  1. Not really missing the point Dan, just making the point that 'Evo Car of the Year' doesn't actually mean anything unless they tell you how they come to the conclusion. I actually have bought the magazine and as I say they hoon a few cars around and then say how it makes them feel? What does 'feel' mean? I would start by breaking it down by excitement, fun, safety, thrill, ease, danger etc etc which would explain what each cars strengths are and why the winner won.
  2. They shouldn't try and describe it in one hit, because that would be wrong. Its why composite measures in market research are so flawed. They should be clearer about what the elements they are measuring that make up the winning score are - which they dont they just hoon the cars around on country roads. I didnt see them trying to park any of them in a multistory car park, or stick a suitcase in the back. I take it MPG doesn't count either. Evo Car of the Year should be called the Evo Best Car on an empty country road with no worries about price value or depreciation Car of the year
  3. actually its very cozy, was out in it Sunday morning, 3 degrees out - it has the lined roof and better heater piping and I was out in the car in Jeans and T-Shirt But no, not fed up with it, love it still in fact - took me over a week to write the ad and gutted to post it up last night. Just want to try out a few more cars, plus looking for something I can go for a drive in where I can take my son also who is now 21 months old.
  4. Indeed Neil, you may be more perceptive than most The plan was never to sit on one car for years, I want to spend the next few years going through owning a number of sports/sporty cars - but it all started with the Zed!
  5. Yes but what does Best Car mean?
  6. I also remember back in the days of owning an Astra that I went on their forum for a nose and having a row with a guy who boasted that his 1.7cdti had 'absolutely superb performance and often shows up Porsches' - some of these hatch owners (note, not all!) do have a bit of little man syndrome and want to race more powerful cars.
  7. Sometimes I put my foot down, then afterwards think 'what a tit I was for doing that' ... sometimes though you just do feel the need. Problem is there are plenty of hot hatch drivers who know they have a lighter car and plenty of turbo to boot so want to show you up.
  8. I bought the magazine, they started with many more cars including things like an Exige and whittled it down - so they had other cars from all price ranges, but yeah not sure how its 'Apples and Apples' when you have a 911 and a Mini competing for a 'best car' award.
  9. ...only just noticed it there at the bottom of the expanded window list
  10. Hmmmm not sure about that claim. If it was doing sub 6 second 0-60 runs back in the 90s would have made it quicker than any RS Turbo or the like which were hitting the performance headlines...
  11. I had split rims on my Zed, the metal is not that hard where the screws go in so the people doing it must know the max torque application when doing the screws back up.
  12. Its also a mod the VX owners do on their NA cars (although I havent!) which is why I mentioned it.
  13. Assume you have been out in the Zed with your friends, have you driven one? Your car history shows hot hatches a few with decent modified power, the 'drive' of a Zed is much different in its lazy torquey delivery, its not by any means a sprinter off the lights, but once it gets moving you have plenty to enjoy.
  14. Interesting, I think this logic can be applied anywhere really - like you say you just need to cut in the right spots so its looking OEM. Yes you could put together your own kit Floyd, but JWT does it all for you. Once you have bought the flange (with the right connectors etc), air box (K&N go for about £45?) and made your own heat shield you are probably only £20 or £30 down on the JWT kit anyway which saves the hassle (especially with the heat shield) of pulling it all together and making it fit. Depends how handy you are. Also if you ever want to sell it on, its unlikely anyone would buy the homemade kit for anything more than £20?
  15. Loving the central exhaust, just looks stunning without looking too over the top, even though it is!
  16. Have the say, the 911 is starting to actually look like a supercar!
  17. On other car forums people have drilled holes in the standard box for noise changes, anyone tried it on here?
  18. I know! Maybe I should change my username to evilcoldel? Seriously though apologies, only had a jest because it was Daves thread who I have met enough times to have a joke with...I think! The fact that I attended meets in a beat up old ford focus for 8 months and organised one without actually being a zed owner I am pretty sure shows I respect the car and their owners! Peace.
  19. You know I still eBay search for zed stuff!
  20. ...I was waiting for a joke about West Ham somewhere there Dave!
  21. I am however a very disrespectful and evil man
  22. Yeah I guess you could be right, I do know everything thats going on, although its still a bit scary pushing on when there is surface water about!
