  1. Does it have to be double din? I had a space for a double in my R33 but decided to go for a single plus a spare drawer for *stuff* - i might even turn that spare space into an area for a boost gauge etc or who knows...
  2. I had the same dilemma, my dad and brother are both car mechanics, my dad is now in his 49th year of doing his job, he can count Rod Stewarts Jag collection as one of his clients in the past and has worked on Ferraris Porsches etc - I would have him on a 350z over any random Nissan dealer spanner monkey who is just blitzing through Nissan Micras as a job every day of the week. There are many other good independents out there in a similar situation, TGM for instance in Surrey, when you go into their yard they have six competition race cars they have built, I don't think the majority of Nissan dealership mechanics who would service you car would know where to even start in terms of building a race car. You will also find indies will work a lot harder to look after their reputation than someone working in a dealership, if the indie gets it wrong they lose their livelihood. As for stamps, anyone can stamp a book - its easy, you can do it yourself if you like. But you can't (as easily) forge a book of receipts for all parts you have put on the car - when I sold my Zed and my VX220 both buyers were much more interested in looking at the receipts in order over time and ensuring work was carried out and parts replaced. So make sure you keep EVERYTHING even down to a £3 receipt for an o ring or something that looks very insignificant.

    Tokyo

It was odd having our 'quake packs' always ready by our beds - basically a rucksack with non perishable food, change of clothes etc that you are meant to grab in case of a quake!

    Tokyo

Ah yes the earthquakes, we had a few a big ones along with a mental typhoon that tore through one night around 3am. I remember we have someone from the London office come over for some meetings and we were in the office and a quake hit, the person said they didn't realise the trains made the office shake so much, before I pointed out that that it wasnt trains and that reminded them that we were on the 16th floor...! Hope you played pachinko? Watched the train marshalls shove commuters onto trains with their clean white gloves? Noted how absolutely on time trains are all the time! Visited the Meiji shrine? Saw the 'dolls and goths' at Harajuku bridge on the weekend? Used the word 'sumimasen' many times? Went across the Rainbow bridge on the tram? Walked across the crossing at Shibuya? I could go on...in fact probably time I went back for a visit!

A yes..! .My old mate Hachiko in Shibuya.. The faithful dog! Loving this thread, like the photos, brings back so many good memories! Loved my time living in Tokyo Oh and I think I might be wrong on this but I am sure that is not the original Hachiko dog monument, didnt they smelt down the original one to make bullets during WW2?
  6. I want him to do the work more than anyone as I know it will be a cracking job, but if you don't use email then dont offer the option...will ring in the morning :-)
  7. Cheers mate will do...although why have an email option on the website if its not used...not good business practice
  8. Couple of days waiting on emails...need some work done be good to hear from you!
  9. I found when I had my Zed the gearbox is quite heavy and clunky, so the heavier rounder ones worked better than the slimmer ones... (so much innuendo possible on this thread!)
  10. There is also one (with a filter) for sale in the parts For Sale section
  11. Scary that vid but... ...I think this is where a cyclist can take total control on the situation - just don't go up the inside of lorries especially when on corners. I know its almost incomprehensible for a cyclist to understand but wait, seriously, just wait until its safe (ie stationary, space in front of them to get by etc). When I go around roundabouts etc in a car where lorries are turning I always hang back. Its a pain to be delayed for a few seconds but well worth it. Its also where you see people on bikes who are not road savvy who do not predict other road users behaviour. The amount of times I have had to stop in the road because a cyclist cycles up the inside of me in 'tour de france mode' oblivious to my orange flashing indicators and me slowing to turn left. They are often cycling within a couple of feet of my car at 20mph, thats mental. I have no idea why "some" cyclists (before anyone flames me) seem to have this invincible attitude and they dont have to abide by the rules everyone else does as you mention above. They seem to have this warm fuzzy glow of smugness that they arent polluting the environment like the dirty cars and their keeping fit, so have more right to be on the road and not obey the laws and take risks (like mentioned) as God will protect them for their just and noble cause towards the environment! Personally this is what i think angers drivers to them, their perceived attitude, not the fact they are on a bike That last point, equally I get annoyed when drivers cut up the inside in the wrong lane in traffic then just force their way in at the front of the queue again. Or just pull out of side turnings without bothering to stop because they expect everyone else on the road to stop instead etc. Its not about the bike...

  13. Last I heard he wasn't planning to as he has got his VX220 back to road legal...and subsequently capable of beating just about anything else on the road!
  14. It's called Fossers Falacy - in that your brain can only take in a finite amount of information so subconsciously filters the world as you see it for anything that is deemed unimportant. I have seen about 5 Skylines since getting mine, I saw none for years prior to that...
  15. Sorry to hear this mate, had a lump in my throat reading that 4th April post you made...
  16. Love the way this has the title '1st mod...' and look what happened, may it serve as a warning to all new Zed owners!
  17. Not sure about matching your ginger one up, they did a decent enough job matching up my QM1 Skyline white though. They have worked on a number of Zeds already though.
  18. Try Will at TGM Motorsport in Fleet, just had my R33 done there - handy for me, 30 mins drive. Or if you don't mind a trip up to Wembley way RT Performance do repairs and spray work. Cost wise, no idea really, looking at cracks etc though and having a very wild punt, £200-300 a panel to a very good standard? I had my front bumper on the Zed just resprayed (so no repair) some time ago for around I think £250, that was a few years back.

    My Z32 SWB

Nice work Alex, a fujitsubo eh! Give it a go at a repair for sure!
  20. Welcome along dude, another Surrey member!

    The R33

Bit on engine bay work today, giving it a bit of elbow grease on the inlet manifold, note the bit thats done and the bit thats not! Just received my new superpro steering rack bushes which were the only advisory on the MoT which will go on next weekend. Also got some red counter sunk washers for the bodywork bolts under the hood which add to the overall 'redness'. Big thing though, side skirts fixed! Thumbs up to Will at TGM for sorting that out, fixing both sides and respray...and looking out the window just now she is sitting very nicely looking very immaculate (minus saharan sand which I painstakingly removed yesterday), well chuffed so far with this car - loving the theatre of driving it!
  22. I know, not only did he scrap the Peugeot but he bought ANOTHER one.
  23. After the hearing, he said: “The car didn’t have any lights on it, but my argument was that it was daylight." So how did people know when you were braking? Flashed your arse out the back window? What an utter imbecile.
  24. ...if you do you can never give it the beans off the lights, just in case someone beats you
