  1. Apparently the DUP conversation (meant to be a one day thing remember!) is still ongoing due to the extra billions the DUP want spent in Northern Ireland as part of backing the supply and confidence agreement. Can't imagine the Scots and Welsh will be too happy about that. Especially as per head NI already get the highest spend of any home nation. Social Care dropped. Grammar Schools dropped. Fuel Price Caps dropped. Means Tested Heating dropped.
  2. So Dan the Tory, what do you make of the speech? Must be gutted you voted for Fox Hunting and its been dumped
  3. TT350 I think your case is a freak one off and not representative of insurers or members on here as a whole - its unfortunate but not sure that jumping on every insurance thread to post about it is contributing to the value of the threads.
  4. At least government has included a reduction in car insurance premiums in the speech!
  5. ...which actually means that the faster we switch to renewable energy production the better, the key thing in the calculation is that fossil fuels are burnt to create the batteries. But yes as you say, if the above is true to sit in an EV now and claim you have no environmental footprint would be incorrect.
  6. Please read for sale rules, parts cannot be offered for sale without appropriate prices and photos with username.
  7. Am a dad and have no need for an SUV. Decent sized hatchback does everything you need. You wonder how the generation before us ever managed to even travel around the UK with kids, I mean how did they manage it without and SUV Sure it makes it easier, but for me say the hatchback met 95% of needs with having a kid, an SUV takes it to 99% it really isn't a must have. As Dan said, if you really must have an SUV run two cars, one for letting your child vomit in it, kick it to pieces and generally get bits of crap and mess everywhere - then a proper drivers car for when you want to get the dynamic feel of a drive - we had a Ford Focus and a VX220, perfect combo!
  8. I think there are still so many 350z around, they are not anywhere near as hard to come by as say an R34 or the like. The unfettered ones will always be worth more if they do start to appreciate in say 5-10 years time or so thats always the case with any car, the more original they are the more desirable.
  9. Thanks for the comments Dan. Generally, in terms of comments on this period of change, our focus is on getting the forum as is secured and upgraded as Al described. We will of course add in better functionality if the opportunity arises but the focus over the coming weeks is to get a secure and slick forum upgraded and running.
  10. Depends on where your car enthusiasm comes from really. I didn't realise it at the time but I love older Jap cars I got a VX220 which was an altogether different driving experience (for the better!) where every time you took the car out felt like you were on the grid for an F1 race The R33 was great fun but thirsty as hell and a heavy beast, but great power and very easy to increase BHP (a £120 HKS actuator gave you an extra 25bhp). Have been sat in my Celica now for over two years, ticks so many boxes. Ultimately though I really enjoy the idea of being in a very rare car, the zed was probably the most common car I owned of the four, I havent seen another GT-Four on the road in two years of driving about in mine
  11. I was referring to my Celica but even in that I didnt remove anything, just used a trim tool (worth investing a fiver into some if you dont have some already) to lift the edge and pop the wire in.
  12. I find that tricky as well when practising on the road, I tend to find that I "stab" the brakes a tiny bit by accident when going for the throttle. This has always been my fail when trying to learn this particular skill, I am hopeless at it!
  13. I have relocated my cigarette lighter also with a plastic cover now just there in my celica
  14. A few warning signs at the moment for me are around the exodus of EU workers from public services like the NHS when the country is pretty much at full employment at the moment. Also expect Poland to have a big say in what the EU agrees to with the largest representation of people in the UK. Biggest challenge will be the mess TM has made, that we do not have the strong and stable government any more she said was needed for Brexit, it makes me wonder what we will get then?
  15. Yes that is a complete rip off I agree (in terms of the fiesta example!)
  16. Yeah wouldnt really have much legal clout behind it that statement no I guess they just say accidents happen and its in everyone's interest to look after the costs of resolving the situation (as pointed out excessive claims just mean higher premiums for all of us in the long term) - I am pretty sure as gutted as he might be GZs standard of living is hardly going to be thrown into turmoil by having to use a Nissan or Honda SUV for a few weeks Insurance isn't free money
  17. They will argue that you can 'manage' in a bog standard SUV - my mate had the same issue, he ended up with a high spec Range Rover and the other party claimed it was excessive (£6k over 2 weeks) and he had some serious conversations about potentially having to pay out to cover some of that cost down the line. Problem was his insurance company recommended he do this (get the luxury car) and he had to get them to recover the recorded phone calls of him being advised to do it by his own insurance company to get himself out of trouble. I see what you are saying above, it makes sense, but whether that is how it works legally is another matter - the amount of time you saved etc. is irrelevant really. Why is a combustable car not suitable? Apart from a different fuel it still achieves all the things your X does (performance again is irrelevant). All am saying is dont think you are due this, and just try get it, be careful because for the sake of a few weeks slumming it in a petrol SUV you could end up in legal issues down the line that you don't really need.
  18. Wonder if he knew or not whether he had actually finished the course?!
  19. Fitting is a doddle for a basic camera, I did it and Im cack handed at most things. Stick it to screen, pull back interior trim and push wire behind, do this around the window of the car then down the side and round to cigarette lighter, job done. Took me 10 mins?
  20. Absolutely, as posted on the other thread, my mate had a range rover he got replaced like for like when it was in for repairs and got called on it. Nothing happened in the end but it was a stressful time for him
  21. Be careful with the hire car - my neighbour had his Rangie smashed whilst parked by a delivery lorry, loads of witnesses and his car was parked and he wasnt in it when it happened so 100% lorry drivers fault. Anyway he was pushed by the insurance company to accept a Range Rover Vogue to use whilst his was fixed which cost thousands, anyway the insurance company for the other party then challenged it about 6 months later putting lots of pressure on him as to why he needed such a large expensive vehicle as cover etc.
  22. Didnt hammond bin a motorbike recently on GT? Oh and on TG he binned that F Type at Mugallo...
  23. Yep still working on everything bear with us...
