Good work fella - as you say a 6 series on a track but great to see on the straights that howling V8 wind in the RX8 by some margin.

I am sure someone who knows better will be along to confirm but that looks a no no to me

Cant say anything I have heard from dealers has been anything customer friendly, they wouldnt have a clue what customer service is - they just charge high rates and rely on people thinking they are paying for a premium service they couldnt get elsewhere.

I would say how much you paid for it would be a good start depending on how long you have had it and how many miles you stuck on it.

Go on autotrader, pistonheads and ebay and find cars of similar spec and check the prices. Frost grey is a rare option although its not to everyones taste. And get ready for the usual jokes about "its worth £5 will have it off you today"

I guess we agree to disagree then. I wasnt really talking about JC in particular but the company I work for would not tolerate bullies no matter how much money they make. We got our revenue results in for FY 2014 yesterday and it had nine zeros on the end for a company founded 11 years ago. Yes it is about the £ but there are different ways to get there. Allow your company to 'tolerate' bad eggs and bullies is bad business - it restricts growth (as in that one person can only make so much money) and restricts your companies capability to recruit and retain the best people - this person wont be able to keep the business afloat on their own forever if you are losing the best potentials because you have a few twats in the business that you refuse to deal with because they make £ each year. In fact that is a very rocky and ultimately doomed business model when you look to the long long term. in terms of TG, yes it would lose viewers if JC went in all likelihood, but as many people on the top gear thread are talking about a re-boot and new presenters as those who like it as it is for instance. Very very rarely does a brand fail because an individual leaves - yes its bumpy in the short term but good management will always find the next rising star by ensuring they havent been pushed out the business already by some bully and gone off working for someone else. Longer term, chucking your business reliance on bullies, loudmouths, people that at this point in time make £ is not in my view good business. I would rather have steady growth in numbers and business, team harmony and good team morale over some individual maverick who antagonises the staff any day. Who would you rather work for?

I for one would prefer to retain the person who made my company the most money This is the argument in a nutshell. Are there more important issues in corporate life than the pursuit of profit? Maybe the company I currently work for is an exception then - they take the longer term view that investment in peoples wellbeing is paramount and yes you might lose a few £ in the short term getting rid of bad eggs if they make good money but theres always someone else equally capable but doesnt disrupt the workforce. The company I work for makes a lot of money globally, maybe that gives them the opportunity to get rid of bad eggs and bullies but its not like they have only just started doing this its been the culture from the start. Longer term, leaving bullies and bad eggs in your business is bad business no matter how important or good at making money they think they are.

I for one would prefer to retain the person who made my company the most money How do you define that? Sales? What if they are not in a sales capacity? What if they are in a sales capacity but their behaviour was the source of high churn rates in the business? What if they are in a position of influence? Whatever the case, even if they can make lots of money, there would always be another person out there that can do the same (99% of cases) so I would not put up with a bullying character because ultimately whatever their credentials in 'making money' the company will be worse off for it.

Was browsing Tarmacs site earlier and these wheels really do stand out in terms of looks and value, great piece of kit!

... assuming the latest reports are actually what happened and not just further conjecture and here say. Agreed, talking here just on the point - not that we have the full facts of this incident - but if the news this morning is true then I would say the BBC took the right decision, in my opinion.
-
Which back to the point, cumulative effect. If this was the first time he had done it in 20 years then I think it would be a written warning as its out of character etc. However being on a warning and publically told any misconduct would result in instant suspension then here we are.
-
Exactly, so they should be sorting themselves out and not covering up institutional bullying either.
-
But you cannot have a culture in a large corporation when that sort of behaviour is deemed to be acceptable, or even worse, the easiest/best way to solve the problem - I would be astonished that anyone in charge of a large professional business believing that is so. If they do, then they simply shouldnt be there or could be that way inclined themselves. Fortunately this kind of bullying behaviour is recognised in most companies now and there are ways to report it annonymously. Otherwise you are simply encouraging a culture within which the bully wins, I for one would prefer to retain the best people in my team, not the loudest and brashest. Sorry if I am coming across passionate about this but having had this happen to me at the early stage of my career (where the boss thought it was just something to let go) its something I just wont stand now. ...and no, this isn't bitching or whining, this is called looking after your employees who might not be that way inclined to get into a swearing match and see who can shout the loudest (because they are far too intellegient and professional to do that) and employing equal rights across your business. /endrant

If you think that you can do what the hell you like outside of work without it being considered as misconduct then I think your realm of fantasy is certainly a pretty far fetched one. If one of my employees threatens another whilst on a work event at a hotel then it absolutely becomes my issue and will take appropriate action - you would be the biggest mug of a manager running a professional business if you didnt. I would imagine if this was a bunch of mates from a building site having it out whilst all drunk down the pub as per usual then it might not have the same effect. But its not its meant to be a publically funded business and thats different and is being treated as such. Unfortuantely, almost like the Scottish debate, the ones supporting Clarkson here are just calling the ones looking at it from an objective and professional perspective as haters - I don't hate Clarkson, but I don't like his humour either - but I have experienced too much bullying in work places to really sit here and support that kind of behaviour and brush it off as a bit of nothing.

Were they not associated with the notorious 'Ric' fella some time back? I have heard their stuff is hit and miss - so be prepared with back up cash to fix bad fitment.

Sounds like he got wasted, rocked up, couldnt get food as hotel was finished serving for the evening (which I think they are entitled to do) and then he turned his anger on other people and threatened them with being fired as well as various other obscenities. I think the thing most people are missing is that he is an employee of the BBC who pay his salary, his employer categorically told him he is on a final warning and any behaviour deemed misconduct would result in his suspension which from what we know this morning certainly falls into that category. Judging this incident on its own (along with various other anectdotes) is irrelevant, his suspension is a result of cumulative events. He was on a yellow card and he went in studs up and got a second which resulted in a red. As far as I can see the BBC has done what any responsible employer should do and that is look to the interests of ALL its staff, which includes the not so famous people like producers, and decide a next course of action - if it was vice versa and the recipient of the abuse had done it to clarkson he would be fired already and finding his next job, Clarkson is just lucky he is part of a valuable brand but still that shouldn't allow for misconduct to go unchallenged.

Wouldnt be too up tight about 'oiled' filters, lots of stories about them but never actually seen anyone on any forum have an engine problem because of them being oiled (if thats what you are concerned about)
-
But were they signing a new contract as their current ones are expiring? If so then no need to get 'fired' I would have thought? I would love to see them go off to Sky TV with its more limited viewing audience and see some new blood come in and make Top Gear a more exciting programme to watch again

Perfect match!

I think it's a combination of all of those, along with the added "herd mentality" aspect. As soon as something is posted on Facebook, it instantly becomes internet fact and there's a certain element of those who just want to "belong". You see it on here from certain people who post stuff up just because the internet said so, without taking the time to find out the actual facts behind it. You even see it on here where Facebook conversations are posted up and presented as fact. Cold ice water buckets for a charity they neither heard of or care about for instance? But yes it is ridiculous that so many people have chosen to support someone regardless of what they might have done without knowing the facts. Actually though that's the mentality of your core UKIP supporter so there are plenty of them out there!

I wonder if someone on set threw a punch at JC if he would laugh it off or go off on some rant and want the guy sacked? Suspect it might be the latter

There's a car stopped in the middle of the road...
coldel replied to GMballistic's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Very lucky, for the first 15 seconds or so they are doing what looks to me about 60mph+, there could be a very good reason the car is stuck there, stupid driving on blind bends. -
Miles better than OEM, ran mine for 6 months before I sold the car and worked very well, more than enough capability for my driving style (ie not that fast)
