  1. When my clutch got changed recently they handed me the propshaft to move out of the way, didnt realise I was carrying a carbon fiber piece of race spec material...and it was on my car...honoured.
  2. I was kidding on my remark by the way.. They do look erm crap.
  3. Got Orange Broadband at the moment and it is a bit crap I'm afraid. You wont get 20mb, check the news, only about 1% of the country actually has the capability to get these speeds and there is a push by law makers to stop broadband providers quoting max speeds instead of average speeds which are much lower. Customer service is okish, but in two years of having it have had to partake in at least six or seven 30 minute phone calls because the broadband has reset itself and wont work. Customer service are complete 'script readers' and are not experts in any way whatsoever. I am pretty sure there are better providers out there...
  4. Sounds a bit daft, but have you tried putting the old gear knob back on see if it still does it?
  5. Longer term I am going for a spacer+exhaust+remap, should be good for a fair few extra horses. If you can fit it yourself and you are planning on a remap then worth the money I reckon...
  6. If its any consolation a mate at work has a Z and his was nicked when he first got it five years ago, six months later he got it back! They don't always end up in a press or at the bottom of a lake...
  7. I got a gear knob from KTA and when I put it on i heard an annoying rattle which only stopped when I gripped the gear knob hard (ok queue the jokes...). Anyway my dad had some white tape (cant remember what he said it was) but he wrapped it around the gear stick thread then put the gear knob back on and viola, fixed.
  8. Not for me really, want some wheels first! But still only at £80...worth a punt?
  9. Vauxhall do a chip for the vxr astra that gives an extra 50bhp for less than that. I have a buddy who's running 310 out a vxr with a few minor upgrades and a remap. Yeah I read about these chips on the Astra forum I was on, get him to check it as all it does is open up the fuel supply and floods the engine with too much fuel, a few people on the site complained of needing a complete engine rebuild...
  10. I had a bog standard Astra 1.8 and considered going for a VXR but so glad I didn't. 350z has kudos, Astra VXR's look like any other road car out there, no one double takes an Astra no matter how much turbo power is bolted to it. Performance wise for a VXR unless you are will to go stage 2 or 3 on tuning which starts running into £3k+ you are going to max out at around 250bhp. The older Zed can quickly get itself up to 300bhp for half that cost (exhaust spacer remap). I also found the Astra's to be what I call 'soul-less', they just lack that gusto and character. Never for one second have I regretted going for a Zed over any hot hatch.
  11. Not bad at all, take the gear gaiter off, get yourself a couple of molegrips. one on the base of the gear stick and one on the gear knob making sure you got suitable protection between the grips and the material and twist. Just make sure not to put pressure on the base as it will turn in the gear box and can cause damage.
  12. Probably dead by now...
  13. Distributing it round the world as we speak...superb.
  14. Just beat me to it...can't wait to see the final version.
  15. Oh the Tanabe exhaust, yeah I had one of those fitted the other day with a jspeed Y pipe sounds alright, might change it not quite good enough for me...
  16. Hmmmm...I am thinking that I get some used 18s, switch the ones I currently have keep the tyres and longer term maybe look to 19s. Just cant spare the £1k for a set of 19s at the moment with the bodywork stuff I need to pay out for.
  17. No they aren't, sorry I didn't explain properly. I don't like the look of the Rays, I have the standard 6 spokes but they are shot to pieces so they need replacing. So I am thinking of venturing into aftermarket alloys rather than just defaulting to the Rays.
  18. I actually don't like the look of the Rays that much (sorry everyone!) and my current ones are battered, seems a waste to spend £300 refurbing the standard ones when for a little more I could get some much better looking 18s...
  19. Im a bit of a noob when it comes to wheels, I understand that they need to be 5x114 for the bolts to fit, where I am falling over a bit is offset and clearance of the brembos. Seems most alloys are not concave enough to clear the brakes, is the solution simply to buy spacers and fit them behind the wheels?
  20. Good stuff guys...think I might go the 18s route as well...plenty more on offer as well it seems at that size.
  21. I use my Z everyday, lots of smaller 30mph roads as well. I am going to change the wheels at some point, been looking only at 19" so far but wondering, maybe I should stick to 18s. Principle being that given I use it so much that comfort in the longer term is probably more important than 19" looks? What do you think? Are 19s that much more uncomfortable?
  22. I think mine might have been a one off earlier then, when I restarted the car it went a bit mental but then after a couple of restarts behaved as normal. If a sensor was faulty it would show the incorrect reading all the time I would have thought?
