I checked on the AA site and it mentioned spare bulbs were optional? It is bizarre as there is no way you could replace a bulb on a Zed unless you got a tool kit in the back which isnt legal requirements? Im hoping my French language skills and previous residency in France will help get me out of any tricky spots, although will only be in France for like 30 mins as am landing at Dunkirque and driving across the border to Bruges.

Halfords it is then...cheers guys!

Off to Bruges in a few weeks time driving on continental Europe for the first time. Think I have everything sorted, Insurance, Breakdown Cover, Luminous Jacket, Triangle only thing I am needing are the beam convertors, anyone recommend a good set which fit the Z?

...apart from when I am washing the car and numerous friends in the neighbourhood I have made but on the way back from Gloucester waiting in the car whilst Rebecca was in a petrol station grabbing some supplie, some random walked up and gave me a big thumbs up and said 'bloody nice car that mate, nice one'

+1 Come on guys, easy up. I am from Essex, think about what I have to put up with!

A bit more pricey but swear by these, fantastic towels...had the same ones going now for about 4 months...use them weekly. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kent-Q6100-Extra-Microfibre-Drying/dp/B0030B9U6Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1311600229&sr=8-2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-Drying-Motorhome-Caravans-Express/dp/B003UZRS5W/ref=pd_sim_auto_9

Yeah I know, being lazy, that said there would be no questions on here at all about anything if we just all googled...

OK, here is the dumb question, whats Parallels?

Yep might time machine the laptop before I do it...I have photoshop elements, and I do a lot of photography so don't want to lose the use of that
-
Shouldn't use photoshop to correct mistakes, just to add effects you otherwise wouldn't have had on the camera. Upping the contrast on shots where you have dark colours makes for a better impact. For example this bad boy I upped the contrast and darkened some shadows to make it feel a bit more gritty - even though the original shot was perfectly fine. Also, you can add effects like colour splash very easily, again no correcting of the shot just adding an effect.

Quite fancy upgrading my Mac Pro to this, but reading a few stories of applications like Office and Photoshop not being compatible with it - anyone got any experience with Lion? Is there a risk I am running by upgrading?

oops sorry, lazy reading...

Have you tried repairing the leather? I paid circa £50 for a kit, put some results on this thread here - did it over a weekend when not planning on taking the car out. http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=51015&p=742168&hilit=leather+clean#p742168

I heard a tip that a good start is a cloth with some WD40, gets you off to a good start!

I got a Tamron 100-300mm zoom, takes a good picture but auto focus is slower than the equivalent Canon ones so you need to be pretty nifty with the manual focus. I bought a Canon 60mm macro fixed lens, probably the best one I have - macro function on the Canon 25-85mm I have is ok but not great. If anyones travelling to Japan put some money aside for lenses, they retail at about a third the price as they are here.

As I said, lucky enough to work (not for much longer though!) 5 mins from RTP so could leave the car with them for three days to get it spot on, which they did.

Not sure whether it was a sign of things to come but my trusty SLR is the Canon 350D! Can I claim to own two 350s now? Hints and tips...hmmm...don't buy an SLR and use the Auto mode Filters make all the difference, always have a polarizing filter ready to ensure I capture good outdoor photos. Neutral Density filters are good fun for taking shots of stuff on the move such as track days etc. Best thing I can advise is go get yourself a relatively cheap handbook on photography, doesn't have to be encyclopedic, just short summaries of different techniques, most people just need that intro to get started and can kick on themselves through trial and error. Oh and I love my macro lens...

I was wondering if you could have got the Zed in front of the Love Hurts scrawl! Good thread idea though! I still use my old Canon DSLR, had it about 8 years now, 8mp and is brilliant - invested in a decent 18-85mm Canon branded lens for it amazing how much difference a proper lens makes compared to the cheaper unbranded ones. Also have 60mm macro lens, and a Tamron 300mm zoom lens. Various filters etc. Anyway a few bits and pieces I have had a go at... Lived in Paris for a couple of years, got up at 4am to cycle to the Trocadero to photograph the tower at dawn, actually got involved in a terrorist swoop enroute (another story) but made it in time to have the whole of Paris to myself... When living in Japan, decided to have a go at climbing Fuji, there are a few huts on the way up with guys living in them who have no concept of the fear of heights... Do love photographing Britain though, you find the weirdest of places like this road name Or just famous places!

Well always been a positive kind of bloke, contacts starting to come back to me now - CV is currently clogging up the broadband, even had my mentor from my time in Japan (all sounds a bit karate kid I know!) ring me to chat things things through this morning, he is passing my CV onto various CEOs in the UK he is in contact with. Amazing how something like this focuses you so much...

Saw Steve's car last week as I was in there, looks a lot redder than the photo shows (just goes to show photos don't show the exact shade you would seeing it for real) and it hadn't even gotten to the tidy and polish stages which will really bring it up, so far looking very nice Steve. +1 on my rear end, not only is it a thing of beauty but the colour match is absolutely spot on

Redundancy is three months tax free lump sum plus a week for every year you worked, which is substantially more than getting your net salary till you have worked your notice period. I am going to push to get out the office ASAP so I can get on with things, getting the legal paperwork through tomorrow. I have just been laid off in the first year of employment though which leaves you with almost no rights or ability to claim anything from them, ironic as the previous company I was at I was there 10 years...

Yep, I am a 250+ contacts fella on LinkedIn, just been firing out emails all day. Problem I have is that I haven't been made redundant, I have been deemed as 'not required due to unprecedented structural change enforced by market conditions', as I don't have 2 years time served with them I don't qualify for statutory redundancy. So I get paid as normal for my notice period of 3 months during which I am expected to fulfill my duties which means going into the office everyday till the end of that three months. So I get no pay out, am taxed as per normal, there is no safety net a lot of the other guys have as they have been there long enough to get redundancy which for most is easily into five figures and beyond. Its the third time now in 18 months this has happened...before my wife was working so we had a backup plan, or I already had something semi ready to move to in the pipeline. This has caught me off guard a bit and with a house move and incoming baby has heightened the issue. Still, I am already getting feedback that my CV is on the desk of a few big companies, lets see how it goes...and stew, I will carry that with me pal, that sounds like a nightmare but you made a good go of it.
