  1. An acronym is defined as being an abbreviation. I always use NASA as an example of an acronym as that's what the English Dictionary uses
  2. Shot two there Chirag is a case of 'right, stand there, and do not move a muscle!' Great photos. Inspired me to look back, I havent taken any for ages. Sold my Canon SLR (one of the old 350Ds!) and bought a mirrorless Samsung.
  3. And that is a very outdated and non engaging way of teaching. Pupils are much more engaged when they are not sat copying stuff out of a book. Marking often isn't right or wrong, it's also about method you have to grade not just put a tick or a cross. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. For those of you who get hit by bad weather over Christmas...it can happen to anyone...
  5. Stock filters are usually paper, K&N is a metal mesh with reusable material you can clean.
  6. No I get that, what I mean is when you lay down vinyl wrap even if you treat and paint the spot, if you do not rub it down and flatten it in line with the rest of the roof the slight raising of the paintwork will be obvious under the wrap.
  7. ... err I still say its pronounced Christmas
  8. I had the same motivation but found I spent much less time teaching children and a lot of time doing other stuff. As mentioned up top, all weekend preparing materials, marking, etc. I found little fun sitting indoors on a warm Saturday afternoon for 6 hours preparing lessons and missing out on time over the park with my new born son and wife. Additionally I am an excellent trainer in my job (have travelled the world running training events) but that in no way prepares you for being a trainer for a bunch of kids, its a whole new ball game and give them an inch and they will do their best to wreck your carefully planned lesson!
  9. If you wrap it its unlikely to remain 'hidden' anyway as anything under the wrap will come through visually. When you wrap it the lifting of the paintwork and rust will be obvious
  10. Or £20 worth of super unleaded and a match. You're so posh! A rag in the filler cap would do the job just fine! I was going to say, why spend extra on super!
  11. As an interesting aside HSBC is not an acronym, it an initialism, acronyms can only be an acronym if they are pronounceable. NASA is an acronym HSBC isn't. So. Christmas was always called Christmas. In the 18th century the first letter for the Greek word for Christ which looks like a capital X (Chi, pronounced Kai as in chi-squared the stats test also written X2) is put before -mas (Latin for Mass) for a shortened way of writing Christmas. The pronunciation never changed to ex-mas. Since which some people started mistakenly calling it ex-mas when it was never actually meant to be said in that way. But, that's now popular language. So. Its originally said Christmas, but more recently its read Xmas although there is the odd Brillomaster out there who says it how it is
  12. I think it all comes down to the engineering, if you put metal tubes up against red hot engine parts, the tubes and the air inside will get hotter. Route these tubes somewhere else and the effect will be different. Also how effective the CAI is means really making fundamental changes to air temps. If air is say 80 degrees, then you cool it to something like 65 degrees, you see an increase air density of 4% its not monumental gains in air intake volumes by any measure - all good and well having cones and nice looking pipes but any effort in cooling the air coming in is quickly diminished by it passing through hot pipework. Probably why the stock intake works so well with thick plastic piping and well shielded casing.
  13. So go wish someone near you right now a merry xmas, how do you say it
  14. What is it she really loves about her job? I think she needs to deconstruct it and then focus on what she needs out of any new role and what she can bring to it and go from there. Has she considered having a few sessions with a career coach? They are great at eeking out what it is you want and get you motivated and moving forwards with purpose. I moved into teaching for 6 months as a maths teacher, was in a well paid private sector job, went to a school for 6 months and moved back corporate (mainly because of financial reasons of our family at the time) side. I agree on the sentiments above around politics etc it really is bordering on farcical sometimes. It sounds like she has a passion for the actual job of teaching, is the content important though, does it have to be maths? Being an engaging 'trainer' is not an easy skill to master and there is plenty of scope in the private sector for people to deliver effective training.
  15. Welcome along, from what I remember the TCS can be switched off there is a button, but it will come back on again each time you start the car.
  16. Looks much better than a roadster, and much easier to maintain than a drop top. I would think some work on the chassis though? If you lose the strength of the roof you will put stresses elsewhere on the car?
  17. To be fair someone had a vision, a great vision, they planned meticulously, they bought the right car for the vision, they stuck by their principles...and did the whole thing on the cheap and when it was done realised what a hideous pile of crap they had created.
  18. Xmas can be read either exmas or christmas according to the dictionary - however who says exmas out loud. The X is an abbreviation of the greek word for Christ the letter X which is pronounced Chi (anyone done the Chi-squared test in statistics its written X2 ) - it was done as slang hundreds of years ago its just that over time people have forgotten it was called Chi-Mas in slang and called it Ex-mas.
  19. I read Xmas as Christmas - I have never heard anyone say happy exmas to me before

Yes it wasn't that far off bottoming out in price at that point. Seemed like a good time to get one. It was low miles (I think something like 40k) so had a bit of a premium on it. And it was black, which also added a little.
