  1. I have heard about this, a few people mentioned it at the Grasshopper meet a few weeks back. I might buy a £200 car to save on the insurance Seriously though probably will be getting a second car when we move, so a distinct possibility.
  2. You have done well there, I recently wrote a blog on insurance if you fancy a look at it: http://clippingtheapex.wordpress.com/2011/05/16/reassurance-on-insurance-please/ Setting aside my ranting at the end there are some interesting numbers in there I gleaned from the AA Insurance Index which came out in March. I am a little nervous about my renewal in October I must admit!
  3. Cheers, might go stick 40 quids worth in to see how it affects it over the next couple of days, might have just been a one off fingers crossed.
  4. OK...and the next post will be to say that they are cheap to replace...please...just forked out for a CV joint, clutch and flywheel - car has been a disaster in repairs since I got it
  5. DP started up a thread recently about how accurate the readings are on fuel, maybe a fuel pump or some sort of faulty sensor? But what happened to me this morning seemed a lot more extreme though and was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. Started the car up, let it idle for a minute or two then pull away and noticed the DTE had come up automatically on the computer, looked at the fuel gauge which last night showed 1/4 tank and it was in the red with the amber warning light on. I stopped the car, got out, checked underneath, made sure the fuel cap hadn't been tampered with and nothing. Got back in the car started it up and fuel gauge needle goes up to 1/4 tank. I drive about a mile then stop at some lights, look at the needle and can see it slowly dropping, it dropped almost into the red and I switched off and started up again and pulled away. The needle then went back up to 1/4 of a tank where it remained until getting to work... Any ideas?
  6. Ruddy nora, sounds fooked to me

  8. Vid is down as 'private' can't watch it mate?
  9. Who would fit these straight on? I couldn't find a garage that would do it on my Astra when I bought some Eibach springs for it...tempted to get a set but would need them fitted on...
  10. I am having a bit of a guess but I think it might have been my old Fiesta 1.4s - probably my second favourite car ever owned. Rusting to pieces (so its lighter and hence faster), bits missing from the engine (making it more efficient and again lighter) and generally just about hanging together by the paintwork, I daren't clean it. Went like a bullet though!
  11. Any views on Stillen HFCs?
  12. Took the car out for a spin yesterday, am so excited only had it a few weeks. In fact so excited that I took my eye off the road and drove into the back of the car in front of me. I got out my car, he got out his and would you believe it he was a dwarf and he was very upset. He said "Im not happy" I said "So which one are you then?"
  13. Can't help you there mate, get all my work done for nowt (dad and brother both car mechanics) but I am sure i have read some comments quoting around the £300 mark? Took my dad/brother with no ramp about 3 1/2 hours to do the work - so imagine a garage with a ramp should be able to do it in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on whether they have to spend time learning as they go as they might not have done one on a 350z before.

    New addition

Popped into RTPerformance today on the way home had a chat with Taras, loved the look of that V2 front bumper. Could well be sending a few quid in their direction over the coming few weeks!
  15. If you can repair the holes...a bargain http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Varis-350Z-Carbon-Engine-Cover-/170639139404?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27bae2a24c
  16. Had my clutch done a week or so ago, if its slipping it means the flywheel is being eaten up by the studs in the clutch plate in which case means its done for. Best order both for the refit though as you cant tell if the flywheel is done for until its all out of the car. Lighter flywheels do chatter more by all accounts, but other members on here say they can live with it. I just went for a stock dual mass replacement.
  17. If it is already slipping then that's the flywheel done - you will need a new clutch kit and flywheel. Absolute pain in the backside as I had £1k set aside to spend on goodies after I bought my car and after 4 weeks had spent it all on a new CV joint and Clutch/Flywheel
  18. It could be the clutch still, just changed mine after showing similar symptoms. How high is the biting point on your pedal? Sometimes an indicator of a fading clutch if its fairly high. Mine was the same, did a drive to Cornwall and back and putting my foot down in higher gears resulted in lack of power and the rev sweep before it bites. Mine had done 45k miles when it got changed and had full Nissan service history.
  19. Ended up selling for £520 which is a bit of a bargain, I chucked the odd cheeky bid in but really need to keep the cash back for a new bumper plus a few other bits...
  20. I think Bilic or Di Matteo would acheive that, maybe even Big Sam but doubt he would drop a division, thats the problem really. I think as well any manager coming in will want to have control over the sales of players. It's quite tricky as any new manager will have no idea who really doesnt deserve to stay at the club. Upson and Cole were dire this season, like they just couldn't be bothered.
  21. Personally I think Roberto Di Matteo might be a good fit for the club. I can imagine Slavan Bilic will come up again given his previous playing time there. Not Steve McClaren though, please no.
  22. I wouldn't want him at my amateur Saturday team Be good to see Kevin Keen on the touchline against Sunderland, remember watching him years ago and was a cracking little player.
  23. Avram was sacked 30 mins after the game today He was terribly out of his depth, a non existent transfer strategy, some bizarre formation changes during the season, completely blind to just how poor our defenders were and ignored it...the list is endless really. A truly awful manager, dare I say it bring in Big Sam, although be hard pressed to get in a manager in the Championship who will have limited funds AND have to work under a board containing Sullivan Gold and Brady.
