  1. Im more OCD about my cars than 99% of people, but mine does all year round. You get some stunning weather between October and April in the UK. Cold dry mornings with the sun out, fantastic for taking the car out for a run...why deny yourself the enjoyment.
  2. I watched it also, NSX bit was good, Chris Harris did it better in new Top Gear though. What an utter pile of drivel the rest of it was though. Oh look a tank can fire big shells, so can a warship. It was just an utter waste of time. Surely someone has to give Wilman or whoever a decent slap around the face and get them to wake up to the reality of what dross this is turning out.
  3. Watched Sterling Moss take an F1 car through Goodwood a couple of years back, amazing to see a guy in his 80s still no fear behind the wheel of a powerful machine nailing it in front of thousands of people!
  4. Yip, for a very short time I could have a preview of what it would look like if I lowered it
  5. Or anyone creating anything to do with VR/AI?
  6. You can get them if you personally import them but you cannot drive one on a public road, legally. There are a few over there but they are kept on private property, some people take a chance and drive them around in public. As soon as a car hits 25 years from production date though the emissions/regulations become defunct and the car can be taken on public roads. There has been a few Americans joining the FB pages in anticipation
  7. Think we are going somewhat off topic guys (largely my fault I will admit) Member asked about £30k investment...
  8. As most have said, it suits some people and not others. Contrary to what people that have never lived in London, I commute in, takes 15-20 mins, I always get a seat to and from work, its stress free and no problem at all. It gives me access to potentially hundreds if not thousands of job opportunities in my area of expertise, just something I would struggle to get anywhere else. There is no denying it though that there is more choice and more on offer, simple numbers dictate that. But hey some people like the life of driving to work and living in less built up areas. Anyway, £30k will not get very much I am afraid. One option could be to buy maybe a garage or something and rent it out? Parking is at a premium and could be an easy way to earn a steady income? Some garages down the road from me rent out at £200 a month.Just a thought.
  9. Ha! Well I have lived in 5 counties, 4 different countries, across 2 continents - I think many people in the UK haven't experienced life properly either - the UK is shite also lol
  10. Ha! It basically gives a view on how far from centre you are based on the tube map!
  11. Yeah I know, but I have a 15 minute rail commute to central London with its thousands of jobs in areas I can work in, probably more than the rest of the UK put together in terms of what I could do. High street with main brands and independents, 6 screen cinema, richmond park, 30 odd pubs bars and restaurants, m4 and m3 access (roads not the cars!) rail into london, south and south west of England, 5 ofsted outstanding schools so on and so forth - all less than 5 mins walk (ok the M roads are 5 mins drive). Im not being big headed at all, but there is usually strong reasons why places are more expensive than others. I have lived in 5 different counties in the UK, and couldnt settle in any other ones, I guess you either get used to living in larger cities or you don't. I get it from my parents, they batter me for paying higher costs in London, but there is no way I am spending 3 hours a day on public transport just to go to and get back from work.
  12. Lots of old men have got into a classic sports VX220 and needed a winch to get them out again
  13. I guess it is what it is. Cons mostly are cost. Plenty of pros though so much within a few minutes walk of where I live. But also, if you grow up somewhere, or spend a lot of time there, its harder to leave as you have a network and friends there also.
  14. It was more around the comment of being too old
  15. Would love to move to Scotland, do the NC500 every weekend. Unfortunately not many jobs in what I do up there...actually not many outside of London so a bit stuck with it!
  16. ahem...cough...supercharged VX220...cough cough
  17. I think thats also a bit of luck and also taking a punt when others around you might not have. I know my parents bought a council house in Dagenham when the government made them available to buy in the early 80s. A fair few of our neighbours said he was mad to risk buying a house for £12.5k when rents were so low. He sold it 8 years later for £73k, I think many of our neighbours still live in Dagenham paying their rents...!
  18. I guess they do somehow. I know in the past people like nurses etc could have much reduced property to rent near to where they were working to make it doable. Not sure if that still happens. But I know lots of house owners on my road are now effectively millionaires based on the property as they bought it for £80k 30 years ago. One of my neighbours has owned his house 40 years and is a builder with an old little knackered van. He worked on construction of the M25! Saved up when younger and 'invested' in his terraced house in Richmond, now a millionaire due to property value but has probably never earned more than 50k a year in his life...
  19. Not even Richmond, that's in Sheen! The terraced two bed with no drive I rent is £1m+
  20. If its summer only, maybe get something with removable roof
  21. Nope going to potentially keep it another year. Thinking of going aftermarket front bumper (TGM visit again for the Four) and running her until 2018 then might sell on. But then in 2019 they are legal in the US and there are buyers there with wads ready to go...do I hang on to it...
