Absolutely, you have to have a pressing midfield but there will be times when a defender, well, will have to defend. When those moments came both Cahill and Jags were both found wanting by some margin, just simple stuff like letting players run in behind them, just not marking players and generally a poor reading of the game. I also winced every time Jags got the ball, his distribution is awful. Yes the team defends as a team, but the defence just doesn't have that solid look to it, you know a mistake is just around the corner. They make me feel like I did about David James! Could be good, technically should be good, but error ridden.

Godin was very lucky to stay on the pitch, if that wasn't a WC game he would have gone but the ref bottled it, I didn't think he had a good game at all against England. I do look at that England defence and it scream mediocrity - I suppose we can look to the likes of Sterling, Barkley etc and cross our fingers they will come good which isn't a given, just look at Wilshire. What does worry me is the 'youth' coming through in defensive positions is the likes of Smalling who is so average its shocking. Shaw is the only glimmer but in centre backs where traditionally we have been strong we really have very little to offer at the moment.

Yes it did look like the only insurance payout that evening was going to be the health insurance of the R33 driver! -
Unfortunately the misinformed are everywhere, be vigilant!

So the Japanese, who build some of the best engines in the world, import a French engine, into a car marque that has been going for decades...yeah right. Clarkson has a lot to answer for!

Mine was 2004, played burned discs no problem, you just need to burn them as audio discs not mp3. Simples. 15-20 songs per disc, about 100 songs in total, did the trick for me.

Reducing light output as I understood it is a fail, odd they only gave an advisory. I did have fly eyes on mine for a short time, made night driving hazardous and when I removed it took a day of polishing to get the marks off that it left. Fly eyes 'claims' that it doesn't reduce light output, they throw a load of scientific nonsense at you but I put it on and it does, they can make all the claims in the world but actual testing proved otherwise!

Used an adaptor, it was ok, did the job. Then burnt all my favourite music to 6 discs loaded them in and that did it for me really. I am not one for needing 2000 hours of music to keep me amused!

Vauxhall Astra forum, now there was a right bunch of utter bell-ends. Sorry but they got my goat. One guy said his 1.7 turbo diesel when mapped had 'superb' performance - I posted back that it was pretty useful for a diesel but superb in the grand scheme of things it isn't. He then slagged off my 1.8 Astra (which I bought to ferry potential baby and shopping around in not to race) then saying he had raced and beaten most cars on the road with his superb performance sports car...

I had a DE and put in Nissan oil and molyslip, I *think* it improved it but not by much - unfortunately the annoying rattle is something you have to tolerate with zed ownership

Rooney has a 1 in 2 goal ratio for England, he does score goals, when managers play him up front. You don't get 40 goals for England at that rate without being a bit decent, otherwise why are there only three other Englishmen in one hundred years to have managed so? Unfortunately, like Joe Cole and a few other 'talents' they are played out of position to fit into a team - as a few people have said, play them in their position or don't play them at all.

Would have been nice to have had a plan b, Andy Carroll doesn't fit the typical mould but would have been a darn sight more effective than Lambert.

What a load of nonsense that article is. Rooney has outperformed and out scored many 'foreign' opponent. We played well in qualifying and Rooney was top scorer, again. Unfortunately England are perennial tournament failures and have been for twenty years. Outside of the actual WC and EC competitions we are one of the most successful teams in the world. I would wager that Italy would love to have Rooney on the bench right now...its not the individuals, its the team, the manager, the FA.

Yes Roy just didn't have any tactical capability to change the game - it was some Sturridge magic and the usual Johnson willingness to attack that made the goal. Ironic really that we had something like 60% possession but got undone by an 'English Long Ball'.

Just browsing their other products, they also sell the magnetic fuel savers as well - and 99% positive feedback, good grief. -
Bang on Stu. Too many players out there to win it on their own, and it has gone straight to the heads of the likes of Sterling and Barkley also who never put a decent touch on the ball tonight and were always trying to beat three players. I'm sure the whole England team will be over it within a week of landing back here.
-
I just hope we can ditch Roy and get someone decent in. He is a Yes man so no doubt will keep the job, but this is his team, and its not a good one. With 5 minutes to go the team needed pushing on and there was the shot of Roy sitting them doing nothing.

Unfortunately mate this was exactly what was said after the last Euros. Bin off the old and have a crap 2014 WC. Which we are. We got young players in there but you can't compare to Germany, 8 or 9 of those players playing now all played together in the U-19s, U-21s etc, our young players are coming through in fits and starts, it showed tonight when they were not playing as a team and giving the ball away too much.
-
Gerrard flicked on the header for Suarez so wasn't offside. But its that back two, they have looked shaky all through qualifying, for three of four goals at the WC badly at fault just drifting off and not paying attention to the strikers they are meant to be marking. They look totally out of their depth. I think the buzz from the media for Barkley got to Hodgson, brought him on twice and neither time looked capable, both times over playing or giving the ball away. Looking at the way we played, I think the player up top should be Rooney and the player behind Sturridge...

Poor tonight, again Jags and Cahill look the weak link in the team. None of the subs made any impact again. Johnson probably our most potent player going forwards. Forget about mathematics, we are out.
