  1. Thanks guys, excellent responses there really appreciate it. Will go for the family option and keep all the receipts etc for the parts (when I said free, I meant in labour terms, I would still have to pay out for parts although he gets good discounts at most suppliers in the area) as evidence of work done. He has already fitted a new clutch and flywheel for me along with the rear axle CV joint so no reason why he shouldn't do the service as well.
  2. Cheers Chris, good point. I would like a new gearbox in the car, so saving the money on the service and buying some new gears/box would be a good deal!
  3. OK, the service due end of the year (think its a P2 off the top of my head) and already I am umming and urring about it. Having looked at what actually gets done, and by whom, it seems very overpriced. All my previous cars I simply got my dad and brother to service, they both run their own car mechanics businesses and my dad has been in the game nearly 50 years working on sports cars ranging from Jag XJ220s to Porsches to Ferraris, so he is no fool when looking at something like a Zed. So my question is: If I got him to service it, which he would do for nothing, and got him to stamp the book with his companies stamp, would in your opinion be problematic when selling it? I think I know the answer but a general punt around on here to gauge responses would be good. As it happens he would probably do the service +10 and check plenty more bits whilst he is at it, it would likely be a better job than a standard service, but anyone looking at service history wouldn't know that So do I pay out for an overpriced piece of work by my local Nissan dealer or get a better job done for free by someone else?

    Non GT

When I was looking, and I looked for a good couple of months before buying, I saw non GTs sitting on AT and PH for that whole duration. I guess if you are buying to drive it till it expires, nothing wrong with a non GT, in fact you should probably go non GT. Have you tried posting something in the Wanted section on here? Might be a few members thinking of selling who haven't advertised yet.

    Non GT

Apart from what you mentioned, there is no difference between the GT and non GT. They are cheaper, but come sale time they are harder to shift on than GT cars. Not sure what problems you refer to, cruise and seats are fine - Bose CD skips by all accounts but can't imagine its any worse than the standard CD?
  6. Can't remember where we stayed but go visit the Pommery caves, brilliant tour they put on there.
  7. Got a link to it? Very much a buyers market at the moment, don't feel pressured to take the first one you see. There is also a thread on the site I think which lists what to look out for on 100k cars... Spurs Dave has a cracking 100k car might be worth asking him what he thinks.
  8. I actually had a little google on this, and found a guy that took the T off of his 1.6 turbo A3, just to surprise a few people by leaving just the 1.6 on there. Interesting that some people debadge a car to make it look slower than it actually is
  9. Think I might just hold onto it then...unless I sell the Zed and don't buy a coupe!
  10. Good stuff, laughed out loud at some of those!
  11. Anyone tried selling a number plate? I have C5UPE but DVLA is offering something like £800 and I am sure it should be worth more than that? Any experiences on auctioning number plates on ebay or the like, where you got more than the DVLA offer price?
  12. ...okay, not the car, but the replacement badges on front and back. I bought some black ones off ebay and as I suspected they have lost the 'blackness' they had and have faded. Are they worth the time and effort to respray myself? Guess it would involve purchasing primer and black spray from Halfords? Or does a trader on here do some that simply will stay black?
  13. My old office was in More London Place near Tower Bridge in a brand new office complex, except some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to have all the servers in the basement...of course we then had a burst water main which closed the building, killed all the servers, and put us offline for about a week. So what happened next? Our company put replacement non waterproof servers back in the same basement ... and almost a year later, same thing happened again! http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/3884
  14. Nekid 'babes' are anything but unnecessary
  15. Loved the drag race vid, thought the Supra had stalled it for a second there! Would love to do some drag racing, once me got a new job and have some spare cash will invest in a revup and be heading over to Santa Pod...maybe!
  16. Cheers guys. As it happens just now my wife got a call about freelancing for a company 2/3 days a week for a few months - should really help out financially for a while. Now out in our new place in Windsor as well, kind of like being on holiday Easy drive from here to Grasshopper et al!
  17. I read Jap Performance for the first time the other day, I liked it. Car is good AutoExpress is good for a quick read.
  18. Well...numerous interviews later and: - have two on the back-burner, not recruiting for a month or two but keen to take my application forwards in Sept/Oct - one who said no - one who is really keen and am going for second interview/presentation but I am not so sure on the company itself - one who was just an utterly shocking interviewer who I walked out of after 35 minutes - and one more interview tomorrow for a job that is way above my current experience but an absolutely amazing role, would do it for half the money, telephone interview 2pm Friday I have to say, feel knackered, it really does take it out of you going for these interview that last up to three hours and repeating the same stuff over and over again...fortunately on garden leave now paid till end of November so time to take it easy
  19. Back of my debadged Astra I had last year, a massive improvement on what Vauxhall owners called the 'dinner plate' on the back... I do read that a lot of people think debadging is done for the purpose of hiding a vehicles engine size etc but this is wrong. Most people I know who have done this do it for the styling aspect, you get a few people who do it to hide the cars true identity but it is a styling issue in most cases.
  20. I debadged previous cars not to hide the engine size or the like but because it does just look better, cleaner and neater. Why have a garish bit of tacky chrome plastered onto the back of the car when I have swapped out the nissan burgers for black Zs? I did have a black '350z' on the back also but it seemed over the top having that many Zs on the car.
  21. I ordered a Cosworth one for my DE airbox and it was also a very tight fit and took a little bit of forcing, just the nature of aftermarket units maybe?
