Anyone got any pics of 40 profile on standard 18 inch wheels? I am quite interested in looking at this but am worried it will just look odd as the wheel/tyre combo already looks a little 'lost' in the wheel arches as it is.
Just for reference, the clacking sound was the clicky axle which Alex's part fixed which is great.
The shhh sound was actually coming from the front wheel not the back and was where a back plate was bent and rubbing the back of the disc. A quick hand behind there and some elbow grease and all fixed!
An 8am start, a wheel clean, tyre dressing, wash, clay, polish - off to the in laws at the weekend and he hasn't seen the car yet, he is particular about the cars we get so hoping this looks the biz when we pull up!
Its a public holiday, its warm, quiet, relaxed...what better to do than to get up early and give the Zed a once over.
Finally think I am getting this Zed back to its former glory after 4 weeks of care and attention since I bought it...
Might try the tape wrap solution, my one is utterly useless as the second my finger catches the edge it just comes out the hole. Rubbish engineering Nissan!
Might even be worth 'building my own' to go in there, could be fun!
This looks interesting, I have that same layout in my GT UK spec 04 plate Zed, do I need an adapter in the same way? I have an iPhone 3gs...tried pairing it but nothing happened, but then again I really don't know what I am doing...
Its bugging the hell out of me, it just flaps about in the hole it sits in, is useless really, its not secured down in anyway. Any suggestions on what I can use that dinky space for? Are there any replacement parts that can go in there that provide a more useful cubby or the like?
Good stuff! Im heading to Cornwall for a bit of a road trip with the wife on Monday for a few days...hoping the weather holds out. Planning on a visit to Falmouth, drive through the moors, plus a bit of coastal road driving. Should be a good few days.
Cheers mate, not only was I unsure on the badge placement (which took about 5 attempts to line up with masking tape and bits of cardboard!) but it does make the black car look very black...I am thinking (once I fix the clutch!) that black wheels with some sort of silver rim would go nicely on it too...
Nothing too drastic but took a little risk on placement of the 350Z badge, think it came out ok. Black badge on the front as well to complete the look, don't have a photo though as it took so long getting the Nissan adhesive off it had gotten dark!
(apologies for the iPhone photo quality)
I would say gloss, I think the matt fad as been and gone, when you want your car looking stunning then gloss is the way to go in my opinion - but like a previous poster said, your opinion is what counts.
Or you could just carbon fiber wrap the whole car
I remember when I got a VW Scirocco 1.4 Turbo Super Charged company car...had to wait 2 months for it...drove me mental but that moment when I climbed in, fired it up, drove off down the road was magic.
OK, four weeks in with the Z and been putting in SUL the whole time except at the weekend when the garage only had UL.
I don't like the word 'detonation' and it seems to be associated with UL...
If I have stuck UL in, and, the possibility that the previous owner may have used unleaded, will the car need a remap?
I don't think people are aware of the outcome of doing this sort of thing. They watch movies where there is a 5 minute fight scene and you might see a slightly bloody nose and both guys walk away and they think that's reality.
I have met some great Polish people in my time, I am pretty sure they are just as embarrassed by this sort of behaviour by their countrymen as I am of watching some England fans causing riots and ripping up bars in other countries and the like. Fortunately it is in the minority, and the majority are as welcoming as you would want.
I have been to Warsaw five or six times on business never had any trouble, but then again I go out in the evenings with Poles who take me to places where there won't be stag do's or the like. In the end as much as this story sounds utterly horrific, this sort of thing happens in the UK all the time as well. I used to live in Essex, and the reason I moved out of there was because two guys came up behind me in a bar and smashed me over the head with a wine bottle from behind because 'i had a white shirt on and someone in a white shirt had looked at his girlfriend earlier in the night' - just as daft a reason as the idiot in the Polish bar who hit the original posters mate for no real reason.
Anyway I still have the 4 inch titanium plate riveted to my jaw where is shattered in three places, and no it doesn't beep in airports
I've been considering using one of those...what's the sound quality like?
Do I need to get a specific type?
Thanks,
Hassan
Its a little 'tinny' but otherwise good enough for everyday listening, you don't get any interference like the radio transmitters. I just bought one of these...
