Blimey sorry to see this Was the gear knob worth a few quid then not to hand over to the insurance company
-
I think its fair to say its a reasonable stand point, the reason you have to declare points for insurance is so they can identify what transgressions you have done done in the past with relation to driving, they are looking for a driving profile to price you premium up to a level that gives them the right risk assessment. The ideal is that they could monitor all your driving over a period of time to assess that risk... ...which the black box companies do, you pay your premium, install the box, if you are constantly under the speed limit you get % of your premium back.
-
Exactly this...people dodge the points and take the course to avoid the points rather than taking it out of the goodness of their heart to be a better driver, so the idea that its in some way equivalent to taking an advanced drivers course so makes you a safer insurance bet is clearly not the case. Its a shame its being interpreted in this way really, that some people carry on BAU on the roads having 'dodged' the points they would have automatically gotten a few years back.

Cheers pal, only just made it thanks to that shoddy sense of direction of mine!

Another small mod, switched over the old brass gear linkage bushes to something a bit newer (although those 21 year old brass ones seemed to have lasted pretty well all things considered with very little ovalling!) maybe its confirmation bias but pretty sure the gear changes felt a little crisper anyway another new part in the car

James May had dull monotone boring approach to everything...Hammond was the feisty little fella...Clarkson the power mad oath - they all 'played' their role. I watched an old Top Gear yesterday, and tried to understand why I enjoyed it. It wasn't really the presenters, the cinematography and cars were amazing though, as long as they keep up the high quality (and cost) I can imagine it will be fine - and we are all winners out of this, we now have two car shows competing against one another, I don't want either to fail as healthy competition will simply lead to more effort put into each show which will only benefit the audiences.

Cheers martin, looking forwards to seeing your new interior!

I might have to agree with Dan on this one...! Perfect for people who key cars for no reason, to be able to download something to bugger up someones car for no reason...

Yeah with the greatest respect to it, it falls into the catagory we refer to as 'bullshit' products........right up there with tyre black, megs ultimate compound etc. Not to say that they are bad but they create an illusion rather than a reality Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk Is there a 'genuine' way to keep / make your tyres black? 500 boxes of these

Hope you have a good one mate

Thats awesome, and infinitely better than the stick on stuff (which at £100 for some stickers is ridiculously overpriced IMO)

As I said, its 99% both are lying, its not the 60s anymore where you need ten witnesses and a priest to write written statements. CCTV and phone monitoring along with call history can place people - half a day looking at that data and you would have a confession in half an hour... -

Ultimately, one of these two are guilty and are getting away with it - its wrong that we shrug shoulders and say what else could the law have done. It needs sorting out, I imagine it happens more often than we realise, over the years thousands of times, and probably more before social media came along. Its only because this guy is making a big deal of it on you tube and going to the press we are seeing it. In fact its only because he had a rear facing camera (not often seen on bikes) that he could go to social media at all, otherwise no one would have been any wiser. Both those people are lying to police, the one that wont admit and the one that wont incriminate. As I say, plenty of evidence can be gathered nowadays, calls to mobile companies, CCTV can place people, etc. Of course you wouldn't do this if we were talking about someone tripping someone else up on the street but this driver nearly killed someone, and I imagine it happens more often than we hear about. -

That could be joint enterprise, which would not apply in this case. Why not, both are conspiring to protect each other knowing one of them committed the act? -

So 5 guys are stood there attacking someone, then one of them hits him with an iron bar killing him stone dead, none of the five can remember who was holding the bar therefore its GBH and 6 months for all concerned? The law I am pretty sure would sort that out. Sorry, I don't buy it. I thought they had closed this particular loophole years ago where denying all knowledge just means nothing is done. One of those two knows who did it or can give the police evidence to point to who might have done it (i.e. lent the car to someone) Anyway, what about phone tracking? Surely any simple check with mobile operators against their phones could at least place one or both at the scene. From what I know, law very rarely deals in certainties and happily puts people in prison based on likely possibilities - its highly likely either of those two did this and I am pretty sure the threat of prison time would get the truth out pretty quickly. -
Agree with Bradders, sell as is and add some funds, you wont get a straight swap there is far too much financial daylight between the cheapest 350z and the top end value of your Supra. If you have funds, then maybe a manual/turbo conversion would be better suited? Seems a nicely prepared machine.

RS Clio/Meg, Integra DC5, Abarth 595, Suzuki SS, S2000, VX220
coldel replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in Other Cars
Can't believe how much VX220s have gone up in value, £7k a couple of years back would have given you a fair few 2.2s to choose from. Now you are looking at £9k minimum...maybe I shouldnt have sold mine! Shame as they are proper track cars right out the box, engines are solid as well, basic Vauxhall units which sit in lightweight cars. What about a turbo/super charged MX5 or MR2? -
Think I saw it up for sale at £4500? Which would put it right at the bottom of the price range for a 350z...pretty looking thing though.

I was just going to say I just use normal car shampoo and they come up nice and shiny, but then mine are powder coated and black! Shampoo will get rid of the superficial dirt and make them look shiny, so looks fine with the naked eye. The point of products like BH is that it goes red/purple, this is the product removing the micro particles of hot metal that embed themselves onto your wheels during day to day driving which will be left behind after your wipe down with wash mitt and shampoo. BH is PH neutral so not harsh and will not damage wheel finish. Chirag! its funny, since I moved I could possibly use that pressure washer now as its easy to get parked outside, oh how I spend many an evening pining for my little blue pressure washer Any fairly strong chemical product, water based or not, will degrade a sealant more than a normal car soap would. I know the function of what these wheel cleaners are for, but if you properly clean and seal your wheels, soap wand water and a wheel brush will get it clean enough. The benefits are two fold. One, you save time, two, these wheel cleaners are really expensive so you save a load of money too. I agree to a point, but your best wheel sealant doesn't stop the contaminants which are not removed by soap and water degrading your wheels. Actually the superficial dirt which soap and water removes I believe does little to damage wheels over time, its the stuff you cant see, which is left by soap approach that does the damage leading to rust and the like.

How massive is the torque increase? As Graham says, would like to see it on the ground, always thought quads looked a bit OTT on Zeds but be good to see something subtle...

Have a look into dynamic vs static stretching, it will talk about how static stretching before exercise can actually inhibit your ability to perform.
