The limits of my car cleaning storage space!
-
Shed, now that would be good - I have a little shelf under the stairs, about two foot wide and 8 inches deep - have to double stack stuff backwards to fit it all in!
-
To a degree, could be a good thing, if they knew what they were talking about (and assuming its a mechanically sound car) then they could be underselling it
-
Make sure they are not doing something daft on the window issue like having left the window lock switch on (located drivers side door arm) - but otherwise yes I have heard of some zeds suffering from dodgy passenger side windows. Its not temper orange btw Otherwise 'looks' in good nick - but clearly drive more than one car, so you at least know if it drives well. If you look on the site you can see lots of posts of people who have much better behaving gear boxes than others, better engine drive/power etc - if you take the first one you see, you wont know if its a good or a bad one - bodywork is nice to have but its got to be mechanically good too and you wont know unless you check a few out.

Havent got the room - dont live out in the 'burbs with a five bedroomed house and double garage you know

I vaguely remember mine had two lines for hotter and one line for not so hot?

Have to say I didn't repeat buy, as good as the products are inside, I am just not going to be using them as much over winter and would end up stock piling. Car is currently sitting snugly under a car cover outside!

Of course if people are being vindictive and nasty, then that's something that may or may not be sorted with a conversation. I find the best businesses I have been involved in are where people are adult enough to talk about the issue and resolve it. Yes you can go flying off to HR but all they will do is put you both in the room together and talk about it anyway, but you will both feel like naughty children arguing over sweets instead of adults sorting out a situation. If that person doesn't respond to different (and well researched) practices of dealing with conflict THEN raise it to a higher authority and then HR and your position on the matter will be hugely elevated vs just complaining without any resolution efforts on your own part.

I am a bit torn on this one. In many circumstances this will work and I think I would have tried this. However, it does very much depend on the person. It's a bit of a 50/50. Friends of mine have been in this situation - one of them it worked brilliantly and everything has been rosy ever since; the other it all went pear shaped and things went downhill - because unfortunately the boss felt threatened by what was a genuine approach (I think they thought it weakened their position if they "confessed all" - which is, of course, a demonstration of a lack of self-confidence in itself). It's a case where you have to pitch it just right. Good luck anyway. The second route you mention, is pretty much the route it would go down if nothing was done though. I would also argue that the first response is more likely to happen than the second. In any case, you attempt all reasonable avenues of resolving the issue, you record it, then you escalate it if necessary armed with your recordings of your attempts to handle the issue. Working with people is an odd thing, at the end of the second series of the Office although a comedy he makes the point that we just happen to walk the same bit of carpet, and you spend the majority of your waking day with them, you have to make every effort to make it work - if every one threw up defensive strategies every time a conflict occurred it would be chaos.

Suzanne the LS3 6.2 V8! Caution very long build thread....
coldel replied to Wasso's topic in Member Build Projects
Get some decent wheel bolts on it man! You have had those off blue ones for ages -
Talk to her. Has anyone else who has a problem with her talked to her or just shut her out, sniped her, talked negatively in the office when she isn't there? A saying we all know but rarely recognize is that 'its lonely at the top' - who knows what she is up against day in day out in work and outside of it. She could be in a role which isn't right for her and is trying to keep things ticking over but is lashing out at people she barely knows, its easier to do that to people you have no working relationship with. Have a chat, understand her issues, talk about what you can bring to the table to help out.

Doesn't take a lot, my neighbour who used to work for a supercar club drove lambos, ferraris etc all day all week for two years, then one day pulling away from some lights and turning a corner in some damp conditions at about 20mph found the maserati he was driving just spin out and side on to a kerb...£20k later the car was repaired. Anything running decent power can just 'have you' at any point no matter how used to driving high power cars you are - good thing is it was only your pride that was hurt.

My thoughts exactly, going to try and get my interior booked in for next month I went dark red carbon wrap on my VX, didnt suit it at all just seemed to take down the ambience of the cockpit...
-
Just dont glue anything to the actual dashboard like the gold plated plonker who glued an iphone dock to the dash of my VX before I bought it.

Any ad which asks you to pay via paypal, google checkout etc where the car is uber cheap are cons, these things have been so highly publicised over the years. You get these ads on Pistonheads as well where they put the email address on the car photos and tell you not to use the dealer link as its not working, then they take it from there and all you have is an email address to god knows who. Plenty of guides to good buying practices all over the net, autotrader have a good one.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZS-Multi-Surface-Car-Dashboard-Suction-Mount-for-iPhone-4s-/120797135811 I bought this November 2011 for my 4s, sticks to anything including the plastic dash (watch the vid as well on the advert) - I am still using it now.

a few of the VX boys flock the interior of their cars, not to my liking at all, attracts dust and crap, and if it is any part of the car that comes into contact with you regularly will quickly wear. Buy a load of leather and coat it, would be original

Remember someone of the younger generation posting on here that they were SHOCKED at the insurance prices ... after ... buying a Zed. So got it home uninsured then got quoted £3k or something. Seriously. I mean seriously. Head, testing, required.

Yes it is, you only need a few drops on the supplied cotton pads and it coats the wheels perfectly bonding on for a good 3 months. I believe GLRNet Graham used some also?

But how much was it sold for...

Give drivers five minutes grace on parking tickets, MPs say
coldel replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Spy Cars should be banned, speed cameras are there as a deterrent, the whole issue was raised a few years ago that they could not be a deterrent if they were coloured to blend in with the background and were out of sight (often sited behind road signs) - which is why they are now yellow and always in view. 'Spy Cars' go against this ruling. I guess my read on this is more like... Freeze parking fines (which are already ridiculously overpriced) but increase speeding fines which are clearly more serious an offence to over the £130 maximum you get for parking. I find it hilarious that they fine 'to allow residents to park where they live' as plenty of people who live in our area have to park on yellows as there is insufficient parking spaces. The road and buildings are hundreds of years old and were never designed for cars, having wardens come round at 6am to slap tickets on cars parking overnight on yellows of people that live there and have parking permits is really harsh. What also annoyed me was when I lived in Putney near the river, I would pay a lot for a parking permit to park on the road, but every weekend half my street would then be sectioned off by the council to allow trailers full of boats to be parked there, which no doubt they charged them for also - in effect doubling their money. I would often have to park about 3 or 4 streets away. I once got a ticket for parking outside my parking zone because of the trailers taking up over 20 parking spaces on the street. In any case I would not expect motorists to benefit in any way whatsoever. -
As above - £6k seems a lot for one that is absolute bog standard and an import which although perfectly fine will put off a % of buyers if you sell it on. Don't be hasty, summer has gone, take your time and let the bad weather kick in it always makes cars like this harder to sell and thus put a bit more haggling power into the hands of the buyer.

Got any pics of the car in full with the new wheels - bet it looks pretty good now!

I bought something like this a few years back for a car I had. It worked fine, fitted..almost flush. But when navigating it was odd as the interface looked different depending on what function I was using! So for CD it looked sharp and modern, then if I tried a USB stick it reverted to some sort of DOS looking interface. Get what you pay for really...
