Basically half the country is a keyworker! Car mechanics that keep the lorries on the road, that ultimately deliver the supplies. The people that work for the thousands of companies that produce food in the food supply chain. Farmers. Rubbish collection and recycling. The list is much longer than pointing at the obvious public services.

The home delivery even that has been over run with **** takers. For Sainsbury's what people were doing were booking slots for themselves every day for the next three weeks.

If others are to go by, you stay in unless you are going out for food, medicine or exercise on your own. Keyworkers will be allowed to go to work as normal, definition of those roles coming soon by all accounts. What it doesn't mean is that we all have to stay in and never go out and starve in our homes.

You cant time deliveries as you cannot account for traffic, loading times, availability of staff to supervise etc. one drop could take 1 hour one day, 2 hours the next. The supply chain is incredibly complex (people don't understand that supermarkets just sell the stuff, they don't make it, that's the job of the thousands of suppliers who should also be considered key workers). To be honest, I think once we get a lock down people will be calmer, when they realise that they can still eat, still do stuff, that they are not going to starve in their homes. And yes, police and army on the street would help with calming it all down. It shouldn't need that, but this has shown how us in the 'developed world' are utterly hopeless in an emergency situation.

Yes Tesco 24 hour stores are reducing hours. Stores get their deliveries throughout the day, I went into waitrose for a look around (I usually use Tesco or Sainsbury's) just to see what they had in at 4pm two days ago and the shelves were full of toilet roll which had just been put out. Its worth a couple of trips if there are essentials you need. Shame again that people are being pig selfish and ignoring the general advice not to shop early and let vulnerable in there.

The supermarkets are simply following government guidance, and given how slow that has been to react no surprise they are equally slow to change. The main problem as highlighted with restrictions in store is the security of staff, staff are regularly abused and threatened in normal times, let alone now when stupid people are panicking. Given the supermarkets over the last two weeks have seen a 30-50 percent rise in sales, by now people should be stocked up and just be shopping as normal - they aren't.

Yes I can pretty much imagine people ignoring the supermarkets call for only the at risk and elderly to have access and still go along - probably thought it would be an opportunity for them to jump the queue. Shame on them. Disgusting.

Yes people are still panic buying as we get even closer to a lock down. Although the government doesn't want to say it I think the time is right for them to outline what a lock down looks like in reality as we have too many selfish people in this self entitled country making bad assumptions. My concerns all along on this thread have been for people like bytespc and I am sorry but 'its human nature' doesn't cut it in my eyes, people on the whole know what they are doing and how they are going to be indirectly causing struggle and harm to the most vulnerable in society - again if anyone can provide some statistics showing Italians starving to death en-masse in their homes I am happy to see it. I like Andy's idea on the zombie solution, easy enough cutting off heads, although locating the brain may prove much more difficult. What I feel is a shame is that a number of things in our country will be exposed in the coming months but we wont learn from it, the chronic underinvestment and inefficiencies of the NHS under Tory rule being one. The fact that it is literally impossible to live on benefits and they are not fit for purpose. The reliance of vast numbers of the populous on just in time income to keep themselves afloat, the weakness of zero hour contracts etc. and gig economy. The shocking lack of speed of decision making in government, despite having in effect a crystal ball sat over in Italy for us. I get it, this is unprecedented, but we will not learn from it.

Who said I wasn't worried? Why would we be more like China than Italy given the types of government regimes in place? Are people dying enmasse in Italy of starvation? No one is saying go out and buy way more than you need but gross negligence by both the trash media and social media have driven a lot of this behaviour. I also live in London and see empty shelves because the media are playing a huge role in panicking people. Nothing you have said is news. There is enough food and a supply chain in place to feed everyone, if people stop behaving like morons. If anything, this has shown how many tards we have living amongst us who are healthy and most likely not at risk quite happy to buy the stuff those that are at risk badly need. Those that have, hope you are proud of yourselves.

All I would add is follow only the official lines of information, definitely do not read anything into or repost anything you see on social media - whether its verified or not. Don't feed the panic machine. So many people are on the make at the moment to generate clicks, get their website shared so on and so forth. It's amazing how disgusting humans can be at times like this.

Have you seen the point in my post that you completely missed? Have a read through some of the newspaper headlines of the trash papers for the last couple of months, we should have all been dead by now according to some of them. Have a read through what I wrote, there is fact out there, there is a lot of poor information that is driving panic that otherwise could have been avoided. Have you read what a lockdown actually means? What it doesn't mean is that we are not allowed out and will starve to death in our homes. What it does mean is hugely reducing human to human contact. It is not a requirement that we go out buying 5000 toilet rolls and a years supply of pasta for ourselves and that everyone else goes without - thats irrational fear driven by poor communications, and there are enough morons in the general public to believe some of the rubbish being spouted all over social media and in the press. I get it, its serious, and its going to get very uncomfortable and we are going to have to stave off cabin fever more than any cold in the coming months. But I think too many people watch zombie apocalypse movies where only a handful of survivors are cannibals and heroes and thats whats in their heads right now.

The government wording is very deliberate and very Tory. By saying “advise” people not to go to bars etc they negate the need to compensate bars etc because they are not telling them to close. But bars etc now cannot claim on their insurance for loss of earnings (basically they are empty) and are in serious risk of failing as a business. You are right, they need to suck it up and say do this do that, not vague references to keep them off the hook. If the government is there to do anything it’s to be accountable.

Just be realistic in your running costs. Clutch could last longer or might not, if it’s the original one then there is risk there. Just make sure you have a fund to bail you out of any surprises, don’t spend every penny you have and overstretching and you will enjoy the car

Only other bargaining points are perishables, things like clutch, brakes etc. are quite expensive on these cars - will cost multiples more than a normal hatch back. last thing you want to do is spend £1500+ on all that lot.

Im sure there is a guide on here somewhere, do a quick search, I havent owned an HR so cannot remember off the top of my head - sure someone will mention it soon. It is one of the big bills though to look out for on an HR as I understand it.

Sales in grocers are up 30% for last week yoy - unheard of, but its putting strain on people who work the stores and work the supply chains. The product is there but the ability to get it to shelves is more difficult. I honestly think once we are through this there needs to be some sort of inquiry into press behaviour, I get the freedom of the press, but its taken to extreme edges of what that stands for to the point its dangerous.
