Loving those...Volks rule.

Wife drove the car for the first time with the new wheels on, almost predictably kerbed the front offside wheel...

Recently purchased black spline nuts from these chaps, arrived promptly and look great on my GTVs

If that's true, then you're really not trying hard enough Falkens aren't the grippiest of tyres in any condition, and with 300bhp to play with you should be lighting them up at will. But this is exactly my point, why is the TCS coming on with my softly softly driving style? I average much closer to 30 mpg than 20 and rarely give it the boot but even then the friggin TCS comes on - when it does come on its not consistent either it comes on goes off comes on again. Might be worth getting it checked and a dyno run...maybe I havent got anywhere near 300bhp...
-
I would have disagree with you Chris on this point I have booted my car out of corners with TCS and nothing, my Falkens stick fine absolutely no problem no spin no loss of control, not a hint of it in fact . Repeat the manouvre with TCS on and it kicks in rather bluntly and makes the whole episode rather lumbering. Even pulling away from lights at half throttle feeding it in with both clutch and throttle control and the TCS will on occasions make a dogs dinner of it all whereas with TCS off for the last month not a thing, lovely smooth control. Maybe it is my TCS playing up? I cant see why it is intervening on an almost daily basis when over the course of a month I havent had a single wheel spinning incident?

Crikey, am I a bad-taste-wheel man? I thought they looked a bit cheap lol
-
I have done track days, also a few of those fun experience events where you jump in Ferraris etc and I thought it was pretty easy to 'feel' the rears starting to go or to spin, lots of telltale signs like the rev counter jumping, noise, back end wobble etc - I am sure most people notice this when the wheels are spinning even when its ever so slightly?
-
I had an Astra 1.8i with traction control, it kicked in less than the 350z for sure, I spun my wheels on more occasions with that car than with the Z
-
They might be 'better' wheels but they don't 'look' better in my humble opinion
-
See my previous post, try as I might I can't get my wheels to spin out of the works car park onto the A4 with it off. Yet with it on the TCS kicks in very quickly with the same level of boot applied. I have no idea why, is it actually a problem with my TCS? I havent yet spun my wheels in nearly 3 months of ownership with the TCS off, yet with it on it keeps interfering, I can feel the car lose power or start to slow when I least need it to.
-
I'm not sure! The middle of the wheels just look tiny, makes them look quite chunky. Think the Rota GTRs would look better?
-
I think you were just leaden footed pal I never touched TCS in the first month of ownership, then recently started trying it out without TCS and nothing has changed on the MPG front for me?
-
Oh dear! Husky's warning coming out loud and clear there I have been testing this week also! I like running mine with TCS off in the dry, as soon as the rain comes down though it goes straight back on again. I still think the TCS is over protective in the dry though, I tested that exit from my work car park over the course of this week, with TCS on I get it cutting in even when giving it about 80% yet when its off and doing the same the wheels are not spinning nor are the close to spinning either. I am also a light right footer, I didnt realise it until this week but I barely throttle at all when I drive, I drove from home to work this morning without pushing the throttle more than a quarter the way down, max revs about 4000, when I pull away I use about 1500-2000 revs max but the car 'feels' a lot smoother a ride with the TCS off even when driving at these low revs.

Actually that is funny, giggling to myself in the office, getting strange looks

Interested in this also...I am undecided about what exhaust to get at the moment (am in a 350z) but for sure there is only one real solution for MoT passing Cat replacement - it would make more sense to buy the HFC and take it from there...

Look here about Aluminium nuts...http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50584 I ended up getting a set of black steel spline nuts from Rarerims £25 and they look fantastic with my Volks GTVs - they had tapered ends at 60 degrees and fitted fine - I am presuming GTSs would have the same fit, don't quote me on it though!

Got a couple of deep scratches on my rear bumper which I am getting repainted in a few weeks, will be a smidgen over £200 just because of a couple of scratches...

There seems to be a little misinterpretation that a 10kg bike cant damage a car - it maybe cant in itself, but a cyclist 'causing' an accident can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage. This morning when I had to stop on the middle of a roundabout because of an idiot who knew exactly what he was doing when breaking the law left me prone - luckily it was seven in the morning and nice and quiet, if it was later in the day and busier there is no reason why another car would not have been able to stop in time before hitting me from another direction. As a cyclist with no insurance, causing an accident, would they be happy to pay out on replacement parts from a Nissan dealer on a Z and maybe the Ferrari that drove into me? No doubt they would be pedaling like crazy in the opposite direction. I too give cyclists plenty of room, I don't cause them any hassle, I am aware that they can't always see me behind them etc. I just wish that at least one or two cyclists every morning would reciprocate that and consider my situation in a car, unfortunately they on the whole, do not
-
I guess by making it law that bikes need a licence or insurance, that if a bike causes a collision with a car then the aforementioned incident instead of the cyclist taking the guy for everything he has he will have to pedal off if uninsured - at least it prevents those sorts of spurious claims - even if it means you dont catch the guy.

Saw these on a Mini the other day, just ridiculous...
-
Just wait at the same spot the following day and when he comes past drive over him
-
Abbey or Horsham Dev? They are on this forum as traders and probably could help? Abbey are in Surrey and probably your best bet - Horsham are in Berkshire past Reading down the M4...drop them a PM see what they can do for you.
-
I nearly bid on that - looks a pretty good buy. If he had it on a previous Z then I suspect fitment should be ok?
-
Yep take them off, I had to to get my Volks on.

I think this demonstrates the point exactly though - a lot of the time cars do things which are wrong which is fine, if its done without deliberate intent. Cyclists do it but with total intent and knowing what they are doing. If I am driving at 20mph and a cyclists comes up the inside of my car and my car moves three or four inches to the left due to a road situation ahead of me I am sorry but bang on my window at your own peril. Like any overtaking (or dangerous undertaking) manouvre it is the responsiblity of the cyclist to make sure its safe to do so - if its not, then wait. In my experience I would say 80%-90% of cyclists in London break fundamental rules of the road every time they take to it. That number is no where near for cars in fact I would say again from experience that 70%-80% of cars drive from point of departure to point of arrival without breaking the law and using the roads sensibly. I used to subscribe to Cycling Plus and once read in there an interview with a leading spokesman for cyclists in the UK and he said it was ok for bikes to run red lights if safe to do so - its this sheep leading sheep mentality that is so dangerous.
