asked the guy to call me if the Devonshire fella doesn't want it. Will await anxiously by the phone Sunday although I'm not holding out much hope.

Dealer started off offering the 350Z to me for the Astra plus 3500 quid, got him to Astra plus 2500 very quickly... ...told him I will call him back. It doesn't have the Rays alloys and is Silver...I'm thinking no...as much as I want a 350Z badly.

I just think online Silver looks a bit naff, but up front for real could look different - do you think it looks better in reality? Ian's car is amazing, but just too far modded for me, insurance would cost about the same as the car each year!

Dealer currently trying to make some numbers add up for me right now, for a 04 plate GT in Silver with 47k miles on the clock FSH standard alloys though not Rays. Views on Silver as a colour? I was hoping to get Grey, Blue or Black...

Oh and although the wife gave me the thumbs up to 'buy a sports car' she still doesn't know what car I am going for - will just surprise her when I get it...hope she likes it!

Looking pretty far afield actually - got no problem buying say 150 miles away - in fact just love the thought of buying one and 'having' to drive it 150 miles home Got an email this morning for the Astra, within seconds though realised it was a scam mail - asking for my paypal ID, my email address, my phone number and home address...one second you're up then back down again. I have seen a few private that I like but obviously my cash is tied up in the Astra, if I had sold that already I am sure I would have been cruising around in a lovely 350Z by now..

I had a company car Scirocco last year, I got it in black but could have gone for Viper Green (In hindsight should have!) which in the cold light of day looks fantastic.

blimmin 'eck - checked AutoTrader yesterday, saw a nice one in there appeared yesterday morning - rang up, got my Astra booked in to view today in Borehamwood, getting ready to go up there and bang, got an email apparently someone has put a deposit on it. After 1 day. I cannot just cannot explain how frustrating this is - I am beginning to hate this Astra like its some sort of weight around my neck.

Just browsing AutoTrader, pistonheads etc and a fair few ads don't state specifically if its an Import or not. On AutoTrader you can check the BHP, are all imports the 300bhp version? Is that an easy way to spot one?

Actualyl seen a couple just down the road in my price range just need to shift this damn astra - so frustrating - in fact just knocked £250 off the astra to see if it gets a few more hits. Ian, thanks for the mention, will bear it in mind when I finally get rid of the Astra, just looking a little bit more local at the moment.

Oh and here is the Astra (thanks Martinmac) - bought it just last December with my head (and some leaning on by the missus) and not my heart when I really wanted a 350Z. She has barely driven it since and has come around to the idea of a nice sports car so now I have permission to sell and get that Z I wanted That said I had some fun smartening up the Astra, amazing the difference 800 quids worth of stuff can make to a cars enjoyment and looks. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2630871.htm

? 42k miles is erm fine, I said up front anything around 50k is my target. Doesn't mean I won't consider say a 55-60k miler if it was closeby etc.
